Leather soles are slippery and are supposed to be broken in and should look like that, if not more, but once theyre worn in they have more traction, but other than that great review
Ben Love the video! The boots look great! Nice worn in look. The way they should be. Great purchase1 I have the same boots in the black calf leather. Amazing!Went to the Leather Spa in on 57th NY and had the sole guards put on ($40) the shoes.
hey Ben, to combat the wear and slickness on the bottom of the shoe i would recommend take these to a cobbler and put rubber soles on them. The rubber soles can applied for usually around $50 and will ultimately add to the life of the boot. They can also be easily replaced and is much less expensive then having to have the whole sole replaced. Just my recommendation to keep such beautiful boots in great condition!
They still look very very good considering you wearing them heavily for over a month. This is definitely a clear sign of the high quality of SLP boots. If you were to wear a pair of Asos or Zara/HM boots for a month, they would be totally destroyed/ruined.
I've owned a pair of HM chelsea boots for a year now. I've worn them about 8/12 month's I've had them and have had them exposed to heavy rain and light snow. I was expecting them to be worn apart after 2/3 months of wear however they still function well and have not broken apart. That being said, I take very good care of them and perhaps thta would contribute to why they last longer than expected.
Hey Ben. I appreciate your video since I just purchased these myself and was looking for some information on them. Thanks! I just was wondering if you ever ended up topying (applying a rubber layer to protect the sole) on the shoes? I've done a small amount of research and heard that even if you apply a rubber sole, the cobbler will have to sand down/ grind the sole down anyways to properly apply the rubber layer. So a lot advise just wearing the shoes for a couple months before applying anything anyway. I am a bit OCD with my brand new purchases and especially such an investment such as these boots.
The discomfort in leather soled boots is expected until you wear them over time to have the leather formed to your feet. To add more comfort to them, one remedy is to go up half a size so you can place aftermarket insoles in them. That way, you’ll feel more comfortable if you plan on wearing them as your daily footwear.
btw a good thing to do is stop by a cobbler and have them attach a rubber sole ($20 max?) to the boot that way you never have to resole the boot and if you want to sell them having a pristine sole helps you sell them at a higher price. also try putting in an insole if you have the space
Thank you! And I don't plan on reviewing any Saint Laurent shoes in the near future, but I will be reviewing watches, clothes, and other items that I feel are worth talking about.
i saw that you spoke about size, and compare with sneakers but sneakers have different sizes between brands, so could you tell me what is the size of your feet in cm ? (from heel to toe). thanks
Thank you for the comment! They are holding up well, I truly enjoy them. I do wish I would have had them topied when they were brand new. I also wish I would have had a water- resistant layer put on them so I didn't have to worry about rain. Overall I am very impressed with how they are holding up.
They go best with skinny jeans that cover the top couple inches of the boot. If you wear baggy/loose jeans with these boots they begin to look like cowboy boots. In my opinion these boots were meant to be worn with skinny jeans. Thanks for your comment!
hey man Im bout to buy a pair im the exact same size as you but my question is would you get a size 12 for comfort and room in the boot or stay true to size
Great review. I went to the store because I wanted to get a pair of these boots. Like you I was hesitating because if the price. I love how they but as you said there is no padding inside and that is the reason why I did not get them. I do a lot of walking in NYC and for the price I think they should be padded for comfort. The sales guy suggested I put padded insoles but that would make the boot very tight around the tie area. Thanks for the great review.
That is a good and difficult question. If you have the money they are worth it. They are the nicest boots I have seen. They are very high quality, and they are made with the best materials available; quality boots for sure. With this being said, they are boots....they scratch, wear, and fade like any other boot. They require proper maintenance and care. All in all I would say they are worth the money to me.
I actually just got my pair recently and wore them for the first time. Do they give in and stretch width wise? I have very wide feet and after a few hours was killing my pinky toe.
I do not use any kind of protector on them. I like the idea of wearing the boots how they come and letting them naturally wear. I avoid wearing them in rainy, dirty, or moist locations. If you want to keep them nice for a long time I would take them to a cobbler or shoemaker. They can make them weather resistant and treat them to prolong the life of the boot. Thanks for watching!
Ben Williams I like the idea to. I don’t wear them on rainy days or anything like that but sometimes I wear them for casual parties and sometimes a drop falls on it and looks dark which is ok but is annoying so i was wondering what liquid repellent would u recommend if u know one
I use Kiwi products on my leather shoes and it works great. I have never used their suede protector spray, but Kiwi has a good reputation. I would recommend that.
All the things that you're not happy with are just normal things that happen to leather or wooden soles boots, what do you expect....... they're meant to be like that, lol. You could always add rubber soles to gain more traction or protection. Still a pretty good review tho
I was in the same boat as you when I bought these. I was very hesitant to spend so much on a pair of boots. I debated buying them for a couple months and one day just clicked "buy". In my honest opinion I feel like half the price you pay is just for the brand. There's no doubt that these boots are quality made with the best materials etc. but I think almost $900 is a bit steep for what they are. When it comes down to it they're boots. They will wear, fade, and break down over time just like $80 boots. What sets these boots apart is the brand and the prestige. YSL boots are in a class of their own, no other lower end brand can match the design, esthetics, and quality of these boots.
Great question, something I should have thought to cover in the video. They are fairly loud and clacky when walking. Especially when on tile or hardwood. They are also loud when you step on small pebbles/debris on the ground etc. Thanks for your question!
Dylan, these boots click as well. I've had them for quite a while now and they still click like heels. If you don't want them to click a good option is to have a rubber sole put on. Hope this helps. Thanks!
Yes, I would go with a 42.5 or 43, maybe 43 just to be safe. They fit very true to size, so if you're comfortable in US size 10, then get a YSL size 43. Hope this helps!
Red light That’s funny. Buy a pair then put them in a plastic bag too afraid to wear them. They’re supposed to be worn as it is. I’m sure they can be resoled for that price tag.
That's a bit pathetic to be honest that YSL would produce sub-par chelsea boots like that. Though, who knows, maybe these are who they are supposed to be made?
Also Naked&Famous black wax coated jeans are amazing jeans that give a lavish leather look and tend to impress people and just look aesthetically nice espescially with chelsea boots, they are also a great reviewing item and are superior in quality and preeminent in looks. Thanks! I did do an on foot preview in the unboxing video that I did before this video. The link for that is in the description if you would like to check it out.

Can you do an update video these! I would love to see how beautifully they've aged!
Ben Love the video! The boots look great! Nice worn in look. The way they should be. Great purchase1 I have the same boots in the black calf leather. Amazing!Went to the Leather Spa in on 57th NY and had the sole guards put on ($40) the shoes.
Just ordered me a pair!! Can’t wait!!
Beautiful boots ! It would be cool if you made another review video showing them now in 2018.
It be awesome to see 👍🏽

Thank you for the advice! I'm considering having that done.
Hi Ben, can you do a update about those shoes ? Do you still recommend these ? thanks
i'd love to see a review of the jodhpurs
They still look very very good considering you wearing them heavily for over a month. This is definitely a clear sign of the high quality of SLP boots. If you were to wear a pair of Asos or Zara/HM boots for a month, they would be totally destroyed/ruined.

Great review man!
Thanks! I really appreciate the feedback!
Are you able to size down with these ? Or should you use true to size
Would you recommend the Wyatt 30 or 40 chelsea boots?
Solid commentary Ben! About the jeans-marks. Try tucking skinny jeans; it shows off the great top details of the boot.
Nicholaus Rogers Great idea, I will try that. Thanks for the tip!
Skinny jeans work best for that look. They call it stacking. Dress pants I let hang. Really versatile shoes bro. Good choice!
btw a good thing to do is stop by a cobbler and have them attach a rubber sole ($20 max?) to the boot that way you never have to resole the boot and if you want to sell them having a pristine sole helps you sell them at a higher price. also try putting in an insole if you have the space
u know cobblers sand the sole down to put on the sole right?
Kind of silly to put a $20 piece of rubber on a $1,000 boot.
@@pedrocols like put $20 case on an iphone x?
Great videos!
Thanks!
solid follow-up! do you plan to review any other saint laurent shoes?
Thank you! And I don't plan on reviewing any Saint Laurent shoes in the near future, but I will be reviewing watches, clothes, and other items that I feel are worth talking about.
Great video mate! Anything new coming soon?
Have a great day, cheers.
beautiful boots man!
Thank you!
i saw that you spoke about size, and compare with sneakers but sneakers have different sizes between brands, so could you tell me what is the size of your feet in cm ? (from heel to toe). thanks
I was wondering how the boots are holding up man do you still get a lot of wear out of them . Love the boots btw.

Do they fit well with skinny jeans? I would like the wear them with the jeans covering the top portion of the shoe.

With expensive shoes or boots you should ALWAYS use shoe trees / boot stays.
do you happen to know if they have a goodyear welt. I cant seem to find any info on that
I looked it up too and couldn't find much. Sorry I couldn't help.
Blake welt.
hey man Im bout to buy a pair im the exact same size as you but my question is would you get a size 12 for comfort and room in the boot or stay true to size
Alessandro Ortiz true to size. They'll quickly lose the little bit of comfort they have no matter what
yeah man you were right I bought them at green st in Soho but I do recommend the suede kit call MINT revives & restore to maintain the calf skin
are you still wearing these boots?
Great review. I went to the store because I wanted to get a pair of these boots. Like you I was hesitating because if the price. If I can get these on sale for 750 are they worth jumping on?
I actually just got my pair recently and wore them for the first time. Do they give in and stretch width wise? I have very wide feet and after a few hours was killing my pinky toe.
J. YI for me it did I had the same problem when I first got mine
So hows d boots condition now..? So for a wide us12 like do i need to size up.. i have problem big toe n pinky if shoes too narrow
Do you use any liquid protector on the boots if u do what brand is best
I do not use any kind of protector on them. I like the idea of wearing the boots how they come and letting them naturally wear. I avoid wearing them in rainy, dirty, or moist locations. weird they look two different colors now compared to when you were first showing them off.
It seems like that with wear the dark brown has become a lighter brown.
Hello I think the YSL are very expensive for mediocre quality
All the things that you're not happy with are just normal things that happen to leather or wooden soles boots, what do you expect....... they're meant to be like that, lol. You could always add rubber soles to gain more traction or protection. Still a pretty good review tho
Do you think these are worth the high price tag? I really want a pair but i've never spent that much on a pair of shoes.

thx for the quick reply! great vid man!
I just bought a pair of KG chelsea boots and they a clicking noise like heels I guess, is that fine? and does it mute after time?
Dylan, these boots click as well. I've had them for quite a while now and they still click like heels. If you don't want them to click a good option is to have a rubber sole put on. Hope this helps. Thanks!
How are the sizing on these ? i am a US 9.5-10. Should I go with 43 ?
Yes, I would go with a 42.5 or 43, maybe 43 just to be safe. They fit very true to size, so if you're comfortable in US size 10, then get a YSL size 43. Hope this helps!
you are supposed to put a sole protector on the heel and sole holy crap i cried when i saw the bottom
Red light lmfao you don’t have to. A lot of people just wear the leather soles as is.
Red light That’s funny. Buy a pair then put them in a plastic bag too afraid to wear them. They’re supposed to be worn as it is. I’m sure they can be resoled for that price tag.
Why do you care about the way the sole looks? Lmao
That's a bit pathetic to be honest that YSL would produce sub-par chelsea boots like that. Though, who knows, maybe these are who they are supposed to be made?
IKEA shoe trees and a cobbler to put on a rubber sole can really preserve those boots
Thanks! I'll check them out.
I've got frye jayden harness Chelsea boots
i love your voice ( no homo )
Kanye West the fact u said no homo makes it very homo
KickYoAsses1 I don’t know why in today’s world people have got so pedantic.
Haha. I totally agree.

Thank you for that! Great stuff.
Leather sole is so delicate, I wouldn’t buy it unless I have potential to buy more of them.
Its more durable than it looks. I have a leather sole shoes that lasted 10 years or more.
Denis Ho doesn’t it look rough and ruined although it works???
