It used to be that the backstage held mostly props. However, people started running off stage and the cameras would have to chase them down. When the show moved studios, they added the sofa. After that, I think it became customary to storm off the main stage to the backstage. It adds such a dramatic touch that we just love 😂
The worst part is that these shows are forever out there and sooner or later the child is going to find out about it. The drama is over the top, but that's the way it's intended to be.
They had to go to the deepest trailer parks in the United States to find these people 😂
The woman running into the ladder at 4:27 made me laugh out loud.
I like how he waives the test results in the air the same way every time he receives them.
there's one woman, Sholonda, who had 17 men tested over the course of about three years and 13 appearances, trying to find the father of her daughter Kayla.
and that's not even the wildest thing. her husband, Tywrell, had an affair with Sholonda's sister *and* with her oldest daughter, Deanna, and did paternity tests for children each of them had. (He wasn't the father.) THEN it comes out that Deanna invited him to her hotel room the night before the episode was recorded. Sholonda finally decided to get a divorce, because yikes 😬

You don't actually *believe* what you're watching is anything other than entertainment, right?
These are not "real" stories.
@@nadinekeating3255 these aren't actors, if that's what you're saying, and they're not scripted. the producers and writers do work to maximize drama, mind, by stripping out nuance in Maury's dialogue, in editing, and whatnot, by talking to the guests before taping to get their emotions high, and by providing the audience members with booze and weed while they're waiting to be seated, and then further prompting reactions during the taping itself.
reality TV isn't reliable if you want to get at the complete truth, but I've been alive long enough, and been watching people long enough, to know that while specific instances may not be truthful, it's almost certain that a situation that seems improbable from the outside (such as testing seventeen different potential fathers, all of whom fail to match) has happened in real life, probably many times, and probably even more extreme.
do I think Sholonda's story is presented with 100% authenticity on Maury? no, of course not. do I think that her (presumably now ex-)husband really did have affairs with her sister and her daughter from before they got together? it wouldn't even be the first time I've heard of that exact thing happening, not by a long shot.

I can definitely laugh and get a little escape humor out of this but every time I see the little ones all adorably laying or waving, I can’t help but to feel sooooo sorry for the chaos and patterns of dysfunction that their lives will most likely be filled with. And they are all soo freaking cute and innocent.

As a kid in the 90s n early 2000s I spend a lot of time in the summer at my cousins place with him n his grandma. She loved this show, we would watch it everyday (as well as price is right, wheel of fortune and Family Fued when that made its return). She passed away last year sadly. This clip reminds me of the three of us going crazy for all the reveals on Maury lol... it was such a bizarre period of my life but I wouldn't change it for anything.

They know who they slept with, it is just that they had multiple partners during the time range when the child could have been conceived. They just pick the one that they think they can take the most advantage of and hope that it is him.😂

I am a woman and my opinion on why the women run off stage is 1. for dramatic effect and 2. they don't want to have to admit that they were having sex with more than one man at the time they got pregnant and aren't sure who the father is. I remember one woman brought I think 4 or 5 guys (maybe more or less I just know she brought multiple men on different shows) for dna test and each time she was sure that guy was the father, I am not sure if she ever did figure out who the baby's father was. I love what the first guy said about even if he wasn't biologically the father he was still going to be in the child's life. I have a male cousin with a similar story. He started dating this woman who had 2 young boys an 8 year old and a toddler when he started dating her. The relationship between my cousin and the boy's mom didn't work out but they split on friendly terms so he decided to continue doing things with the boys. He decided that they needed a good male role model in their life and since their dad wasn't in the picture my cousin decided to fill that role. Both the boys are out of high school now and they still have a good relationship with my cousin. I think that is a good thing. I think that all young people need good role models in their life to show them the correct path to take and help keep them out of trouble. I think that is why I have always admired the big brother big sister organization. I think there are things that boys want to know about that they might not be comfortable speaking with their mom or another woman about so if their mom is a single parent and the father is not in the picture they should have another adult male that they can ask their questions to, I also think the same is true for girls. They might be uncomfortable talking to their mom about something or their mom might not be in the picture and they wouldn't feel comfortable talking to their dad about.

My husband who was 82 at the time never knew who his father was until I bought a DNA test for him and found his half sister and her two children. He thought his last name was Davis but it’s actually Mountjoy.
my sister and I would guess if they were the bio or not first to get wrong would get the worst chores until the last one standing got the easiest

A married co-worker of mine had an affair and gave birth to a son and even though her husband knew that the child wasn't his biologically he treated that little boy no different than he did the two older children. He was crazy about that little boy and it was obvious anytime you saw them out together how much he loved him. One day while sitting in my car and running her husband down as usual I had to stop and remind her that not only did he not throw her out or divorce her over the affair but that he fully accepted and loved her child and raised him as his own. Not all men will do that. I knew that the biological father [ he was also a co-worker of ours and married ] never took any responsibility or accepted the boy as his own.

This reminds me of some kind of underground club type stuff with the crowd of people cheering at something that’s usually super serious! I mean it’s l entertaining but for most of these it usually shows that some of these women are sleeping with multiple men when you realize that it’s pretty messed up. But it’s so weirdly satisfying to see these people cheering!
They run probably by instruction from the producers
The cases where the girls claim to be virgins prior to having sex with the guy and the test show that the guy isn't the father always cracks me up.

After watching only a few minutes of this, I had to laugh at my teenage self (I'm 35 now) for actually believing this was real. Now, seeing it as an adult, it's so obvious that it's actually comical.

Tbh if my parents had done this and I found out about it later, our relationship would’ve ended. I was never a huge fan of these kinds of shows and this is the main reason. Why are people dragging their kids into THEIR drama?

why is it that up until the results prove that the man or men the woman brought on the show aren't the father to the kid or kids then the woman is all fine with the cameras filming her but as soon as the dna proves that the man she claims is the father isn't then the women no longer want to be filmed.. well it isn't the shows fault that you had sex with multiple men (not saying that is wrong) and got pregnant and now have no idea who the father really is. I think it is even funnier when the women claim that they have only been with the guy they are saying is the father... then the dna proves otherwise. I do agree with you Kabir that it is the kids who suffer the most.. especially when they get older and either run across one of these videos and realize their mom was on it and/or their friends and classmates see the videos and start bullying the child.
It's sad that these women sleep with so many men they don't know who the dads are. I have 2 grown up children and I know exactly who their dads are.i didn't sleep with multiple men at the same time so I knew exactly who their dads were. I feel sorry for the children especially when they can't find out who the dad is. Quit sleeping around so much.
