House of the Dragon is an American fantasy drama television series created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan J. Condal for HBO. It is a prequel to the television series Game of Thrones and is based on Martin's 2018 novel Fire & Blood. Set two hundred years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the beginning of the end of House Targaryen, the events leading up to the Targaryen civil war, known as the "Dance of the Dragons", and the war itself. The main contenders are Houses Targaryen, Hightower, Stark, Baratheon, Arryn and Velaryon.

They definitely took note of how much people talked about Criston Cole's lack of aging. I didn't even recognize him at first in the trailer, but this is the change we should've seen in the second part of season 1. Oh well, at least they are paying attention.
For real, only found out through people online. I watched the trailed a couple dozen times and never saw him.

I think the scene of Rhaenyra and Syrax on the beach is them meeting with Laenor and Seasmoke after he returns from Essos. The show decided to keep him alive for some reason and I wouldn't be surprised if they brought him back for the war. Unless the show changes how dragon bonds work, which would mess with the story of one of Rheanyra's sons, it wouldn't make sense if Seasmoke accepts a new rider while Laenor is still alive.
It’ll be an interesting storyline. They show Rhaenyra, Syrax and the opposing dragon but never reveal the other human. I ask why? Why is that person such a secret? Could it be Laenor? Maybe. Does he somehow “give up” Seasmoke? I’m hoping they don’t mess with the ability of dragon bonds too much.
It’s not Laenor. They didn’t bring his actor back for filming. It is Rhaenyra and Addam’s actor. Laenor can die offscreen. Get over it.
I know exactly what will happen, the moment they realise that new riders can't claim Seasmoke, Daddy Daemon will send one of his minions to kill Laenor, which is very plausible since he's the one who does Rhaenyra's dirty works. And this doesn't change how dragon bond works either.
Another thing is, if they bring Laenor back, Rhaenys and Corlys would know (they already know but that'd certainly confirm it) that Daemon and Rhaenyra plotted all that just to marry and gain Corlys' support to Blacks which might lead to him altering his allegiance.

I love how many historical inspirations and aesthetics there are for this conflict. From the English Anarchy to the family dynamics of the Ptolemies.
The shot of Helaena in the rain was the best shot. Her character is the tragedy aficionado's wet dream. Remember when targ cultoids wh8ned all summer about helaena getting dragon dreams and screen time?

They'll be there, but a side house but not a main contender. That was A Song of Ice and Fire.
That said a prequel Stark show would be cool. Seeing bran the builder the first long night, the building of the wall.

4:24 remember, Daemon participates in the books and is rumored to participate in the battle between blackwood and bracken. This could be executing a bracken at the Raventree since the blackwoods still keep the old gods.
Or an execution of a green supporter at Harrenhal. Either way, Daemon will be busy in the riverlands
Life is always a little better when it's GOT season and Carmine & PJ are back to business lfg.
GRRM watched the first two eps & said "they were dark, very dark mind you. They may make you cry. Powerful, emotional, gut-wrenching, heart rending." Which means it's going to be the exact opposite of whatever would've made targ stans happy. Couple things going into this season: 1)A woman existing in the middle ages is inherently agentic; her being pulled by centrifugal forces of complicated relationships that contradict each other is reflective of real life; passive characters reacting to & failing to overcome barriers set by a feudal society is a far more interesting narrative than hate & jealousy. No, "agency" doesn't only mean D&D's version of Cersei Maergery. No, a female antagonist doesn't have have to be either a "perfect victim" or a "cunning manipulator". 2)"Childhood friendships" exist not only cause they're far more interesting than cinderella narratives, but also cause they add much needed depth to the future tribulations of said ex friends. They don't exist to be endgame ships, the tragedy comes specifically due to them not being so. 3)Real life villains don't walk around with a binder labeled "evil master plan" under their armpits, they don't always have everything under control, things like coups are supposed to be messy. 4) Prophesies & visions in Awoiaf are meant to be mirages, chasing them are supposed to be a cautionary tale of the pursuit of power. They don't exist as a magic 8 ball that helps the heroine to overcome the Final Boss & save the world. Best fit for a prophetic character is a mute Cassandra, not a dragon riding girlboss. 5) Finally, the chapter is called "Princess & the Queen" & the anthology is called "Dangerous Women".The War of 5 Kings didn't just revolve around the kings. But hey, if they want a good versus evil hollywood war, they can always watch 300. But no matter how much tantrum they throw & try to sabotage the show, they will never get that one dimensional evil stepmother doormat caricature who only exist to make their platinum blonde princess look good.
So this notification is how I leant about the trailer and it couldn't be from a better source than this channel

Wait...are they going to combine Nettles and Addam? Now that would be interesting, if Nettles herself comes back to prove her own loyalty. If she's riding Seasmoke, that means Rhaenyra has even more reasons to not like her, because she would be proof that her husband of 10 years (lovers or not, that's still an important relationship), has in fact died. Then we get the Daemon stuff, and then the final nail in the coffin would be the betrayal of the other dragon riders, casting further doubt on her loyalty to Rhaenyra.

@@alanpennie Of course. Not the general public. I mean no sane person would. But the hardcore targ stans on social media do. But then again they also constantly hate on Jaehaera & tried to bully the 4 year old actress that was cast, so hating Helaena is nothing. It's got nothing to do with the story, it's mainly just "why are the greens getting characterization & screentime instead of being cartoon villain doormats for my platinum blonde Disney princess ".

ok, I don't understand why everyone glosses over the snippet of Alicent standing near what appears to be a lake. Am I the only one who is curious about that scene? Why is she in her nightgown just looking sadly into the fog? My first thought was maybe this was after the battle of the gods eye, of her mourning Aemond maybe, but I think that will only happen in season 3. Where is she at and why is she there?

Man… I tried keeping up the initial livestream up for as long as I can to watch it but i guess HBO removed the initial livestream because when I accidentally clicked off of the livestream, after the livestream had concluded, it was not on the channel for rewatch. Oh well 🤷♂️

So I have a feeling that since young Aegon doesn't have his dragon, Baela will be at the battle of the gullet and take him away, and Jace will try to take Viserys and that is when IT will happen. S2 will probably end with Rhaenyra taking flight to take Kings Landing.
Eras, Errors or both
I’m in the minority who is happy not to see house Stark.
Why? I mean they're not in the story a lot, just when the one prince goes to the north to get their support and the prince had a thing with a stark daughter. And then the hour of the wolf which I really can't wait for.
But this is mainly a southern story and ppl of the north don't particularly jump into southern wars
@@jordanpax9735 you are basically answering your own question. This story is not the Stark’s story. The hour of the wolf shouldn’t happen this season therefor the Starks shouldn’t do anything that important this season. They could have a one episode minor side story involving a romance between a prince and a Snow, but that should not be all that important for the season as a whole therefor there is no need to include that in the trailer. That is my opinion.
@@jordanpax9735 also, I am concerned that the show might expand the Stark story just for fan service and that could harm the narrative. That’s why I see the lack of Starks in the trailer as a good sign.
If they show Winterfell briefly, and I mean very briefly, in a longer future traitor i would be fine with that.

Pls don't blame the starks and stark fans if the show runner whose already changed things. Makes more changes. Remember this is an adaptation of George's vision. But not his whole vision, like seasons 5-8 of got
Also remember with that whole battle for the throne, there is the bracken v blackwood's war. With an important lady from the blackwood's who needs to be well known and shown enough for her role in staying the bloodshed in the wolf hour. Plus a lot of northmen marry into the riverlands because the b v b war and dance have killed that much of their population.
I want to see nettle and the deal of ice and fire where the starks are promised a Targaryens princess in the future that they'll never get
So exciting that they have 1000 years in the book to cover so we might get 10 to 20 seasons

Helaena has three beautiful children. Daemon sends assassins named Cheese and Blood to find Helaena, and murder one of her children. They corner her with them, and tells her to choose one of them to die. She ends up choosing her youngest son, a two year old - but they laugh at her, and behead her eldest son instead. IT's so heartwrenching. Last season we saw the heinous acts of the Greens - but I think this season is going to level the playing field and show us how evil the Blacks can be as well. No side in this fight is pure or 'better' than the other. Evil will come from both sides.

Judging by what they showed in that scene, chances are that he's beheading Gunthor Darklyn, the lord of House Darklyn at the time, who's seat was at Duskendale.

The only way I’d be fine with white walker references and maybe even appearances is if hotd is a prequel to the books and not GOT. Because it would just be insulting of hbo to keep reminding us of the abysmal failure of a plotline that was the long night. Of course it is a prequel to GOT though so i hope they stop giving us white walker teases, its too painful to watch.
