  • Hey everyone, in this video we show you how to lower a broken rear sunshade that's stuck in the up position. This will not fix the actual problem, it just lowers the shade.
    Thanks for watching!

    From a beautiful soul at BenzWorld who fixed his sunshade to make it operational again. If you care about being able to use the sunshade, this will take more work (you will need to remove the shelf) but will do the job.
    There is a weak part on the design of the motor housing. The shaft bearing cover is loose from the top motor housing. When the motor turns, the gears put pressure on the motor, therefore it pushes the shaft backwards and gets stuck. Disassemble the housing put the shaft back in, place the loose bearing cover in place and hammer the bearing cover's lip to lock it in place. Then put the whole thing back in. Put everything back together and viola! The bearing cover hold its place and stop the shaft from moving back.
    If you check the motor and find the shaft rod sticking out on the back of the housing about 1/2" then your bearing cover is loose.

    Mine gets stuck up but I get it down every time with now tools. I push the button to make it go down while pushing in on the side arms. They go down with a lil help. Have someone else push the button or use a stick to push it while sitting in the back seat.

    I never had any problems for the past 10000km... as of now i got alot to fix altogether lol.
    Front lower arms are toast
    Alignments fuked up..
    All tires have uneven wear like a stanced miata...I have h&r lowering kit not sure if its that or the alignment
    Red battery sign - visit workshop (probably aux? Health is 0%)
    Faulty maf sensor after service [cleaned air filters and boom] (not entirely sure because generic code 0746 and 0750 [p0172 and p0175] )
    Humming noise when hitting brakes
    Whistling sound from AC after starup.. Driver side AC doesnt blast unless its in Auto mode

      E55 BæMG yea you definitely have some work to do. You should get the icarsoft mb 2 diagnostic tool so you can check all of your modules. If you have a lowering kit and uneven tread wear, there's probably a slight amount of camber. An alignment should fix that.

    • @theconfortibrothers2827
      @theconfortibrothers2827  Před 6 lety +1

      Kenny Williams thanks! Since that car is natural aspirated, it will be hard to gain big horse power numbers. However, you can get long tube headers, full exhaust, possibly air intake upgrade, and then wrap that up with a tune. You'll see a nice increase in power for sure.

      Late reply but just for reference if anyone needs it: You’re in luck if you hear the shift. Open up the rear deck to get to the motor. There is a bearing cover that is loose. There is a weak part on the design of the motor housing. When the motor turns, the gears put pressure on the motor, therefore it pushes the shaft backwards and gets stuck. Disassemble the housing put the shaft back in, place the loose bearing cover in place and hammer the bearing cover's lip to lock it in place. Then put the whole thing back in.
      This will allow the sunshade to be operational again, as opposed to only bringing it down and rendering it broken.
