    understandable when rolling with one of the Medes bros you might be on the defensive but your not going to learn anything lying there like a plank of wood. I'd rather get tapped 10 times than that shit...

  • @Forbidden.s3
    @Forbidden.s3 Před 6 lety

    Had a feeling he was gonna go for the legs after that guy was playing hard ball on the laying there not giving up his upperbody. Like how rafa tries all his options up top and then goes for the other half of the body to make them pay.

    The deadhooker gaurd against rafa?

    Seriously, I hate when guys do that stalling shit. It's not good jiu jitsu, and it's not self-defense. When I roll against guys with a lot less experience and they do this, it can get frustrating. But it does make me feel like I suck less to see a guy so good as Rafa take a little more time to get offense going when someone does it to him.

    Lol the guy on the white shirt waste too much time on rolling, i'd rather get tapped trying to escape. Than laying there doing nothing.

    I wonder what it must be like having Rafa go for a foot lock on you. On one hand, you're thinking "HIS BACK IS RIGHT THERE". On the other...you have only a few seconds before your foot gets twisted off...

    I understand that obviously Manly's goal was to get Ashi in this match, but laying down and having a guy like mendes on top from the beginning is crazy. I dont care how well your foot game is.

    Why wouldn't someone at least try some escapes from side control....who cares how many times you get caught by RM, maybe learn something when he stops your best escape or something...unless he was injured that was pretty lame way to roll in my opinion

    I am Brazilian and I been doing BJJ for years.I will tell you that When you are going up against a guy who has 8 International BJJ Titles like Rafael Mendez you would be on the defensive too.Getting your guard passed In a 1 minute Is not skill.If he can prevent his guard from getting passed for more than a minute than he will get more confidence.getting your guard passed will only get you a loss In competition.In MMA you are gong to get mounted and Ground Pounded.

  • @ironwillsstrengthandcondit7886

    At some point we have to conclude that BJJ is still a martial art and sport jj should reflect that at some level. You can't just lay on your back waiting for an opportunity for the guy on top to move so you can escape. That holds no actual value at all. Not on a sport level and damn sure not on the street. I have no doubt the black guy is fully capable of executing a great escape obviously hi level and strong to boot. This is the mentality creeping.

    • @1234kingconan
      @1234kingconan Před 7 lety

      That's his choice and I agree it was pretty shitty bjj for him to lay there like that.

      > At some point we have to conclude that BJJ is still a martial art and sport jj should reflect that at some level.
      No we don't. That's just your opinion, not a fact. You are welcome to feel how you want about it, but that doesn't mean anyone has to agree. Why don't you go comment on wrestling videos about how they never throw punches or boxing videos about how they never kick? If people want to use grappling as a sport that's their choice, if you don't like it go start a self-defense-only gym and train the way _you_ want to.
      Or just stop watching things that you don't like.

    • @NefariousPorpoise
      @NefariousPorpoise Před 7 lety +1

      1234kingconan anytime you start to feel like sweeping/escaping Rafa Mendes' top position is that easy feel free to pop in the gym and show everyone how it's done.
