@@alex22153 (my opinion) harvest moon spurred the farming life sim, but i do think stardew valley had a huge impact on re-popularizing the pixel art RPG form in recent years, especially seeing pixel art fade out of popularity with producers

@@thisisntallowed9560 not really, chef rpg was in development way before haunted chocolatier was first announced. of course, they did say they were inspired by stardew valley, harvest moon, and other different games. chef rpg's developer actually has a channel, pixel architect, where they post vlogs sharing the current progress of the game's development and they also talk about where the inspiration of different aspects of the game comes from like some of the architecture is inspired by studio ghibli films.
This looks like an absolute banger. I've been watching the solo Dev build it for the past few years. Can't wait to play it!!
I’ve been following the dev (Pixel Architect) from time to time. The devlogs are a treat to listen to and I love watching his pixel art videos (it provides lots of guidance for pixel artist). It’s kind of surreal that it’s gonna be released soon. Definitely gonna learn from him!

The visuals are so stunning. This game is 50% of why I just bought a gaming pc, the other 50 of course was wanting to play stardew with mods.

@@reylencruz1550 Steam has been on Mac for most of the former’s life. macOS runs Windows apps under Wine too.
Steam is availible on macbook, but there is not a lot of compatibility in terms of the games themselves, in fact, newer macs wont support 32 bit games (including Chef RPG). I love my Mac, but it's compatibility is not good with a lot of things. Unless you want to run it via a virtualization program (Bootcamp, Wineskin, etc.) Basically- gaming on a mac is a pain in the rear end. 2/10 do not recommend. @@reylencruz1550
i love how crowded it is! it makes the town so lively. can you talk to all the npcs or some of them are just props?
Some are just props/randomly generated I’m pretty sure.

I love that this pixel art shows a lot of detail. I feel like a lot of pixel art loses detail in objects and just looks blurry. This is really nice and currently on my wishlist.

Ohh this is Chef RPG, ive had this on my wish list on steam for ages, over a year a believe. I thought this title was abandoned. Awesome to see some gameplay of it as i was so interesting in this coming out.

Just curious- can you not get the basics for the restaurant and open up to earn some money for the upgrade? It sort of seemed like it might let you open it if you bought the furniture/items you needed.

Wasn't the quest just about rebuilding your floors? I think it's 800c. Pretty sure you shouldn't have to save up 35k for the upgrade before even starting. Anyway, loving this game so far! :)

The Map around The Milk & Wheat shop looks sooo much like The Marketplace & steps leading up to the Town Hall/Council Hse...& such in Norwich City centre in the Uk that it gave me flashbacks to the early/mid 90's when i lived there!!..lol.."i Love It" too!..just as you said it.....hahaa...

My dude, the game looks amazing. The only thing is, the quest was just for renovating the floors, the upgrade is for later part of the game, haha. 35k is a looot of money to grind for without the restaurant open.

It's no "Owl Boy" graphically, but it is pretty colorful. Nice palette for sure.
Is it not enough to buy a new floor for 800 to start the restaurant? And upgrade it for 35k later?
Yeah upgrading the floor is the task, it’s in the same area as the main upgrade but you have to like look under a different part, and it will show you where you can purchase the new floor.
Werent you able to sell the shells at the chop place earlier?
hopefully the gameplay will also be legendary

looks promising. The wealth of NPCs is a bit overwhelming though. They dont stand out enough for some reason.
beside some bugs, i think the dev should allow sprinting in this game. other than that, i think this is a great game. cant wait to play it!

I find it hilarious that the physics of the game engine means it is viable to shoot at crabs scuttling around people's feet with no risk to the people!
