You have some coin dealers or collectors put old money into circulation to keep the hobby going/ interesting, or it could have came out of someones collection who have passed away and the family just spent the coin. I would have your family member to keep a look out of change coming into the store harder because it could more coming in or already in the store safe.

I would put the coin in a acid free flip keep from further damaging the coins from scratches/ hand oils.
