Polka Nuts 8-22-2010 Golden CO play at the Polka Lover's Club. The club meets every Sunday for dancing 4 to 8 at the Kicker's soccer facility in Golden CO.
I never get tired of listening to these folks. The Hammered dulcimer lends a unique element to Polka music that one is not accustomed to hearing Ina Polka band. I love this combination!!
I grew up around polka music. My grandfather played the dulcimer for as long as I could remember...sadly I don't think that I'll ever hear him play his dulcimer again do to him having dementia...i would give anything to hear him play again.

I know this is an older video, but I couldn't help but make a comment. These guys sound very similar to one of my all time favorites: Al Holman and the Polkatoons. They were the ones who introduced me to this style back in the late 80's/early 90's. I have loved this style ever since.
Richard, Dulcimer is the instrument. It is sometimes called a hammer dulcimer. The type of music is a polka, commonly know as dutch hop polka when the dulcimer is included in the band.
I just watched the Polka Kids on Molly B Polka Show. I first saw the Polak Nuts on Big Hoe many years ago, and enjoy them a lot too, especially the unique hammered dulcimer - nice touch! I may have a vid or two from that time, I'll post it if I can find it in my archives.
Someone PULEASEEEE; What the heck is the instrument the guy in the foreground called. I know it I've seen people play it but danged if I can name it now lol I love polka music , grew up on and in fact I think my Dad was the original line dance instructor but didn't know it. He would get myself and my three sisters and Mom and line us up and he taught us kids to polka and waltz while dancing with Mom. Brings tears just to remember those carefree days
It wouldn't hurt if the trombone came out a little stronger. I am hearing too much "ting ting" and not enough "bllaa blaa" You get the idea. Good band though.
I am 85 years old, and the polka niuts have the best rythum to dance to. They are the best of all time..

Big Joe Polka Show WAS on RFDTV DirecTV ch 245. Molly B took Joe's place after he retired. She was on his show too.
