    I stumbled across your channel this morning when searching for info on ITB tuning. Your content is the clearest and most easily digestible of all technical info I have found for DIY enthusiasts. Perfect balance between idiots guide and advice only experts can make sense of. Thank you.

    Thank you so much for this beautiful and professional presentation, it explained a lot and makes me seriously think my PCM ground needs a good inspection and an electrical test.
    My 02 Camaro keeps losing power from low/insufficient knock sensor and o2 sensor readings but now I think it must be one of the grounds instead.
    BTW: You sound exactly like Scotty Kilmer, a very popular YT auto mechanic legend👍

    I found you through Stinger Performance. I am getting ready to change out my Factory PCM to one of theirs. Viewing your channel you are extremely clear with your content But you calling and engine a motor drives me crazy. I am old school. But an motor starts an engine. LoL

    very good info here. i have a ducati monster 796 and all my continuity tests and voltage tests pass out.but i still dont have any power on my dash.my pass light,brake lights,tail lights and horn work.but the bike does not crank and neither the the meter light up.i suspect a bad ecu. any advice here?thanks.

    You never mentioned if the ECU had to have a ground wire going to itself instead of through the wire harness cuz the ECU on my diesel has rubber grommets insulating the ECU and I ain't getting no ground to certain things

  • @brandonsalas6552
    @brandonsalas6552 Před rokem

    Brilliant i feel like i should have paid for your course my ect 2 radiator mounted glitches back and forth maybe 30 times a minute at most say and only tenths of a degree 40.0 -40.7while key on engine off would that likely be a ground issue? My issue is no ground to my fly by wire throttle module, relay, and so on throttle body 07 accord

    • @brandonsalas6552
      @brandonsalas6552 Před rokem

      Coming from the ecu d15 pin /connector to relay car starts off as it would burn out breaks one. Tire free then it falls on its face so hard i actually fly forward and hit the horn every time😢

    Is it wise to have a big ground wire between block and chasis?

    • @jayhorsley80
      @jayhorsley80 Před 6 lety

      Yes

    • @jayhorsley80
      @jayhorsley80 Před 6 lety

      It is the chassis ground that works for lights, radio and whatever else you ground to the frame.

  • @brandonsalas6552
    @brandonsalas6552 Před rokem

    Questions so that means you cannot run extra ground wire from your battery to an engine, ground engine block or something of that nature because it’ll make a interference via ground and do you think my ECU is grounded through the case to the party or no

    • @802Garage
      @802Garage Před 8 měsíci

      DO NOT ground the ECU to both the battery and another ground such as chassis or engine block. Pick one common ground point. Generally the cylinder head is preferred for proper star grounding. Most ECU are not grounded through the case.

  • @jamesbenedict6991
    @jamesbenedict6991 Před 2 lety

    Im not sure how you got 100 amps for the starter when the fuse is only rated 30 amps for about every car iv seen

    • @jamesbenedict6991
      @jamesbenedict6991 Před 2 lety

      It just came to me that the 30 amp only runs the toggle for the motor and the motor is wired directly to the battery with a 150 amp fuse. So yes you are right lol you should have mentioned that. The starter and the solenoid pull more than 100 amps if you look at them as a whole

  • @filipesbp
    @filipesbp Před 5 lety +1

    Reading the Megasquirt manual it says to connect the ECU only to the engine block, what is the bad part of that?

    • @AndyWhittle_HowEFIworks
      @AndyWhittle_HowEFIworks  Před 5 lety +2

      The video was based on the latest consensus of the guys that write the manuals. The MS manuals have not been updated.

    • @alzimme86
      @alzimme86 Před 4 lety +2

      Yeah I have the MS3pro ultimate and 4.12 says to do that. However Haltech, Adaptronic, etc etc agree that is not best. Wish they'd update important stuff like that in the manual and provide more information on it.

    • @Shiznit304
      @Shiznit304 Před 2 lety

      @@alzimme86 don't ground your ecu to the block and battery at the same time.

    • @802Garage
      @802Garage Před 8 měsíci

      Generally most ECU manufacturers now recommend to ground the ECU to a common point on the engine, usually the cylinder head. DO NOT ground an ECU to both the battery and another shared ground. Use only one grounding method.

    The engine doesn't run off the battery, it runs off the alternator. Once running the battery does nothing except charge. ...so running earths back to the battery is technically wrong except for when it's starting.
