I found that instagram is ruining many people's lives not because of the body dysmorphia they get from seeing fitter people, but from the sadness they get when they see that everyone has a "better" life than them, a happier one, as everybody is displaying only the highlights of their lives.

I feel sorry for Menno. The fitness bubble is so saturated nowadays (not only on CZcams) that it will be really tough for him to achieve the number of subscribers that this channel would deserve.

I don’t think he’s too terribly concerned with that but I understand what you’re saying. His authenticity and intelligence is very apparent, fitness channels are poorly lacking in that department.

Great content as always Menno. Been following you for probably 7-8 years now. Took your PT course in 2016 and I tell people it's the best fitness education I've received... and I have a Master's in exercise science. Wishing you massive success here on CZcams.

This is an interesting topic. Last time I was in Las Vegas hanging out with some show girls/ hostesses. They want guys that are 6'+ tall, six pack abs but not have that "skinny" look, needed to be educated with $500k + a year income, be between 32 a 45 yrs old and single ready to get married. I explained that was less than 1% of men, good luck. 😂

It's one thing when there are one or two beautiful people in your hometown, as has been the case for centuries. You accept that these people have been blessed and move on with your life. The problem with social media is the perception that everyone or most people are exceptional looking and naturally that way, so you are the freak if you aren't perfect. We have a situation where people who couldn't accept getting less attention because they weren't naturally beautiful have had many cosmetic procedures, use make-up, use special lighting and angles and filters, often undisclosed, to appear beautiful when they are not. I don't think it should be banned and we should take responsibility for our feeds but the backlash is justified.

I mostly subscribe to friends and "educators" like you who I can learn from. I've applied so many things I've learned from your channel, from RP Nutrition, Mike Israetel, Alan Aragon, Brad Schoenfeld, Kboges, etc. The list goes on. I am LOVING the Baysian Curls and have seen marked improvments in my arms after incorporating them along with Overhead Verticle Tricep Cable Presses. My arms are blowing up! Keep up the great educational content and keeping it real!

I loved this. However I will never understand why seeing a big girl on the cover of a magazine is outrageous because "it's not healthy" while seeing super skinny people (models, celebrities in general) who we know live a very unhealthy lifestyle should be any better. Being obese is not healthy but I will always think that the complaint on this is about censorship rather than what's healthy or not.

I don't think mandating edited content to clearly state that it is edited, is extreme at all.
It's just mandating honesty in marketing. I absolutely do not think someone should be able to able to market products in scammy ways.
Mike o'Tren lives off of implying that buying his useless supplements is going to make you able to achieve his physique, which is pure snake oil.
One of the few things I have zero issues with the government in, is hitting back at scammers and bullshitters.

  • @itaikaufman2986
    @itaikaufman2986 Před 11 měsíci

First of all I think you have a top physique, if someone says disagree he is being ridicolous, in addition I agree that people who lifts are too harsh on themselves when it comes to their physique, I'm not truly happy with my physique because I'm around 20% at the moment and I gained a lot of muscle since I started working out but its not impressive because I started extremely skinny, but still when I look around me I barely see people that are leaner than me and having more muscle mass simultanously.
By the way no offence but the bf% guide is not accurate in my opinion, first of all DEXA is off like any other estimation, and overall it looks like in the range between 16-17 to 30-33 there are inaccuracies, for exmaple some guys with visibly lower body fat got a higher body fat assesment compared to others that looked much fatter but got a lower body fat assesment than them.

OMG, new years res gym influx. The absent third is back in force. Anyways! We live in The Age of Technological Degeneration (A.K.A The Idiocracy). We are physically, psychologically, socially, and emotionally degenerating FAST! Super measurable effect. From cancer, to depression, to muscle mass societies problems are not improving. None more so than in behavioral standards. Preventing all of the above demands some level of resistance training to have an effective routine and method of prevention. Is the primary resistance to sarcopenia which systemically affects everything you are. Without practicing hypertrophic fitness you are at much greater risk of technological degeneration. Will turn you into a turd if you do not resist it. BE AWARE!!!
So you pretty much have to do resistance training to prevent sarcopenia. You need to brush your teeth if you want to keep them too. Is it "normal" to not brush your teeth? Is it "normal" to let yourself wither from sarcopenia? What do you think Darwin has to say about it? Do normal people look worse than they should because they are degenerated from modern sedentary lifestyles? With that in mind, are normal people failing to cope with modern lifestyles? Are their bodies weaker than they should be? Are their foodstuffs designed to reasonably achieve consistently healthy body compositions across society? Or is the energy density of the food on average way too high, and the nutrient density pitiful?
Thank god for the "obsession" with fitness. Could it only equal the obsession with the concomitants of physical degeneration(sarcopenia) that comes to people of the modern age too young, and too acutely. According to many date distributions. Even skeletal remains of ancient peoples who lived outside of civilization and agriculture. Their remains are larger, and have less signs of disease than skeletons from agrarian civilizations.
We dont have a choice about working out if we are being responsible individuals who's conscious minds can regulate behavior. I am telling you, if you just show up like you need to and work out regular intensity you are going to have a great musculature. I really like Mennos presentation about body builders pre PEDs. Those guys looked amazing. When you saw their equipment and read their journal you could see how super sub optimal it was. Yet it got amazing results in some cases. You may even wonder if such people are on PEDs if you were not pretty well certain they couldn't have been. facebook.com/MennoHenselmans/posts/what-can-you-achieve-as-a-natural-lifter-heres-some-fitspiration-from-india-thes/703878004437625/. Also, mennohenselmans.com/strength-standards-for-natural-lifters/ .
So normal would really be as good as most instamodels anyway. Because once your not a victim of technological physical degeneration, you may be surprised how much you stand out amongst the mobs of the afflicted.

I am a muslim viewer of yours and appreciate your content, as you know, it provides great and comprehensive insight into complicated scientific topics. However, when you made a reference as to why woman are !sometimes! Obligated in islamic countries to wear an hijab, i was baffeled. Your reasoning as to why those woman are obligated to do so, is very short sighted. I think that there is online enough information available as to why it's actually mandatory in some countries, so you can respectfully adjust your view of islamic ruling. I hope you can find the time to correct your shortcomings in terms of knowledge regarding your comment and hope to hear from you.
