    You are what I would call an honest farmer Richard. Working with the tools you have and producing a quality product at the end of the day. New machinery isn't a necessity. I no 1 or 2 contractors who yes have all new tractors new machinery but have also been bankrupt half a dozen times. You have healthy happy cows, machinery that works, happy family and food on the table and the job gets done. Life Doesn't get much better than that. Keep up the good work. Great vid 👍

    Hi Richard mower and tractor doing a cracking job.I was with a contractor the other day and he was on a silage job with 4 John Deere tractors and trailers,one Krone forage harvester and a big JCB loader on the clamp,and quess what it was all leased so in others words he’s working for the Bank.At least you can sleep at night without the worry of paying for expensive kit.

    Nothing wrong with the mower Rich, it’s a proven design and does the job well. Hopefully I will be going past you next week to knock off my Itchington grass. Good luck with your silaging. 👍

      Yes your right Ian. I was just trying to head off all the comments about needing a new mower, it does get a bit wearing. Hope your silage goes well, i was pleased with our crop in the end

    Good days work Sir.
    Please dont retire from u tube. Cool to watch what u do and seeing your happy boys.
    From a rather balmy New Zealand in early winter now, 18°c again today.
    Go New Zealand in the ODI cricket world cup!
    Ya just cant beat early summer with cricket commentary burbling in the background when your on a tractor

  • @Morsve
    @Morsve Před 5 lety +2

    Thats a really good looking crop there Richard! Saw the photos on Fb, the clamp did looking good!
    Tbf, I would never changed that mower you have. Good mowers that never let you down if taken good care of, quality and bomb proof design.
    Hope you dont get to many nagging comments about getting a new one. This is real life and real farming, not farming simulator.
    Got a bit afraid when you said something about retire from (vlogging I guess) when hitting 100 subs. Hope that never happens but if it does it's understandable. Would really miss videos from your life and farming. I love the way you farm with nature. The quality product you deliver and keeping the cows happy and healthy, keeping the farm tidy is a really hard job, that many never will understand.
    Cheers

    Other advantage of keeping the trees in the field is that the cows like to shelter under them when it really sunny. It's the right sized mower for the farm, no point chucking a load of money at something massive to have it sat in the shed for 363 days a year.

    Richard I have the exact same mower - it is soooo bloody slow and narrow I keep thinking I should buy an 8 foot - takes forever to go around a few acres! But then it was cheap - bought it secondhand for 500 quid and it's on it's third year. What rpm do you run at? I keep mine at the 400rpm cos that's what it recommended in the manual ( I think I spotted 515rpm on your readout?) but yours seems to be doing a cleaner cut than mine . Also I notice you flipped back a lever at the top before you started mowing - I often wondered exactly what it's for - presumably transporting the mower in the other (up) position?
