    This is just the information I need to attempt these tasks myself (in favour of taking the bike to a shop to do)! I’ve read to use blue thread locker on the inside of the shell threads, plus outside of the bottom bracket threads!? However you used grease. Is there any preference?

    I have one question regarding the m8120 cranks (according to the chart i need that one because of my 148mm rear axle). In Shimano's dealer's guide there are two 3mm spacers, that i should fit in between the bottom bracket and the left and right crank arms. These spacers are comes with the cranks (i have not found any information about it.) ? That was a great video by the way :) Thank you !

    • @raoulwoodruffbecker1518
      @raoulwoodruffbecker1518 Před 4 lety +1

      @norbert tumpek no so you want the fc-m8100 that is already boost size of 52 mm chain line and 172 q factor. fv-m8120 is super boost plus I believe.

    • @tinshield
      @tinshield Před 3 lety

      @@raoulwoodruffbecker1518 8100 and 8120 are both 148 boost. 8120 favors more tire and stay clearance. 8130 is super boost. 8120 can be moved around a bit with different spacers.

    Just fitted one of these into an aluminium Ridley Kanzo A frame and it was a nightmare, very tight fit and I fear there is a very very slight angular misalignment on one side of the bracket, what can I do? Will it effect the crank? It is very slight... Roughly quarter of a mm.

    • @ajwitt7472
      @ajwitt7472 Před 3 lety +1

      Probably won't affect the crank but may lead to faster BB bearing wear. In my experience sometimes Hollowtech BBs go in really easy like this one did, others need a bit more persuasion. Usually drive side is tighter than non-drive. As long as you didn't cross-thread it you're good. Ideally you want to clean/chase the threads on the BB shell before doing it but that's a job for an experienced mechanic with the right tools

      @@FreeToCycle thanks for the response, much appreciated. I’m thinking of adding in the Shimano Deore BB52 and add in an 11 speed 32t Shimano Crank (most likely SLX because they’re easier to get my hands on in Australia as opposed to the Deore which are more plentiful in stock in the 12 speed) and run with a mix of SLX and Deore mechs across the cassette (SLX 11-46t), chain and rear derailleur set up... but use an XT shifter.
