Midland Railway Butterley Diesel Gala 2019

A variety of colours on display at the Midland Railway Butterley with their annual diesel gala event, with visiting locos 60063, 60066 and 66136 courtesy of DB Cargo and 66623 on static display from Freightliner, as well as mainline BR blue class 20s; 20189 and 20205, alongside a grand selection of the railway's home fleet, including 47401 'North Eastern', Class 20 D8059, Class 46 D182 and 141113.

That must have been on the Sunday brilliant footage mate i was there on Saturday for rides behind 66431 60063 60066 and 47401 on the last train 47401 split the points near swanwick signal box they had to work through the night in the rain to get the gala on for the Sunday

It’d a shame to see the place in the state it is. Oswald has fallen to bits, they no longer do days out with Thomas which was their best attraction as it got families there for their kids, a lot of the things are getting over grown and in need of repair, the main shop has gone.
In the late 90s/early 2000s it was a great place to visit but it just makes me sad now

Unfortunately the licence to have Thomas Days became too expensive for many railways. As for the shop, the one at Butterley has recent had a complete overhaul, whist at Swanwick Junction, there is a smaller one now inside the main station building.

BrickishRail yeah I know :( since that moment I’d say is when it started to go down. As they aren’t making as much money as they once did as no more family days for the kids really. I live pretty close by to the place just 20
Minutes drive away pretty much.
Loved it when I was a kid.
I really hope one day it gets back up to its busy again and making more money
