      They not only played him less than a year out from a catastrophic hip injury when he wasn’t expecting to play the whole year so he could adjust to the nfl and rebuild strength in his hip, but FLO HAS HIM PLAY HIS FIRST EVER GAME VS THE FREAKING RAMS AND DONALD! With that O-line no one in their right mind who believes Tua was the future would have played him in that game. On Tuas first drop back he got blasted by Donald and fumbled the ball! It’s like Flo never wanted him and wanted the rest of the organization to give up on him ASAP. Getting rid of the vet linemen keeping that line at the 30th ranked instead of the historically bad unit they were in ‘21. No competent coach would have trotted out that line with the future of the franchise u see center
. But Flo was priming for Watson to come, all that unused cap space that should’ve been used to put the proper pieces around Tua was being not only saved to get Watson, but was being stashed away to ensure that Tua looked as bad as possible. And Flo got fired because it became painfully obvious what he was doing to everyone in that front office
. Anyone with even elementary level critical thinking skills could figure out that Flo was trying to speed up what he foolishly/ignorantly believed was a 1 way road to failure for Tua. And the organization is being rewarded right now for getting rid of the right guy because Tuas play isn’t going to stop, it’s only going to get better.

      Don't forget Ross, who didn't even bother to hide that he was pursuing Deshaun Watson for most of last season. I think either McDaniel talked him into Tua during the interview process, or Ross figured I'll give him a year with Tua and if it doesn't work out I'll replace both of them. Ross being suspended and away from the team for the first 6 games this season was probably a benefit.

Usually a player has something they want to try and I am sure he did, but he also knew Mike probably had something in mind and Mike's play was probably the one that would work.

      I'm just ecstatic to see him being safer out there. After the Steelers game I was concerned he wouldn't change but now it does seem that he just wanted to make sure he can take some punishment and keep playing. When he didn't try to make anything out of that high snap against the Browns and just went down that was such a good feeling.

    • @Don-md6wn
      @Don-md6wn Pƙed rokem +8

      I think Tua has been pretty fully recovered physically since his second season in Miami. He just couldn't throw the ball downfield much last year with the terrible offensive line and the offensive scheme that was using Waddle as a possession receiver. I think he can throw it with as much velocity as he did in the Elite 11 or in college (the TD throw to DeVonta Smith in the national championship game was a 50 yard frozen rope), but he only throws full velocity when he has to, like on that 3rd and 7 sideline ball to Waddle against Cleveland and other tight window throws. On balls where he is throwing early before the receiver is out of his break, he's usually throwing at maybe 85% velocity to make it a more catchable ball for the receiver who has to locate it after turning. There are also a lot of balls where he has to take something off to throw it over linebackers in coverage. One of the things Dilfer mentioned in the video was that Tua used to throw everything at full velocity and you can see a lot of that in the Elite 11 footage. Tua has thrown with a lot of touch since Alabama and I think that's where the noodle arm garbage comes from.

    One thing mentioned in the video that is never mentioned by the national media is Tua's ball handling, footwork, and quick release. You couple those skills with an offense that is built around various formations and motions. Tua leads the league in qbr, yards per attempt, and his 3rd down qbr is 148. To put that into context the highest figure recorded since 2000 is 133 by Aaron Rogers.

      Also mentioned was how quickly he dissects defenses, moves them with his eyes, and goes through his reads. Trent said 3 reads back then, he can basically go through all of them now - lightning fast. Miami finally has the stud offensive mind they thought they had with Adam Gase, and now a QB that can execute the scheme. Let's not forget that Grier, for all his previous misgivings, has been a top notch GM the past few years.

Glad you posted this because it needed to be said.

    • @Don-md6wn
      @Don-md6wn Pƙed rokem +4

      Yes, there was a lot of talk that Hurts got a raw deal being replaced by Tua because he was 26-2 as a starter at Alabama. But those of who watched every game knew Hurts struggled with anticipatory throwing and that good defenses were shutting Alabama down. Alabama was 2 for 15 on 3rd down against Clemson in the 2016 national championship game they lost in the last 10 seconds. The defense was shutting down Clemson through 2 1/2 quarters but they wore down after that because Alabama's offense couldn't stay on the field. Alabama's defense faced 99 plays from scrimmage in that game. That video you're referencing went through all the footage of Hurts versus Tua with Hurts holding the ball and making inaccurate throws. The offense transformed when Tua took over. I think Hurts completed 2 passes in the first half against Georgia and Tua completed passes to 8 or 9 different receivers in the second half. Hurts has improved far more as a passer than I thought he would, and I think it started when he backed up Tua in 2018 and watched the anticipatory throwing and the ball coming out on time and on target for big yards after the catch. Hurts has put in the work and improved as a passer every year since then and has become a better NFL QB than I ever expected, but I would still take Tua over him without hesitating.

My thinking was what are you looking at? The guy is great. I always supported this player as a dolphin 🐬. Common sense would tell you he needed weapons and an offensive line. He just didn’t suck all of a sudden. He just was not drafted in a great situation. Hopefully the organization can keep the blueprint for keeping him upright and weapons at his disposal. Here Dilfer says Tua goes through his progressions faster than anyone he's seen.
    The other day, McDaniel said he's actually getting to his fourth or even fifth progression in that 2.6 seconds - I imagine his anticipation is part of that, knowing if a guy is going to come open. He also said, in the nicest way possible, that people outside the building should STFU because they don't know what they are talking about :)

    He's got the talent not many have. Vision!
    As a fan I thought after the hip injury Tua would never be what he could have been. I was wrong too.
    So happy for this amazing kid. Humble and a kind person and he's been getting ripped on by the whole world for nothing but trying to be a professional.

    My only question is, why did Brian Flores dislike this guy so much ? I mean he started Fitz then pulled him, started Tua, then pulled him, even in games no less. Then we heard Flores wanted Herbert instead of Tua. Then Miami gets a new coach and Tua is lighting up the league. It shows what a difference a coach who believes in you can make.

      Yea Flores was the worst thing that happened to Tua, luckily the organization saw it and made the right choice to fire him. However, just to let you know Flores never wanted Herbert either that was a myth. He wanted to take a defensive player at 5 and then wanted to draft Jordan Love at the end of the 1st round

    • @lucky7even693
      @lucky7even693 Pƙed rokem

      I think Flores did the best he could. For starters as a Head Coach it must feel devastating to feel like you don’t control the decisions of your team. He probably didn’t want Tua, simply based off what many considered a career ending hip injury. 2nd, most teams wouldn’t start a rookie coming off a horrific injury like that in their first season. Flores even said in a press conference that if Tua was his child he wouldn’t start him cuz he’s literally just coming off of a damn hip injury so to me he actually wanted to look out for the kid but was being forced to start him by Ross. Flores, understood that he didn’t have a lot of chances to get this team into the playoffs and he built a team and personnel to get them there. Flores was literally forced to start Tua because the owner wanted it when Fitz was balling. I guarantee, all things considered. If Flores had full control of the decisions regardless if they drafted Tua or not, the Dolphins would’ve made it to back to back playoffs and maybe further cuz their defense was clicking and with Fitz the offense designed for him was balling. Tua would’ve got a chance to FULLY heal as he learned behind a veteran QB. And by the 2nd year Tua would’ve came out and BALLED with little issues and less struggles than he had his first 2 years. For further context, Miami never had explosive receivers during Flores era like they do now. They also are currently running the same RPO that Flores was running just with more motion. So to me I don’t understand what happened in their relationship but people seem to place all the blame on Flores and NONE on the owner Ross. Ross wanted Tua to start not Flores (cuz Flores didn’t want him hurt). Yes, Flores would pull Tua out of games cuz the kid wasn’t ready or healed up and Flores understood his job is on the line of the team doesn’t win. Ross was the one that wanted Watson, Ross was the one that wanted Brady. Flores gets all the blame while Ross gets practically none which is bullshit.

      He has some kind of spatial recognition that is rare and I don't think he could even explain it, not just for where his receivers are going to be but when a defender can't get there based on a step in the wrong direction or his hips being turned. 90% of the time at Alabama if his throw looked a little behind the receiver or too low, when you watched the replay it was because he was trying to keep the throw away from the defender and protect the receiver.

The people closest to you, can often enough, cause you the most pain, because of insecurities, fear, jealousy or whatever other adjectives you may want to fit in there, that they might have. What impressed me the most about Tua is his maturity. He speaks way beyond his years. Some people have wisdom early, some people just don’t and never have it or get it, and live a life of blame for their failures or let their ego’s get in the way. It’s a composition of keeping one’s ego in check too, for an ago can destroy a person who becomes intoxicated by it. It’s no wonder Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl, I’ve never heard him

    Dilfer was even right about "he's got to get rid of the Superman complex" - every major injury he had at Alabama, the 2 high ankle sprains and the severe hip injury, were from trying to extend plays when nothing was there instead of throwing the ball away and pass rushers rolled him up. On the play this season against Cincy where he got concussed, he was trying to save a bad play and actually did complete the pass but he completely exposed himself to do it.

The play everyone suspected but nobody knows for sure was the green bay game, because no one noticed he had a concussion until they were doing film study the next day. He did get the ball out almost Mahomes like as he was falling to the right and pitched it out to the TE just barely before going down. He was falling towards his throwing shoulder and rolled to land on his back instead and whipped himself into the turf when he hit.

Was Tua lighting it up in his first 2 years? no. But between the situation he was in and the flashes he showed there was no reason to jump ship and call him a weak arm QB who can't play in the NFL. It's like the media was under mass hypnosis and forgot just how good he was and what made him SPECIAL. Now with a coach who believes in him and talent around him you are watching him do all the things that made him a GENERATIONAL QB prospect. Quick decision making, Fast processing, elite anticipation, all with pinpoint accuracy and an arm that is severely underrated. I jumped for joy when we drafted this kid and I have never felt this way towards an athlete in my life. Tua came into the NFL recovering from what was thought was career ending. He had a coach who didn't want him or didnt believe in him. Miami had an awful offense. Bad O line. No running game. Not the greatest recievers. Plus it takes time to get back your strength from the injury he had. These aren't excuses, these are facts. Throwing power also is affected by your hips. When Tua came to Miami he was coming off a devastating hip injury, dealing with a coach that had no misgivings about his distaste for him and pulled him at every chance for a washed up has been in Fitzpatrick (no disrespect intended). Since Flores has gone and the QB controversy as well, McD has come in, they have put ayers around him that can actually make plays and he is shining like the star that most thought he would be. I am a lifelong Dolphins fan and have pined for the glory days of the 70's, or even to be relevant again like when we had Dan the man. I had a bunch of Washington fans and friends telling me I was crazy and I didn't know what I was talking about, yet here we are in year 3 with Tua hitting that potential that was SOOOO OBVIOUSLY there and Chase Young having 1 good year and still not returning from a severe injury (one of the things they said they worried about with Tua). Washington STILL doesn't have it's answer at QB! Had I been their GM, they'd have D.K. Metcalf, Tua, and KaDarius Toney at WR, AND Jonathan Taylor at RB (they traded their 2nd rd pick, #34 to Indy. Taylor was drafted #41 in the 2nd round!). That team would've been set up for success for the next 10-15 years! We DEFINITELY missed the boat on Tua! Whenever I heard Dolphins fans whining about him I always said, "Please send him to Washington! He's most welcome!".

But they were blind to the fact that in his 1st year Tua didn't have a preseason due to lingering his vicious injury, and the the 2nd year there was the pandemics and he couldn't practice as desired. Then we all saw how was treated by Flores and the owner. Finally, until the 3rd year he had a normal off-season and season so-far. The FO had the vision of putting the right weapons around him and here are the results. Tua had overcome trouble after trouble with great attitude a
    and spirit. And pundits are simply unable to understand that. They only see the surface. Many were saying "Dolphins made a big mistake, they should've selected Herbert" bla bla bla. Well, despite the 3 games that he was out, the Dolphins are in 1st place in their division. Yes the season is far of ending and the most important part begins on Sunday. But Tua is right now the best option the Dolphins can have to go to the playoffs. No Rodgers, no Brady, no Watson, no Herbert nobody but Tua himself. And the players around him know that, which is the most important.

    When I watched him in his first NFL games I had heard a lot of negativity about his arm and his size. I realized quickly that there was some truth to it because he was throwing long balls short and most noticably I noticed he couldn't see over the lineman in front of him. I also.... however....noticed how quick his movement is and how he senses pass rushers coming to him. I noticed how good he is at RPOs. He's excellent at hiding the football and selling the defense on the run. His agility is impressive. It took him awhile to figure out how to find visibility over the line.....but he's come light years in that regard. He moves extremely well in and out of the pocket which allows him more time and open views of his routes. He's figured out his way to greatness. He's practiced movement and foot control and figured out where he needs to be to create a play. This was all visible from the start. Some guys take more time to adjust to the league.....his height was an issue but he overcame that through movement. His arm was an issue but he overcame that with footwork and by the organization having enough sense to provide receivers that create some space. Injury is something of concern but every QB is potentially one hit away from a lost season or career. It simply didn't take a rocket scientist to see... immediately....that this kid is a winner. He took SO MUCH heat from the media but kept his composure and kept working on the things he needed to work on. I laugh when people discuss arm strength. It means very little if you can't do everything else correctly.

    Couldn't be happier for this kid. As a longtime Dolphins fan, I've seen quite a few young QB's not get a fair chance to see if they could succeed. Constant bad management, coaching ESPECIALLY, had led to several years of inconsistency. Rarely had a decent O-line, receivers often overall weren't good, run game was off and on, and NEVER could the offense get the Run, Pass & o-line to work together, all while having multiple coaches with huge egos, a lack of creativity to best use what they have and instead would force players to play to THE COACHES style instead of creating an offense to their strengths. McDaniel is not only incredibly gifted at creating and calling plays, but he's amazing at connecting with his players, something teams really should look for more often with their coaches. Couldn't be a more clear case of a talented player who was written off because of a bad situation PROVING EVERYONE WRONG. A combination of a great coach with a talent and a plan, connecting with his team on an even level and as equals to show a bunch f young and talented players that they are in this together and that THEY HAVE the talent to see their ultimate goal through! Phins up baby 🐬

    I just hate miami is on bye this week. I wanna keep this tua train rolling and see just how far they can go. Although I know the bye is good so we can get some of the injured talent back on the field, especially on D

    Trent was the right coach for Tua at the elite 11!!!His hip injury put probably the greatest atlete of all time Bo Jackson.Peaple tend to forget a lot of your velocity throwing comes from your leg and hip.It took Tua 3 yrs. to recover from that injury and is still getting stronger.Watch his Alabama highlights pre injury.Never once did i ever hear Tua blame the injury for his lack of spin on the ball even though everyone wad bashing him.He just put his head down and worked hard!!!

    Tua's got the hi mental quarterback IQ. He's got the most accurate arm in the nfl. He lead the nfl in QBR RATINGS last season. TUA'S got the work ethic and discipline and hunger to improve and succeed. His health will always be his determining factor to his success

    I will admit that in the beginning I wasn’t very impressed but he has improved tremendously over the 2 1/2 seasons with Miami and I’m sure he will continue to get better if possible lol cause he’s awesome.

    Tua used to have great mobility and velocity before his injuries. I don't think he will ever get back to that player, but he is still really good with his diminished capabilities.

    The reason he looks so good, the players at ALabama especially skilled position RS fast as NFL players. So being that he could already know how to adjust to the game being fast, the MVP.

      What people keep saying about Tua now, is it's just because of his receivers and the talent he has around him. That's not the case it's still mostly the QB. Tua is helping Hill and Waddle just as much as they're helping him. Tua put every single receiver he played with in Alabama into the NFL and he got most of his receivers drafted in the 1st round. I've never seen a QB go thru all his reads as fast as Tua

      Well Tua did get a season ending injury and thought he wasn't going play no more and didn't throw for awhile at that time. It was a major set back for Tua headed into the NFL draft.. And that video was made with Trent Dilfer way before headed College at elite 11 when he was a senior in HS.........If he didn't get hurt he would've been #1 in the draft.
