Hey guys, something I thought I should clarify. When I say "Fail", it does not necessarily mean a complete failure where you regret everything and it was a horrible idea, etc. I just mean they did not live up to what you imagined. I don't regret a lot of my "failed" projects because it was a learning experience.

An excellent talk! I would add one more reason to HAVE a side project (doesn't have to be a commercial one, doesn't have to give you income) is to be caught up with tech stack that your day job doesn't use. Maybe there is a library or a framework that is gaining popularity but you feel like you'll never have a chance to use it at your workplace. Just go and think of a possibly dumbest project as a reason to use it. It could remove some of the stress and frustration you the outsider feeling.

Dont mean to sound impolite, but trust me from a person who has been there done that in e-comm, it was NEVER your marketing. You never had a great product. Great products market themselves with very little effort, and if it was such a good thing, you would have never given up on it. The only reason people give up a great thing, is for something even better. Sorry to say, you never had anything. But, in this game, people blame the marketting as a way to excuse themselves. The reason why people jump from project to project is because they never thought it through well enough for it to be a good one and it was just a get rich quick scheme to begin with. Honest truth. I’ve been working on programming since 2019. I’ve finished one project over 5 years. I’ve work on many project for years, and never end up satisfied so I never actually put it out. Then I learn new technology, framework or language and get obsessed with that that it ends up being a waste of time. I’ve been working on one mobile application now for 5 years, and the worst part is, I actually know everything I need to finished the app, but just get so obsessed and never finished it over constantly making changes over and over and over again again. • @cleversonsutil4495

I would say you have a problem and it is that you want to launch a "perfect" application! And that will never happen because you will always find either something to improve or a bug to fix. I would suggest you to plan your release version based on minimal resources. For example, the version 1 will be integrated to Google only. We may want to be integrated with everyone like Google, Apple, Amazon and etc. But when you finish an integration you may find out that your previous integration is outdated, then after fixing that you may find out another company to integrate, right?! This cycle will never end. So, plan your release step by step, feature by feature. Good luck!!

Once I get close, I start to worry about if it’s outdated and it’s hard for me to resist the urge to look into more and more technologies, then I go down a bunch of rabbit wholes. Yes, I’m worried about it being perfect for sure. I hate putting my name on something if it’s not perfect. Thanks for the advice!

On one hand it seems silly to market something that you haven't created. I grew up in a sales environment (jewelry, real estate, insurance) and it was always about selling a product that is tangible, something already in existence. That's a tough perspective to get away from. On the other hand I see a great benefit in marketing an 'idea', something that hasn't been formally conceived, in that it would be a GREAT motivator and a mechanism to hold yourself accountable. Those are my thoughts anyway :)

My research was focused on Apps that met my needs. Most of them simply did not. But as I tweak my Apps I can see an opportunity to monetize either the complete App or components of the App. I have really enjoyed this channel. I have found it very helpful.
