I agree with you! I have had a right swollen ankle for over 10 years and no doctor could ever give me any reason it might be swollen and not the left. I did find one source on CZcams that randomly mentioned it in another information filled video, but Dr. Berg definitely gets detailed with his explanations.

My right ankle and foot swells up most days, so wearing a right shoe is painful. I hadn’t been told about potassium, or about eating more greens. I was told to keep my foot raised above my heart as often as possible which often made no difference. I do eat salads using a variety of greens including pea shoots, raw broccoli etc. My ankle and foot slimmed down every few days, now I know why! Thank you so much Doctor Berg. 😍

Every day I juice one avocado with 2-3 celery stalks with xylitol & unsweetened almond milk. I noticed positive changes in a matter of days and now several months on I have greatly reduced the swelling and the discomfort in my feet/ankles. Im not fully healed yet but I'm improving every day. The ketogenic lifestyle has given me back my life. A high quality life. But listening to your videos, Dr. Berg and learning about all the macros or bodies need daily have been even more life changing. It's so hard when ppl remark on my amazing transformation and want to know what I've done. It honestly should be a crime at this point in history.

Unfortunately Angela, most doctors are not aware how big a role nutrition plays in our bodies because they do not receive much if any classes in nutrition. Doctors are pretty much clue less in this area. The "modern medicine" pretty much abandoned anything holistic with the advent of the development of the pharmaceutical industry. Instead, they focus on drugs and development. I am not saying that we have not benefited from the advent of drugs, but not all of us need drugs as the primary solution to what ails our bodies. Sometimes it's just getting real about what we are eating.

Well I actually just stumbled on your blog, video, not sure what you call it. EXTRMELY important information for me concerning left ankle swelling. I have been trying to find out the cause of my ankle swelling for months. I have a vascular doctor who's only advise is to wear compression stockings. I keep saying to anyone who will listen that I am not looking for a band aid. I want to find out what is causing the swelling instead of having my concerns be put off and told just wear compression stockings. I even have a best friend, an RN, who is at this point frustrated with me because I keep saying I want to find out WHY I have the swelling; even she just tells me to wear compression stockings. Like you said, treating the symptom and not the CAUSE of the actual problem. Finally a doctor with eyes wide open as I would think all doctors would be but I can tell you this is NOT THE CASE! I want to thank you for talking about this issue.

      @CarbageMan Před 2 lety +1

@@gerofiore9695 I'd subscribe to Dr Berg's channel and look at the beginning keto videos in his archive. Also, I recommend Dr Jason Fung, who has a great book on diabetes. He has another on obesity and one on fasting. There's a lot of crossover. Finally, for the best in-depth videos on the web-in my opinion-there's Dr Sten Ekberg. His videos are like classroom lectures for content, but he doesn't bore you to death like classroom lectures might. I don't remember if he has a starter set of videos, but he probably does, and I'm sure they're among the best.
WRT the specifics, I think it would be worthwhile for you to get a fasting insulin, fasting glucose and A1c test. Your doctor can calculate your Homa-IR or you can with info from the web, and you can compare these numbers with info from the web. They'll give you insight into how worried you should be about your metabolic situation.
My guess is, however, that you should be if you think you should. I still hold a grudge against the doctors I saw who didn't tell me about my metabolic situation until I was diagnosed diabetic YEARS after I had symptoms and did not recognize them.
Finally, I really do recommend Dr Fung's books. I listened to three of his books while out walking in the sun, which is a good complement to fasting.

Can't afford much in supplement or expensive organic, just the way our government likes it, sadly. I use Cream of Tartar daily now. It helps a lot. Figured out I am dehydrated no matter how much water I drink, because of the indentations when I take my socks off. ACV & wild lettuce tincture I make for lower back injury/pain. No more meds of any kind. Too bad it took so long to learn there truly are natural ways.

I use scissors to cut into a quart jar filling to just below the rim, fill with 100 proof vodka. Add a piece of parchment to top before closing with lid & ring. I set it in a lower cupboard for 6 wks, strain into a glass measuring cup, then into another container. Usually a smaller jar an I store mine in the fridge. I often fill a smaller tincture bottle with a dropper to carry with me. I have used Everclear before, but it's not necessary, 100 proof is better. Great epsiode!!
    Excerpts:
If the right ankle and foot are more swollen, the problem could be with the liver.
If the left ankle or foot is more swollen, the problem may be with the heart.
If both ankles and feet are swollen, the problem may be more of a blood sugar situation, like diabetes.
But there are many other potential causes of edema, including:
    • Chronic venous insufficiency
    • Lymphedema
    • Kidney problems
    • Advanced lung problems
The most common causes of edema in the ankles is diabetes or prediabetes, or the person is low in potassium and has high sodium.
In this situation, I don't think you should cut down on your salt, rather increase your potassium by consuming more greens.

My ankles swell up as the day goes on and i don’t rest my legs up. I have OA and COPD and wondered which of these it could be. I’m even more confused now Doc. I will take my potassium every day and see if that helps as i take it now and again along with magnesium (that i do take everyday) for cramp.I can be up 4 times for the bathroom if i don’t rest my legs but thanks to one of your videos Dr Berg i usually go once after resting my feet up,so thank you so very much. Love your videos and say hi to the lovely Karen. I hope you both will make more recipes, especially bread without coconut flour but using almond flour if you could PLEASE.🙋🏻‍♀️👋🏻👍🏻🌟🎖

If you do healthy keto your health issues will improve significantly. Eating 7 to 10 cups of salad you'll have your potassium and magnesium.

I noticed the right side of my ankle was more swollen than the left side. I know I are foods with more salt last week than I routinely do but never saw my right ankle swell like that. I’ve been out of my Potassium. Wake up call! I was researching for more information just in case and thank you for the confirmation in this video Dr. Berg. I will check recent blood work referencing my liver. 🙏🏾❤️

Yes he is right I agree. Sometimes, There are sympstoms that doctors usually prescribe medicine right away to hide or stop the symptoms without proper diagnosis.
