I agree that I look a lot older. Given the level of infection I had. If those teeth would have stayed in my mouth. Only matter of time after the infection ate through the bone. I was the next thing that it would take. There concern about your comment. Is women like me. Don’t have badly infected teeth pulled. Because it makes you look old. Dental infection kills people all the time. It is absolutely nothing to mess around with. Teeth and destroyed bone taken out while awake is not fun. But I wouldn’t hesitate in getting dentures again.

Thank you so much for the courage to make these videos. I’m 37 and am on my second week of full top dentures. The dentist pulled my top teeth out and I got my denture that same day. I feel so defeated. These things are miserable. No matter what I do I can’t keep them in correctly. They slip and end up crooked when I talk, drink something and when I smoke a cigarette. So I don’t even try to eat real food just pudding and little Mac and cheese noodles that I can just swallow. I don’t regret having my bad teeth taken out cuz of the pain and infections but I regret getting dentures. I apologize for such along comment but just wanted to share my experience so far.

Sweet doll, I want to give you a few tip's. It seem's like you need a re-line. After your gum's shrink or resorb, the lab need's to add more pin acrylic to the denture's, to add back what you lost. Filler's is a great option, but first try the re-line and have them bulk out the area's that you feel are sunken in. Also, your lip's. There is such thing as a lip bumper. Go to glitter heard diaries here on youtube, she has mini implant's with a removable overdenture. She Had the doctor add a lip bumper to her top over denture and it did wonder's!

What has been helpful for me is facial massage and a few face exercises. there is an old Lindsay Wagner video which is an acupressure fingertip facial. I tried this and it helped firm up my jawline quite noticeably. It has been uploaded recently and there are lots of others available that could be worth trying.

I still have the bottom teeth my own and love the appearance of the features in the bottom jaw. I am checking on mini implants for the top because my face feels like it feel in and my pictures look like it did too!! I had to have my top teeth pulled about 10 years ago and got a denture. I was going to save up the money for an all on 4. Fast forward 10 years and I had a ct scan and they said i don't have enough bone to get an all on 4. The bone loss after having your teeth pulled is about 90% over the first year! I wish someone would have told me that to begin with. Also, the dentist said the more you wear your denture, the faster your bone loss is because it wears the bone down faster. So I always sleep without my denture. The implants stimulate the bone and helps prevent bone loss just like the roots of your teeth do. So unless you have something in the bone in your jaw, it's not going to do anything to stop facial collapse. Just thought I'd share what I've been through so maybe it will help somebody else from making the same mistake I did! Good luck to everybody going through these dental issues! 😊

If I took this advice. After I already knew the infection spread to the bone in my jaw. The infected soft pieces were removed yesterday. The teeth were already destroying bone. My life was the next on there list. They only recommend these things. Because the teeth have decayed and infection is active and causing damage. Time is up when it comes to making decisions.

I literally just got my last 20 removed and immediates fitted, but there was an issue with reaching overdose levels of local so my lower teeth were done a week earlier and the remaining a few days ago.
Now I'm 48 hours past having the upper teeth removed and both dentures fitted. Lower denture is as we'd expect no hope because of all the healing and is loose as hell. The upper denture was great until I went to put it back in on the second morning (this morning), no bueno it doesn't fit anymore, too loose.
Upper has no chance of staying if fitted alone as it just drops out. But it also flicks out when the molars contact if the lower is flapping around down there.
Dentist wants me to call back in the morning, says adhesive is out with open wounds but maybe there's something they can do. Idk, I'll have to call and find out. Here different places make your denture as do your dental work depending on your care, and that is my situation.
I've already spoken about the plan with the guy that made the dentures, and we're booked in to assess things and maybe apply a conditioner in two weeks, but that's a long way away from the reline or refit that will really change things.
To be honest it feels like the denture is waaaaaay too large, far too much space around the gums, but also oddly - the back of the palate doesn't touch anymore.

With three little ones at home I couldnt justify that so I shopped around until I found a dentist willing to pull all my teeth. I wish I had good teeth because my immediates suck. Im praying that my permanent set will fit better than these horrible and painful immediates, because these are awful and my quality of life has tanked severely.

Still wearing my emmediate dentures after past 4 months. Going in a few weeks for another adjustment. Aspen Dental. I'm very disappointed because i have several things going on and they don't fix it or tell me it's ME and i have to adjust etc. But anyone, one thing is the front upper lip (upped dentures) still looks like a mouth guard. They already ground it down and told me it's as far as they can because it'll become too fragile. I have 2 months yet before i get the permanents. I'm hoping to God they'll be much much thinner.

@@marieelena6026 I went to Affordable Dentures and also to Aspen today for consulations on getting a lower denture. I kind of regret i took Aspen again. So, they..are going to get the lower dentures for me. The dentist their is not really one i like because i ask her things and she elaborates on and on. I asked if she could build on more material of the dentures to help with filling out the actual shape of the mouth for cosmetic reason and she says oh yea, ...but when the time comes she seems so reluctant to do anything at all. I had a hard time with her about thinning my upper denture before. She would give excuse that cant' do anymore or this or that, or it's because of how MY mouth is. I should have asked if she can do the adding on bulk after the denture is already made, or do i have to do it at the time of the impression. When i go in for the impression, i'm going to ask again, and i think i';m going to the OTHER Aspen place that's near.

Dianne, thank you for watching! I really appreciate your time.
Yes, these are my immediate dentures. I had them placed when I had insurance (past tense). Even with dental insurance, I could not afford to go past the immediates. So, these will have to last me as long as possible since I cannot afford the next step. I am a single mom with no extended family. It's so unfortunate that a great smile has to be so unaffordable and sometimes unattainable.
Be kind and gentle to yourself. I felt insecure and embarrassed about my dentures for so long. It's taken 2 years for me to admit to my secret. Sometimes the negative stigma of dentures will wear on your self-esteem. Don't allow it. Smile big. No one has to know until if/when you are ready. Be prepared to heal and get used to learning how to eat and talk all over again. It will happen. I am here if you have any other questions, comments or just want to chat about it! Best wishes Strong and Brave one!

I was told wait 4 weeks for denture full upper and partial hanging on to the two remaining bottom to be done (maybe). Healing nicely (i think). Why did they leave canines? Curious. DO NOT...I repeat..DO NOT...judge yourself right now without teeth/dentures! Wait until your dentures arrive and they are in place. Usually, it is love at first sight! You will have a new full set of dentures (if I am understanding correctly) with a big beautiful smile. Yes, over time, your gums will shrink and the dreaded facial changes will occur. However, wear your dentures for facial support as much as possible! I do not take mine out to sleep, only to clean/hygiene. This helps support my surrounding facial structures. Keep up on research, trends, and other videos to help with your changes. Also, feel free to use me as a support system. I don't mind! Take care

You don't look 52. I was in a car accident at 17. Knocked my teeth out too but now I'm having so many problems. Sitting here right now... I have a bad abscess, have been to a dozen dentists but everyone of them wants 50K plus! I don't have that do so I don't know what to do. If I save my teeth I'm looking at around 20-30K. I have no options but dentures and now after listening to you I am really discouraged. 😢

I'm sorry to hear about your issues. Please don't be discouraged. What State do you live in? Here in Calif, there are dentists that make payment arrangements such as Western Dental. Also, there is Care Credit and other credit programs you may qualify for. I did not. So, my teeth were pulled and immediate dentures were given. You can pull it off with just immediate dentures until other options become available. Also, regarding facial structure changes... Keep your new teeth in as much as possible and that will help. Also, if you lost teeth due to a car accident at a young age, it is possible that your face has already adjusted thus far and you will not see many more changes. Keep your chin up. Most of your appearance will be up to you as to how you "upkeep"

Marie Elena I live in Texas and I'm on workers comp so I don't qualify for loans. It's my bottom teeth that I'm worried about not the top. I've had a 6- tooth bridge for years on the top so yes... I have had shrinkage but it's the bottom... and that is where all the issues are. I'm glad you were honest but I'm 10 years older than you... I look young for my age but I'm afraid... like you I will age 20-years in the next few years if I do this. But yet... I have no options because of money issues. I feel trapped and depressed... I cry all the time. 😢

Raechel Lyn Dawn me too ! But rather the truth instead of a false fantasy . This sucks sooooo much ! Why do implants have to be so damn expensive to where the majority of people that truly need them can’t afford them , such a broken system !

    • @marieelena6026
      @marieelena6026  Před 5 lety +3

It is such a shame that dental has to be so expensive. If you have your teeth pulled, Wear them as much as possible. I only take mine out for cleaning. I even sleep with them on to help support the structure of my mouth.

How much did this cost all together? I will be doing this in the near future. I have been on a ton of meds that have wrecked my teeth (they were not great to begin with). My Mom has had her whole mouth pulled and wires in the teeth and them reset and casted for 3 months (back in the 80's) I got her teeth :( both my brother and sister got my dad's. Hubby wants me to get implants and out side of winning the lotto that isn't happening. He loves my jacked up teeth and is now coming around to the plan. I went to a local dentist and they did a treatment plan that involved crowns and bridges and root canals and fillings all for the discounted price of 13K. I sure do think dental should fall under medical insurance. Thankfully we have awesome medical insurance which comes in handy for me with all of my ailments (I am on medical disability) And my Hubby is retired Army 20 yrs on the bomb squad so he has in addition his retirement check a check from the VA for his disability. We live on a fixed income so it may take a while before I can do dentures. Thanks for sharing your story

First of all, I would like to thank your husband for serving and you as well for being a military wife. One of the hardest jobs in the world. I think, if I remember now, that my dentures cost about 2500.00. give or take. Implants, all on fours, the quote was similar to buying a small house in a southern state. IT WAS OUT OF MY REACH. I think dental should be covered. Bad teeth and gum disease can absolutely affect our health. Adding to and complicating heart disease, more so in women for some reason. That 2500.00 was just for the immediate dentures which I made laaaaaassst a lot longer than they recommend. There were additional fees to have my teeth pulled. Its not cheap nor is it easy. I would love an update!

It is not that I'm vain but the world is vain if you don't look right you can not get friends of jobs or anything really. My teeth have been bad about 7 yrs. I am afraid of the dentist I finally went in and had them pulled on Thursday. They are not good Western Dental horrible people. They never did my impression they asked over and over again if it was done I said no but they ignored me. They promised temps the same day nope nothing for me. They wanted me to do bone graph because my structure is bad over 500 a tooth no I can not afford it. I am screwed now. I am 47 I look 80 so sad really.

I completely understand that your face changes. This is hard for women in their 50s. In my case there is no choice. My husband is disabled and money is factor. So getting dentures. Keeping the infected teeth. When the infection has already spread. I won't be alive to worry about the wrinkles. I will take the wrinkles and the dentures. With no problem.
