So helpful, thank you! I also really do not like the dim greyish feel in the Paperwhite and was not sure if I was imagining things. Your side by side comparison really shows the difference to the basic Kindle. I also prefer the whiter cleaner look and smaller size. Thanks for helping me decide on my next Kindle!
I'm glad I'm not the only who thought that too. It's cleaner, smaller and cheaper too. Best Kindle ever. Too bad I bought my Paperwhite much earlier, otherwise I would have opted this.

I have both and I prefer the kindle basic. Its small, the font is clearer and easier on my eyes. The warm light and the led lights on the paperwhite are bother some to me. Great review!
I totally agree. The crisp white is so much better for my eyes too. Sadly, my husband decided to use it so, I'm stuck with my Paperwhite đ

I believe you have warm light activated on the Paperwhite, which you can of course turn off so it will be similar to the basic.
I think I did adjust it but it was till a bit warm to my liking. I will check it out again whether I can get similar to basic. thanks for the tip.
I have heard alot that the new basic one having 300ppi, non flushed screen has sharper text than paperwhite 5 and gives more of reading from a book feel. The flushed screen gives an impression of reading on tablet compared to basic one due to waterproof flushed screen covering the display. Is it true?
This maybe the reason why you mentioned that basic one looks more pleasant?
It's possible. but I totally agree on the sharper text. Both the Paperwhite and basic kindle are great. If you use it separately, you will definitely not feel the difference. But I do feel like i'm reading a book on a crisp white paper when I read on the basic Kindle. Unfortunately, it can be a little too bright if you are reading next to a partner who's kind of sensitive to the light. So, you can reduce the brightness of the screen.
Having used both Kindles, I would highly recommend the basic Kindle if you are okay with the fact that it's not waterproof (I don't swim, so I don't really go near water when I'm reading đ ) because of the price and also easy to hold.

Am confused. I there a 2022 Kindle Paperwhite? My local store is selling Kindle Paperwhite black as 2021 and blue as 2022.
No, there is no Kindle Paperwhite 2022. The latest generation of Paperwhite is 2021 which comes in 3 colours (black, blue and green). The basic Kindle is called Kindle 2022 and itâs much more smaller than the Kindle Paperwhite. These are the kindleâs that Iâve shown in my videos.
