  • My 12yo daughter tries her hand at video documentary, using only a mobile phone to shoot and edit, documenting the making of a waxed canvas sheepskin vest.
Here we see a black sheepskin liner being cut and sewn, then a black waxed canvas outer, before the two parts are fused and finished to make the vest.
it takes me a full working day to make a vest like this, more if you include the sourcing of materials, packaging, admin and communications.
You can order them from the website, in black on black, black of white sheepskin, brown on black or brown on white sheepskin.
Currently turn around time is about 8 weeks.

Amazing. Gratefully wearing this here in Yellowknife - Canada's subarctic

Awesome. I hope you're getting good photos and video for me. Someday I hope I can get up there to experience that climate first hand

Thanks for the video. I’ve been doing some work with waxed canvas recently and was looking for a shotgun slip case when this video popped up. I’m not sure what’s cooler, the Mitsubishi sewing machine or that 60/62 in the drive way. I have an 84 and an 88 both need restored but not many Toyotas that old are rust free. I also have a 94 fj80 that I reupholstered the seats. I use a pfaff 145 triple feed machine. I replaced the clutch motor with a servo motor so I could slow down the machine to “my” speed. It can sew 8 layers of upholstery leather without a problem although I wish it had the larger bobbin like the newer machines have.

    How long did that take

Sorry I missed this question. A waxed canvas sheepskin vest takes about 6 hours to make, all going well. Add another hour or two to allow for problems or delays with material or machines, then some for sourcing, marketing, handling and postage.. in case you wanted a bigger picture
