  • Have you ever been overwhelmed by a sudden health worry or physical sensation? For instance, a heart palpitation might spike your adrenaline, making you fear the worst. This is similar to fly fishing, where a lure deceives a trout into biting-just as our health anxieties can trick us into fear. Once hooked, the struggle only deepens the anxiety.
Meet Chris and Melissa, who were controlled by health fears until they joined my health anxiety recovery program. Chris obsessively monitored his heart, panicking over every irregular beat despite doctor reassurances. Melissa was paralyzed by the dread of health crises. Through the course, they learned to change their response to anxiety triggers and stop catastrophizing, incorporating techniques like health anxiety exposures.
Health Anxiety Exposures involve facing your fears in controlled settings, such as intentionally elevating your heart rate or scripting your fears. This practice helps extinguish the fear response over time. Today, Chris enjoys biking with his family, free from fear, and Melissa volunteers confidently at her local hospital.

Watched so many of these videos....
Accept ...don't react to symptoms.....tell yourself you're safe....not in any real danger....etc etc etc...
Whatever I've tried....just can't seem to get a handle of this...
One thing after another....floods of cortisol.....just feel dreadful most of the time....I understand HOW...we keep suffering with health anxiety.... Understand HOW it works...but I'm still failing to conquer this

I know that feeling, you're not on your own. You sort out one concern only for another to pop up. I go to doctors and get reassurance about something then when I've come away I always get hit by something else. The same as you I know all the theory of what to do,just can't seem to put into practice. Everything is a worse case scenario, simple things like a water infection are something serious or I'll never get rid of them. I'm told they're really common and nothing to worry about but to me they're a disaster. Hoping and praying we all find peace from this nightmare. 🙏 Wishing everyone who suffers to be healed.

Ms Pradko...why no anxiety specialist want to touch topic of Vasovagal Syncope...CBT do helps with that, but are there some specific things? Feeling drowsy, pre syncope or fainting is anxiety/panic symptom just like any other...just typical vagus nerve shenanigans....but it feels like no Kardiology, nor Psychology, wants to realy deal with us.

It is a rare, but known phenomenon. Most physicians are informed and recommend simple exercises in the office before shots and blood draws to prevent this reaction. Because it is so rare, most therapists have not heard of this.

I believe in therapy and medication. Please understand that some people need both. There are people that only need one or the other, but not everyone is the same.
