Luke's current Meinl Cymbals set up is listed in the beginning of the video after the initial credits.
Regarding the sound you hear with this video -
1.) It's always somewhat left to chance how the audio will turn out in many of these live and very much on-the-go videos. That being said, the only issue with the audio in this video is that the mic on the Zoom was simply too close to the hihat. So when Luke goes to the hihat, particularly when he plays it closed, you can hear the mic "clipping."
2.) Provided you are listening to the video through decent ear-buds or head phones or decent speakers connected to your computer, you should be able to hear a reasonable audio recording based off of the Zoom Q3HD which was one of three cameras used to record this. The other two cameras are the Go Pro Hero 3 Silver edition model. Their audio is nowhere near as good as the Zoom Q3HD, so that is why I went with it for the sound. (-Chris) - Hudba

It's a dw edge snare. Only cost around $1200...
Dw is really expensive comparing even Tama or pearl. Dont bother. Mapex got greeeat sounding snares for a good price. You could check them out (i got one mapex MPX, very cheap and good).

Have you listened to the new album, a lot of variety on there? They're a metalcore band, of course they're going to sound like the genre.
but nothing really pops out as something unique which is something I, and likely many other people value heavily when it comes to an album. sounding like a genre is one thing, but adding your own twist to making the music more definable as your own is a huge step in musicianship I don't see too often with the genre. when something is played, I like to be able to know right away which artist/band it is because of how unique it is. something like the guitarist Plini, or Sithu Aye are two decent examples of that.
GetTheJojDone I agree 100% I could never get into this band because they aren't anything that pops out. Just goes down with Memphis may fire and devil wears prada, bless the fall.. etc. They are all the same to me. Want to hear an amazing band? Listen to "Invent, Animate" they are fucking beautiful

Yeah but at the time Empire and Deciever came out that wasn't considered generic, I don't think those 2 even were at all. If you must I guess there album Life Cycles, you could consider a bit generic, but I still love that record. And there new album has a bunch of different types of songs.

"Ah man he should be in a big band." Well...Matt is on Chainsmokers. Very big music project but not really "technical", but he is travelling worldwide and making good money. Sometimes a "not so big band" its what moves Luke on music more than famous pop stuff. Craig Reynolds could be in somethimg "bigger" that Stray from the Path, but... That music talks so much on heart and feeling. Hard to know those things.
Now, that's a fuckin' crowd. Everyone is moving.
Needs more breakdowns.

While I respect Luke and his choice to join The Word Alive, it just sucks that someone who can hang with the likes of Matt Halpern and Jay Postones wastes their talent on generic metal-core, post-hardcore whatever you want to call it.
Like is not even to close to their level though,his footwork is waaay too sloppy.
he's like 20 and covered TesseracT, Periphery, and AAL songs. what the fuck is he doing in a metalcore band? he's not bad, but the amount of skill he's limited to show in this trash genre is very limited.
he wrote the drum track for this bands latest record and you can tell thought went into it. their older songs are fun to play and he enjoys them.
I guess he just likes to play it. The vocalist and drummer of this band are both the powerhouses. But this guy may as well just join a progressive metal band, it will suit his style more
Yeah but dont forget in his earlier days he covered loads of August Burns Red & Texas In July stuff too. Oh can I even add Memphis May Fire too. So its not like he's downgrading or something, he grew up with the genre basically
If you listen to TWA most recent album there is actually quite a lot of good drum work

T. Bone Thats kinda true I guess but doesn't it serve the purpose of having that explosive heavy sound being constant? I'm not a fan of metal(core) drumming but it has its purpose even in alternative music styles. What would you suggest to replace it with?
I don' t know why you should hate it. It's not the de-facto texture, but it IS useful. It can sound monotonous is (1) it's used CONSTANTLY through a song or even a album or band, and/or (2) if the cymbal being used is nothing but shrill, unpleasant tones. I use a larger, almost paper-thin Dream 20" Vintage Bliss Crash/Ride, and it sounds amazing for wash-riding. Buttery-smooth and translucent without sounding weak.
Cameron Alidor when ever i stray away from the Zildjian z series shit starts breaking to fast i like the sound of those vintage crashes but i like to really hit my symbols hard as fuck how do these bad boys stand up to power hitters
Two mistakes Luke made within the last couples years.. 1) Playing in a band that's so far beneath his talent, and 2) The forearm "bad bruise" tattoo. I thought he was in a motorcycle accident when I first saw it.
