Awesome review as always 👍
Thank you. Very transparent and honest review by the looks of things.
Grazie
Grazie
I have a S10 too and I love it!!!!
This is the best dual diode laser on the market. I had the opportunity to test two-diode lasers manufactured by Ortur, Neje, Lazertree.
I will describe the advantages, compared with competitors:
-Real optical power 10.5W. For example, for Neje 40640, the real power is only 7.6W (it used to be more, but the lasers burned out quickly)
- Efficiency 30%. This is a lot for a laser with such a complex optical system. For example, Neje 40640 has an efficiency of only 21%. That is, with the same power consumption and the same heat released, this laser produces a much more powerful beam.
- The minimum spot size is 0.12x0.17mm. The difference is 1.4 times. This is the best result among all two-diode lasers. For example, Neje 40640 has a spot size of 0.07x0.3mm (4.2 times difference). The square spot allows for good engraving of small characters and precise cutting of small parts that need to fit together (such as thorn wood connection).
-Very comfortable and functional Air assist. The best solution among all manufacturers.
- Focal length greater than 50mm from the lens. This allows for precise cutting of thick materials. Such a long focal length, only Neje 40640. But otherwise, this is the worst two-diode laser :-)
Totally agree, especially for the quality of the air-assist solution! Thanks for sharing your experience.
@@lasergrbl By the way, the effective focal length for engraving on metal is from 49 to 53mm. Less than 49mm, the lines become too thick, more than 53mm, the power drops and the engraving becomes fuzzy. Same distance for cutting, with maximum efficiency and precision. That is, best of all this laser cuts materials up to 4 mm thick. If you need to cut 6mm, you need to focus 48mm from the laser body to the surface of the material. More than 6 mm, cutting is not recommended, as the quality and speed are greatly reduced.
hello how are you?
Can I ask you a question? I also have the sculpfun s10 but when I cut a circle it is not regular, do you do it too?
I suggest to check belt tension.

Hello friend, I would like to ask you a question:
For semi-professional or even professional use and, considering more for cutting but also for engraving, what do you think between xTOOL D1 10W and Sculpfun S10 Pro? I mean, is it worth getting the xTOOL D1, which is way more expensive? Or do you think the Sculpfun S10 is enough? Thanks
First of all you should understand what you mean with professional use. Neither of these two machines, like the other machines of this category, is suitable for professional use (for example in a workplace). The safety standards do not guarantee the operator, so they can only be used as a hobby and aware of this limitation.
For the comparison with the XTool I can only rely on what I see and read on the internet, because I have not yet had the opportunity to try it personally.
Apart from the fairing which gives a more professional look, there is nothing in the xTool that we can see as a plus.
On the other hand, the S10 has the integrated air-assist system, which allows it to reach speed and cleanliness of the cut otherwise impossible.
@@lasergrbl Got it, thanks for the reply.
When I said professional, I meant a tool that supports a job, I don't mean heavier work, but, for example, has a long useful life, if used for a long time.
Besides the xTOOL D1, I was thinking about the Atomstack S10 because it seems to have a better finish, but I think the S10 is fine for me. Thanks
@@Dancopymus keep mind that diode used inside laser engraver are not designed for this usage.
They are designed for projectors, telecommunications, stage lighting.
Using them for cutting at 100% of power it very heavy and stress the diode lifespan.
If you need to do that it's better to focus on CO2 laser
hello congratulations for the video, can you engrave and cut transparent acrylic with this machine?
No it's not possibile. Only dark light-filtering acrylic
Okay, thanks for the feedback.
Hi sir can u tell me those cell part size plzz
Hello.thanks for the review, I saw that he engraves glass, right? Thanks
I never try but I see some picture of people doing this
Peut’on monter un S10 sur le cadre dubS9? Merci!
Hello, may i ask you LaserGRBL is better than lightburn you think?
I can honestly say no, it's not better than lightburn. But we're comparing free software that I (just one person) wrote in my spare time and for pleasure, with software probably written by a team of people who work on it full-time.
What I can say is that LaserGRBL is designed to be simple to use, and that I have invested a lot in the communication between PC and machine, which is optimized and designed to be extremely efficient.
LaserGRBL has some features, for example that of understanding what happened in the event of machine errors (disconnection, machine blocking) and proposing ways to resume work without losing your job. I'm sure LB does none of that.
Thank you very much for your reply!!
Can you help me Sir? What it is mean when lasergrbl power setting is highlight in red? And not showing the power percentage on the side of the S-min/S-max bar. And my laser (sculpfunS9) focus and framing not firing laser. The green light is not working also. But when I start to run the file the laser work on a stable power like 100% power all the way. Please help me Sir, I dont know what to do.
Means that LaserGRBL does not know the machine configuration. Connect LaserGRBL to the engraver and read machine configuration (menu grbl, grbl configuration)

Thanks for the great review. But one thing I noticed: you did not mount the protective cover during the tests!! That's a very bad example for all inexperienced users! Hopefully, you used a good pair of protective glasses while watching...
Yes I use Eagle Pair OD6 glasses while engraving. The beam of this laser is really bright and you absolutely have to protect yourself well, even more so when using shiny metals.
I removed the screen for better recording, so that the laser effect was clearly visible. It would have been better if I had specified this detail in my video!
Thanks for your feedback.
Can we cut 220 GSM paper and above in this?
Strictly depends by the color. White paper reflect a lot = hard to cut, colored is easier.
@@lasergrbl We are making custom made stencil cut greeting cards. Mostly on Ivory or half white color.
grazie e buina giornata Stefano
Ciao Stefano!
PS: il cuoio puzza tantissimo, fallo all'aperto!

Thanks for the review. But what's the point of engraving a test pattern, not at the focal point? When you engraved the nameplate, the distance to the material was set correctly. The thickness of the lines turned out to be approximately 0.12 mm. When engraving painted metal, you set the laser too high. As a result, the lines turned out to be 0.46mm (!!!). Please remake this part of the video. Otherwise, people will think that this laser is not suitable for engraving painted metal. Sculpfun S10 is not so bad :-)
I will certainly do the test again, but I am sure I have focused before executing the engraving. I'm thinking the very large trace is probably due to the S10's high laser power, which "melted" the paint over a trace wider than the laser beam itself.
Unfortunately these plates are painted metal (and not anodized aluminum) and are very thin, so they are not the best for doing this test because the paint is removed by heat transmission. Unfortunately I ran out of all the anodized aluminum pieces I had.
@@lasergrbl No. You're not right. I have a NEJE A40640. It normally engraves painted metal. You can simply paint the metal with black acrylic paint. You just need to choose the right speed and height. The thickness of the lines depends on the height. The thinnest lines are obtained at the height of the focal point. The focus height for metal engraving can only be set empirically. Start at 55mm from the lens. Draw small crosses on the metal and reduce the height by 1mm with each new cross. The height at which you get the thinnest cross is the focal point. At the focal point, the highest density of light energy. The engraving speed can be increased or the laser power can be decreased.
