@@jamescates9095 The funniest show was his radio show, for public radio, called Le Show. He was free associating for an hour a week. Brutally funny stuff. He went after W, the way Hunter Thompson pointed out reagan’s brain dead stupidity.

@@mkunes2502 I hated the whole disco scene. But the mid to late 1970s was not a great time in the United States. From 1975 till the end. From the horrible end of the Vietnam war, Watergate, high unemployment and inflation, gas lines in 1979 and more. But compared to 2024 it was paradise. So I should have taken things less seriously, including disco, but I was young.

@@ronniecozzi8385 I’m old enough to know the 60s. As clearl as a bell, it was reagan that turned the country back toward stupidity, when it was progressing, forward. EVERYTHING that we’re seeing today started when Reagan grifted his way to power, as a traitor.

Ah, good old Fernwood Tonight. I would love to find video of the episode where the Salvation Army band appears doing their version of Stayin Alive. Fernwood, Taxi, Barney Miller, the last hurrah of the golden age of television, 1965-1980. After that, things went downhill at an amazingly rapid pace. When they got rid of Taxi, they got rid of me. Anyway, I wasn't a huge Mary Hartman fan but I was way into Fernwood Tonight, best late-night talk show next to Johnny and Letterman before he turned into a self-absorbed overly political bitter old man.

Snider was lovable twit sometimes. One of those guys you couldn't stay angry at. He had The Clash on his show and they played for fifteen minutes doing Magnificent Seven and This Is Radio Clash. It's one of their only good live performances available online. Letterman was on his show. It was as if he just wanted to put Snider in his place by humiliating him on his own show. Maybe Snider asked for it. I don't know. Harry Shearer is a brilliant comedian.
