    Nice unboxing and detail video. Congrats on getting your WPL Jimny. The scale look nice to be paired with D series from WPL. I will wait for KM version since I can't stop myself from metal upgrade itch..

      Thanks. It's a nice little car apart from those awful drive shafts. I'm the same, I want to upgrade upgrade upgrade!

    Nice! They finally did it!! Got an email about this today, but, no image, of course!! Nice to see!! Yeah, you need some metal upgrades, and a better esc/receiver/motor, but then these things are tough as nails!! Love my WPL fleet, only 7 strong for now, but, this may make 8!! Nice vid, thanks for sharing!

      You're welcome.
      I'm trying to avoid spending loads on this one.. not yet, anyway. Not unless I can think of a way of making the leaf springs a bit softer.

    Well Wpl knows people will modify this from the start thats why is cheap and have low quality parts, the chassi alredy haves mounting points for links etc upgrades will sell fast...

    • @rcpie
      @rcpie  Před 9 měsíci +1

      This is true but there is absolutely no excuse for ever manufacturing drive shafts like that.

    • @RcTimes2055

      @@rcpie yeah they are bad right... Tell me the shakiness is also from the bad sitting of the tires on the rims correct... I give it 3 stars for the body only the rest is garbage... Tho updates will transform it

    • @rcpie
      @rcpie  Před 9 měsíci

      I don't think the tyres are adding to the shake. There's not enough mass in them to affect things. Besides, every crawler has horribly unbalanced wheels/tyres and most don't suffer with any noticeable shake.

    • @RcTimes2055
      @RcTimes2055 Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@rcpie Yeah true i have two crawlers and they realy dont shake... one thing this wpl runs on any kind of bearings?

    • @rcpie
      @rcpie  Před 9 měsíci

      @@RcTimes2055 It certainly doesn't look like there are any bearings and at that price it's very unlikely.

    I'm thinking about buying specifically the body eventually and doing up some custom rails and slapping together something proper. I put my foot down years ago on supporting WPL any more than their bodies at this point

    The funny thing is I did not know it was a 1/10 scale. It looks like a regular 1/16 WPL scale vehicle on their website and in your review, to be fair.

    • @rcpie
      @rcpie  Před 9 měsíci

      It's the same chassis, as far as I can tell. The Suzuki Jimny is a tiny car compared to the Toyota Hilux, so I reckon it's probably about right for 1/10.

    Hello sir! As usual great detailed video. I have a question I'm hoping you can help me with? The one I got, drives fine when it's driving straight, I checked to make sure the driveshafts were all in alignment. When I turn, left or right, the front axle jumps like crazy? Any ideas?

    • @rcpie
      @rcpie  Před 3 měsíci

      Thanks for the nice words.
      It sounds like a wrongly phased drive shaft but if not, perhaps it's just the lack of differential on a high-grip surface. If I drive crawlers with clean tyres on my kitchen floor, they do that; outside, they're fine.

    What’s the wheelbase, a full size Suzuki Samurai has a 203.9 cm wheelbase so if this has a 200mm wheelbase then it’s 1/10

    • @rcpie
      @rcpie  Před 9 měsíci +4

      With the suspension under slight load, the wheelbase is 200mm, so it's true 1/10.

    Great review. It's a good cheap RC. But I feel WPL could have done better. There product improvements are slow. If it's any consolation my interior arrived correct. I think it's going to need some mods to be a reasonable crawler. Good luck with the run. 👍

    • @rcpie
      @rcpie  Před 9 měsíci

      Yeah, they need to try a little harder. With a bit of work and some mods it might be OK but it'll take a lot to make it good.

    I think if you press the steering rate button the steering angle will increase. At least that's how the D12 transmitter functions.

    • @rcpie
      @rcpie  Před 9 měsíci

      Yes, that seems to be right.
      It seems to need doing every time it's switched on. Was that normal with the D12?

    • @janoshuszti9140
      @janoshuszti9140 Před 9 měsíci +1

      Yes, unfortunately it does not stays in that position. The button needs to be pressed every time when the rc is turned on in order to increase the steering angle. Same with the throttle rate button. @@rcpie

    hello mate I was looking for a review of this new wpl jimny. your review was awesome, it's a honest review. By the way Im not very satisfied with this product, I was expecting something better from wpl
    And also I just noticed that there is something wrong with where axles have those bevel gears on them. I dont understand how to explain it but it does not look right

    • @rcpie
      @rcpie  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Thanks for the nice words.
      Do you mean the 'differential' housings? (pumpkins)

    • @ihsrc4220
      @ihsrc4220 Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@rcpie yeah those differential housings are not usually located in the middle of the axles right? If the front one is located on right side the rear one should be in left. That would make the drive train smoother and won't bend the driveshaft in that way

    • @rcpie
      @rcpie  Před 9 měsíci +1

    Ok WPL are famous for "simpel drivetrain/transmission" and fantastic detailed shells! Axels greased ? Gears shimmed right? Maybe "room" for improvements ha ha! But i like it verry much! For the prize i think its a bargain! I drive 10 years a Suzuki Samurai LWB 1:1 and i am verry impressed because of the highly detailed body/shell WPL does ! It never mind it have some issues in the drivetrain not a problem for a RC Hobbyist.
