A Calif. Zephyr in Ft. Morgan on 27JUNE2024

- This morning's California Zephyr #5 made its station stop in Fort Morgan at 0616 MDT (30 Min. late). P42s #169 & #155 powered the typical 8-car train to a stop with car 7 to the station ramp. There was no passenger activity this morning. The high ball was given and on a clear signal at west Ft. Morgan CP, the Zephyr resumed its westward trek with the next stop being Union Station in Denver.
My thanks, as always, for the greetings and waves from the operating crew.

Humidity is 95%. Kinda like a sauna to us out here.

Morning Mike. Except for the humadodity haze to the east, you have a beautiful one. I'm glad the Zephyr wasn't so late that the chorus had moved on to their daily chores. They are so pleasant to hear. 95% humidity, that early in the day must put your dewpoint almost at the temperature. Sauna weather. Best stay cool indoors, today. 113° expected here, with the dewpoint in the 70's, and uninterrupted sun. Guess where I'll be during daylight hours! Take care, stay safe and I'll be back tomorrow.
Good afternoon, Phil; I thank you for dropping by along with the comments. Fortunately, the humidity has dropped to a sultry 25% while the thermometer is registering 93 F. The indoor weather pattern is a nice 78 F with a humidity level around 12%. I changed out a couple of air filters and the A/C just cycled for the first time about 5 minutes ago. I'll make it with a easy glider that fits my body quite well. LOL!

Good day Mike. Touch and go day, but the chorus was in good form. Nice to see and hear the hellos. Whew, heat and humidity, so much for the high plains desert air! Hopefully you’ll get some of that rain. Thanks and stay cool.
Good evening, Dan; I thank you for dropping by and the comments. It was a little light on the passenger activity today. They made up for it with the greetings though. The humidity did dwindle down but will return in the morning. This is our monsoon season. All of the rain promised stayed on the western slope and has not made it across the divide. Maybe tomorrow.

I even got a wave from the side window of the cab this morning. They were pushing to make Denver today. LOL!
It seemed that Luke was looking for a passenger, but I had not seen anyone resembling a rider. Oh well.

hi Mike checking in a little late today. we had some severe storms here last evening and i was on the phone with our director about trees down. we were fortunate in that we didn/ lose power like 40000 others in our area. thanks for the catch of #5. i hope your day was great and safe.

Good afternoon, Lou; Thank you for looking in along with the comment. I think we have lucked out as the humidity has dropped to 37% and the temp is still in the mid 80s. The prognosticators are now calling for a chance of severe thunderstorms later this afternoon and evening. That may hamper the #6 trin tonight.
I do have the air purifier running and the house is closed up keeping some of the cooler air inside.

Good morning! 95% is a bit oppressive, like coastal weather. I personally noticed the altitude while visiting my son in the Denver area. You’re at about 4200 feet. We drove up to 9000-10,000 ft, but the beauty of the area distracted me from the reduced oxygen. Have a good day.
Good morning, Robert; Thank you for stopping by and the comments. The weather guessers are saying that we may get more rain this evening. I'll believe it when I feel it. LOL! I never had problems adjusting to the altitude when I came here on leave from the Navy and sea level. The best part was being in the dryer air mass out here. This area is considered part of the great American Desert with R.H. that hovers below 20% during the summer months. To have the R.H. that high (now at 83%) means the monsoon has arrived and is a bit early this year. If we can get some rain, then I'll be happy. I have spent months at Estes Park and in Rocky Mountain National Park. Driving Trail Ridge Road to the western slope has been a real dream.
But, there are those who cannot handle the lower O2 and higher altitudes. My heart goes out to them.

Yeah good morning Mike except for it running a little late today. Sounds like that the zephyrs just doing its usual thing. Some days people get on and off and some days people don't. But you know it's probably past Denver by now. Anyway I'm returning back to normal from that trip. Have a great day Mike and stay safe out there and stay cool! Drink lots of water.
