I just installed one of these about 6 weeks ago in my mobile home. So far it works great. I had to fine tune the contact points but once it is set up it just works. Simplicity for the win. Thanks for sharing.

Just curious if you would happen to know if it’s possible to adjust “dead zone”, on these to more than 1 degree, so it doesn’t cycle often just to cool down 1 degree and turn off. They’ve got these for $5.00 on clearance at a big box store and my current thermostat cycles maybe 8 times per hour and is not programmable so I was going to pick one of these up. I’m just looking for a thermostat that will cool below the target so it doesn’t have to kick right back on 3 minutes later.

@@billhacks Thanks for that info. I’ll pick a couple of them up. It’s surprising to me that the RTHL3550D1006 digital model I have has no cycle adjustment, even in the setup menu. It cycles on a 1deg difference, permanently set.

Picked up a couple of the thermostats. It is pretty simple, just a bi-metal thermostat coil connected to the temp lever in the center.
I’m assuming the threaded pins behind each of the two contact-points (above each’s respective magnet) are what sets the cycle-times by adjusting the release-pull the magnets have on the strip/contact?
I installed one and it cycles fairly frequently in its stock config, maybe 5 times/hr. I’m going to begin adjusting the contact screw-pins. Sorry for the long comments. You’d be surprised how little info there is online about these simple-style thermostats, despite how common they are everywhere.

@@markb1911 there's a slide with numbers on it. they relate to amp draw and cycletime. the contacts won't change cycletime. I will try to find a video about it.
