He doesn't bother, cause he's so cool they'd just lose their temperature anyway.
ICEMAN!!!
Underrated comment
He is braking while driving to get the brakes hot the core heat will warm up the tire almlst instantly whole the tire warming from the other just goes away a few seconds after
Its smart strategy, when he can use the tires for longer time then in the race, before he needs to pit.
Best comment
Engineer: Kimi, warm the tyres
Kimi: FOR WHAT
Just leave him alone...he knows what he's doing🥶😎
You lose rubber when you warm them, so technically he can drive longer without a swap i think
Kimi: "Bwoahh"
Just leave me alone I know what I am doing
@@Makaya9s it’s just the warmer your tires the more grip you have
"Kimi, how do you warm your tyres?"
"I drive fast"
Seems like something he would actually say 😂
This comment is from Canon scenes from "The Iceman"
brake a lot
it’s actually the best way to warm them up by going fast then braking hard and repeat
"Kimi, did you feel tempted to weave during the safety car to warm your tires?"
"No."
You know he'd give an answer like "it looks stupid so I don't do it"
“I was having a piss”
"Why would I exert that energy? Are you dumb? SHUT UP JUST SHUT UP LET ME RACE"
No he wants his tires to longer, when the other drivers actually wearing out their tired little bit trying to get them up to the temparture.
He is also hanging the brake and using the heat from the brakes to keep the tires hot..... without scrubbing the rubber
@@Jout8-re1ijNo, it’s because it doesn’t heat the tires. It also doesn’t wear them. I never swerved around either to try and generate temperature because I was sure it did nothing. I confirmed this when we ran with streaming temp sensors on my tires and we confirmed the temp generated was infinitesimal.
Kimi had his own techniques for keeping the tyres up to temp, one of the tricks he used was understeering into corners on purpose.

Because he "knows what he is doing"
Well yeah hes heating up the core temperature of the tires because the surface temperature gets cooled off once you start driving faster
I don’t know if this is a satire, but it’s safe to say yes he knows what he’s doing, granted that…you know… he is a legend in FORMULA 1?
@@yuhemhikotaro6409I think it's reference to what he said to his team when they were trying to tell him to do something that he didn't agree with.
Gloves!….. Gloves!!!!! 😂
Correct - absolutely no reason to jink side to side (unless you are checking out the steering rack). F1 tyres are heated 'mostly' by longitudinal forces (accel & decel). Lateral forces are almost negligible behind a safety car (i.e. no high speed cornering). So Kimi either listened to his engineers else he just couldn’t be bothered moving his arms…. Likely the latter.

😂😂😂😂 Awh dude, this made my day..

thats cold af, camera focused on him while in the background all cars are weaving
The camera was focused on the safety car and basically the whole grid, lol.
Would you prefer the camera to focus on the weaving cars?
@@FellianTheDragonno, there are other things to focus on too
That's why he's called "The Iceman"
@@bwoah76I mean at this point what should it be focused on, someone eating a hotdog?
Kimi to this day is still Ferrari's last champion.
It said alot on Ferrari internal and Kimi's willpower.
Altho massa begs to differ bruj
It's funny and sad at the same time
And will still be for many more years.
I think Raikonnen inheriting the very strong team management structure that gave Schumacher a clear run without interference from the REMFs at Maranello has helped a lot with this 🤔
Once that strong core was eroded the traditional scuderia political shitfuckery resumed 😒
Kimi you need to warm your tyres

Kimi being the smartest person on the grid as usual.
Idk man, Kimi has one Championship, every champion since the 90s minus Kimi has warmed up their tires lol
@@kaio37khe was very close/probably should have gotten at least one more.
Also it’s widely recognized that he had/has an incredible amount of just raw talent. When he went into f1 he had something like 23 races in other leagues to his name. In total.
The FIA actually didn’t want to give him a super license because of how little experience he had.
@@fragdude I'm not denying that, he was incredibly talented. I'm only talking about this tire warming method. If something sticks in F1, there's a good, verifiable reason for it. Tire warming helps.
If he was so smart why he always got beaten by vettel (who DID warm his tyres)? 😅
because there are more variables the affect success than tire warming @@IniziaGara
Never forget him driving around everyone at portugal like they were on ice and he was on a 50 degree track
Portugal caralho
And he was fighting Ferrari's in a f*cking Alpha Romeo.
That comment really loses its emphasis when you use Celsius instead of Fahrenheit... 50 is a smaller number than 130. You realize that, right? Metric is not impressive at all. Nobody knows wtf you're talking about when you say, "My penis is 12 centimeters." It's like wtf is that 2.7 inches? Yall have little itty bitty baby boy units.
@@VLAPP0that's what i said lol
What year ?
He saved the mileage of the tyres by not warming them😂
that what i think
He still did warm them up just used a technique that does it overtime. He heats the brakes up so the tires warm up in the core instead of only on the outside wall which dissappears as soon as you're on the straight which heat from the brakes doesn't.
thisssssssss is the correct answer. been searching for it@@tkurisuu
@@tkurisuu The only correct cmment working the tyres scrubbs them even microns add life and keep a higher speed a higher number of laps
@@freeman7788 Working the break is great for keeping the core up to temp but does very little to maintain the outside warm, hence why drivers do both.
he focuses on heating the brakes to bring up the core tyre temp
And having next to no tyre wear

The real reason is that weaving only really heats the surface of the front tyres which is useful sure, but what you really want to do is use the brakes to heat up the inside of the tyres, so that they retain their heat & don’t cool down before the safety car restart. Also you don’t want to overheat your tyres as that will actually make them lose grip
which also extends the tires' lifespan
You cant overheat tires like this
Absolute nonsense. First, you can't overheat the tires at this speed, and second the tires retain their heat by consistently going fast. Not by "heating the inside".
If that were true the tire warmers they use before races would have a heating element inside the wheel.
"yes yes yes I'm doing it all the time so you don't have to remind me every 2 seconds". He just uses the brakes to warm them
Kimi just built different. God i miss him.
Him and Ari Vatanen are absolute legends
Kimi rides with the breaks on instead, warms the tyres through the core temperature of the wheel itself, which is ultimately better as you're gaining grip without losing longevity on the tyre.
Literally not true. You just played the F1 game and assumed he does it irl. You have brain worms
I miss old F1 matches. 2000-2008 era
Pre 2000s
They don’t call him Ice man for no reason
Team Radio : "Kimi, get your tires warm"
Kimi : "I have ice cream"

That McLaren from 2004...best looking car ever!
One of my fav cast ever for some reason his debut car, that 2001 sauber was something else, the most competitive sauber ever in the right time for kimi get the spotlight
Kimi: why is everyone weaving
"The best way to warm up the tires is to go fast" - Kimi probably.
His name is Kimi Raikkonen 😂
Which is 100% true. Weaving doesn't do much if anything at all.
They don’t call him the iceman for nothing
I miss kimi F1 i not the same without him.
Kimi don’t warm his tyres, he warms the track
He's not one of the sheep, he does things his way
I think he said something like the weaving heats the tyre unevenly so if you warm them up by braking it spreads the heat more evenly
Bro is so chill, that he likes it🧊💪🥶
He likes his tyres like his personality, that way he truly be one with car
Kimi uses hard cornering to warm his tires just so you guys know he’s stated this in an interview he warms his tires and keeps them warm in the race through corners
Engineer: Kimi warm the tires please
Kimi: Green light and i will.
😂😂😂
Your wheels will never get hot if the person driving it is "The Ice Man"
The Iceman likes his tyres cold.
"The tyres wont warm up anyways!"
-iceman
Waving is actually not the best way to heat ur tyres, especially in f1 brake temperatures work better, u can damage the tyre by waving like that without the good temperature in the tyre
That's the dumbest thing i read today
Why aren't you on that grid?
@@lucasjung5382what he said is kind a accurate
Waving would allow you to heat your sidewalls better than braking.
@@chellom292yeah I’m sure all the other racers know less about warming up
„How are u gonna warm ur tyres“
Kimi: „Yes“
Advantage is he doesn’t lose rubber and warming tires through the brakes is always better because more efficient
Coolest man ever to drive a f1 car!!
“He never warmed up his tires” is not a reason he doesn’t warm up his tires. It’s simply a measure of time that he’s not been warming up his tires.
He doesn't want to feel dizzy before the race.
because he is from finland so he lived his childhood in cold
Why does it look so cold when he's not moving🥶
Saves fuel saves tires
Im so glad i got to see a bunch of f1 before it died
He prefers his tyres cold....ICE COLD 🥶
So sad Kimi and Seb both retired around the same time, now none of the drivers have legendary personalities like those two did 😢
never liked Vettel that much if I'm honest; but I get what you're saying
He looks like “nah, I’d win” just sitting in the middle of the pack
Kimi is a legend. Not just from his records and legacy, but how he just drove for himself and no one else.
He cpuld have also drove with the brakes engaged a little and the brakes heat up the tires
Bro had no steering wheel on. He’s still looking for the steering wheel.
Edit: WOW! I haven’t gotten that many likes before on CZcams. Thanks all! ❤️
Underrated comment. Made me laugh a lot
Always found it interesting that Grosjean, when he started IndyCar, was advised to drag the brakes (what Kimi is doing) instead of weaving because he had trouble getting temp in the tires. I imagine the difference in tire construction (Grosjean left pre-18" rims) made weaving a lot more useful in F1 at the time, whereas you definitely see it less now
It is useless anyway. The wear is not worth the tiny warmth gained at such low speeds with low downforce. Kimi was the best with his tyre wear. This is a small part why. Longitudinal heating from braking is incomparably more effective.
I think he was warming them and the rest was just maintaining temperature, I don't remember where I saw this explanation tho
Smart move he save two laps of the Tyres

He was a clean and fast driver.
He was probably trail braking. Getting the brakes hot warms the tires from the inside, swerving gets the surface hot but is quick to dissipate. Kimi just being Kimi
Ironically that’s cold asf
He's actually warming them better than everyone else. They're weaving to get the outside temp up, he's using the brakes and riding them while on the throttle to warm the inside of the tyres, which is much more important. Everyone else is going outside in, he's going inside out.
Lmao... driving straight is the most optimal way to warm up your tyres evenly 😂
The iceman likes his tyres ice cold
cause he's the iceman 🥶
Kimi doesn't need rules, he's the rules🥶🔥

Kimi never gave a shit about anything but winning. Gotta love him for that.
No Drink! No Steering! No warming tyres🥃

He gets enough core heat from his brakes
Because his tires were so hot they were still cooling!😂
Man he got his ways 1 he understeers into corners on purpouse 2 he breaks hard to bring up core tyre temp. But he is still a legend he looks like a go while doing that

No stupid answers just enjoyed watching him for years . Loved his attitude and his expertise 🥰
He doesn’t warm his tires with the zipper method he regulates and controls the temps in his tires with his breaking techniques and by his corner tactics Kimi just has always been super in tune with his
He knows what he's doing
Because he is the 'Iceman'.
Weaving doesn't do much to heat up tyres (only the very surface and quickly dissipates). It's breaking and accelerating that actually gets the tyres properly warm through the rubber and is the most efficient. Especially nowadys with newer tyre-heating technology
That's why he's called the ice man, loves his tyres ice cold 😂
As a non thermodynamic expert i can say with confidence that he is so cool that all of the cars heat gets pushed to the tires because that is the ground contact point
He looks like an absolute beast roaring down the straight
The track warm his tires for him
"Yo kimi warm em tires"
"Even while having the downforce of your weight."
For those that don't know, Kimi had a very unique driving style. Where most pro drivers love controlled oversteer (which heats up rear tyres much faster in turns) in their setups, Kimi preferred the opposite in a controller understeer setup (which heats up front tyres much faster in turns). Weaving on straights pretty much only heats up the fronts, so naturally, Kimi didn't do it for the sake of overheating the front tyres once racing resumed
The iceman loves his tyres ice cold
Ackkk i miss kimi
He's the Iceman, he's cold as fuck, his tyres were never gonna warm up anyway.
That first footage was cold as fuck. Just as those tyres.
