I just want a nice lawn, don't need reel for that. Water, Feed, Water, done!
💯💯 it’s that easy. Thanks for watching!
The front yard is looking amazing brother.
Thanks bud. The process has been fun, but I'm so ready for it to be finished. Appreciate ya watching.
Bada bing bada boom!! Excellent tips. Your front is going to flow so nicely with the back now. Great job! 💯
Thanks man. Really looking forward to having 2 sides of the lawn again lol. 👊👊
With a 1,000lb zero turn rotary mower God don't mow the same direction every time because you'll regret it!
Things are looking good Travis!
Yes! Great point. Appreciate ya adding that. Thanks for watching.
Simple, straight and to the point! The lawn looks super tight the way your cutting it right now! On a side note, the front landscaping is looking 👌
Thanks buddy. Appreciate that. Great to hear from ya. Hope you're having a good summer.
I love the people with 500 sq ft lawns telling people to double-cut.....Not happening in my 20,000 sq ft yard. I ain't mowing THAT twice. LOL!!
Lol, oh definitely. I wouldn't double cut that either. It's much easier working with less than 5000 sqft. Thanks so much for watching.
I agree lol
Real lawn tips for us everyday weekend warriors, Nice.
Glad ya like it. That's what I'm here for. Appreciate ya watching and commenting.
Nice! You're throwing down the knowledge in this one, Travis! I hadn't thought about a few of the tips you gave in the video that I'm going to have to try out next mow! Have a great rest of your weekend, brother 🤜🤛!
Thanks brother. Let me know if you see similar results from doing this. Appreciate ya watching. Enjoy your weekend. 👊
Great Video! Yes for dang sure, use a rotary. You can still cut low. I have a MTD rotary I bought form H Depot for $200 10 years ago. I service it twice a year and works like a dream. I mow at about 1 in out here in Oregon.
Thank you! I thought I would be upset that my new lawn is not conducive to reel mowing with all the slopes. But I'm really enjoying the undulations and rotary mowing now. Appreciate ya watching and your input.
Front yard is looking amazing! I owned a tb130 when I lived in TN and it was a solid mower wish I kept it. Only on CZcams does a Bermuda lawn have to be reel mowed. In the real world 99% of Bermuda grass is mowed by rotary with the exception being sports fields. That being said I wouldn't mind picking up a reel one day when I have time but never getting rid of the good old fashioned lawn mower! Great topic.
Thanks buddy. You hit the nail right on the head. Appreciate ya chiming in with that. Have a good day man!
You want green! Get that super juice! 😂
Fo sho, lol. It's magic. Better than paint haha. Appreciate ya watchin.
You mean Stupendous Juice!😂
😂😂
Love it I always mow forward the mow over the excact line so double cut over same line 👍👍👍👍👍 bit longer but great result 🥳🥳🥳🎉🎉🎉
👊👊 Totally agree. When you enjoy the mow, the little extra time gives ya a little more enjoyment. Thanks for watching!
I just planted kbg and perennial rye i only have a rotary mower so this is helpful Because i definitely want to.mow low!😊 thank you my friend i appreciate your videos !
Right on man. I think you'll do great with a rotary going low. Thanks so much. Appreciate your support!
Thanks man I appreciate the support I'm sure it will my friend
Thanks for the tips. I finally got the front lawn under control, working on the back now, it's a mess. 😅
👍👍 keep up the good work. Appreciate ya watching.
Excellent video Travis!! It is funny, I cut by halves all the time, I think I was taught that way and it has stuck! LOL Your front space is looking exquisite!! Keep up the great work, the battle continues!!
Thanks buddy. Great minds think alike. Appreciate the compliments. Excited for it to be finished. Have a great Sunday!
My lawn still isn't smooth either and you are right about going different directions. Even with a reel mower my lawn will scalp in some directions where it didn't when I go the other. Only time and leveling will fix that lol. I do mix it up still since I like the stripe action.
You got it figured out man. Sand is the ultimate solution. Thanks so much for watching and your insight as always.
Great tips. Lawn is not as low as I like 2.5". Can't get any lower because sod was installed like cobblestone with large spacing inbetween sheets where mover has 3 wheels on lawn and 1 not even touching grass at times. Thanks for video.
I feel ya man. That’s frustrating. Appreciate ya watching and chiming in.
Solid video. I'm an old fashioned rotary guy, myself.
Right on. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Another excellent vid Travis. Thank you brother.
Appreciate that. Thanks so much for watching!
Good tips Travis. I just about do them all. My HOC is at 1.5 with my EGO.
Right on man. Not surprised that I’m not the only one! Thanks for sharing. 👊
Thanks Travis. I primarily use a McLane 25 inch reel mower twice a week, but my 21 inch Honda HRX 217 rotary is nearly as good. So don't buy a reel mower unless you're an extreme lawn fanatic. And BTW, a reel mower doesn't mulch at all. So I find myself double cutting with the Honda after the McLane to mulch the clippings.
Great points man. Really valuable input. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Man you were cutting that front hill without self propelled?! I bet you were ready for that to go 😂
Hahaha, cutting and falling down at the same time. It was a pain. So glad to see it go. Thanks buddy.
Love that shirt! Best XC event in Arkansas!
💯💯 appreciate ya!
I have the Troybuilt 21 inch rotary with the Honda engine. I fact I have 2, my older one at my aunts house since she lives aways away and I don’t want to tote a mower over there when we mow. We have St Aug and mow at notch 6, the highest setting on the Troybuilt. Grass looks gorgeous, but it almost does look like it needs to be cut again once we’re done. LOL.
Haha. Solid little mowers for sure. I’d buy another one. Thanks so much as always. Appreciate ya.
Looks awesome!!
Thank you. Appreciate ya watching!
Gotta couple Arkansas products on the 🦅 roster looking forward to seeing them in the pre season 🏈.
Right on. Hope they don't let the Birds down. Great to hear from ya bud. Hope you're having a good weekend.
@@BudgetLawns 💯 on the wheel adjust when I cut my cool season it helped level out the deck! Zero stragglers now! Hoping to catch the show tonight!!
👊👊 hope to see ya soon!
The 2019 lawn pic looks super nice! What is the height of cut on the 2019? I have been doing 1".
Right at an inch as well. Thanks for watching. Appreciate you!
@@BudgetLawns Thank you!
So it sounds like you're done with the California Trimmer?
It’s looking more and more like it. As optimistic as I was to use it on this new lawn, it’s just not suitable for enjoyable reel mowing. Too many slopes and cumbersome to transport. I will use the earthwise 7 blade in spots tho. Thanks for watching.
I got a reel mower based on your advice, so far, so good. That being said... CAN I get some company to produce an affordable, WELL MADE, GOOD PERFORMING battery operated reel mower. The few ive found online do NOT have good reviews, and I don't have a thousand plus dollars for a gas reel mower. For now, it's the Earthwise seven blade mower.
I'm sure there are companies working on one. Especially with the rise in popularity of both reel mowing and battery equipment. Honestly though, the Earthwise 7 blade (if you have a small lawn) is the way to go in my opinion. Thanks for watching and commenting.
All those flower beds give me anxiety.
Haha. One day they’ll all be covered in ground covers and other evergreen shrubs and perennials. Aside for a little cleaning up in spring, maintenance will be very little. I plant stuff that doesn’t need much attention at all but still provides plenty of color. Thanks for watching man.
The half cut also helps with ruts.
🍺 I have green spots in my yard now.
Fungus? Nope it’s dog pee 😂❤
Indeed it does. I’ll also start on different sides and make sure I’m not following the exact same wheel marks every time.
Lol. Dog spots make a yard feel like home. Thanks bud. 👊🍻
New invention Goat mowers.😂
😂😂 The kids would love that. Thanks dude.
how do you keep your blade sharp. Do i go to tool store and take the blade? Or do I buy a new blade? Or do I sharpen it manually?
You can sharpen it yourself. I like to support a local hardware store down the street and take mine there. They have all the right equipment to put a really, really sharp edge on it for a minimal cost. Worth it for me. Thanks for watching. Hope this helps.
Hiya Travis!…Golf ball size hail last night brother!! 😳…we lucky 🍀 and safe…your project verifies you Lawncology 👑💪…☮️🏌️♂️
Whoa. That’s crazy. Hope ya came out unscathed. Thanks buddy. Appreciate ya watching as always! 👊👊
Nice
👍👍
What HOC do you maintain?
I like the 1-1.5 range. A little higher now since it’s a bumpy lawn. Thanks for watching.
👍
Appreciate ya.
We are starting to have 100+ temps and no rain. Do I need to mow a little higher?
The heat has arrived here too. I just bumped it up a notch on both pairs of wheels. Thanks for watching.
Yes
dude u could be a preacher lol just sayin
and i was just thinking about this how i never really sharpen my blades and i was looking at the grass blades yesterday and they are all frayed and look like they were ripped instead of cut definitely will have to try this out, sucks with a riding mower though to get blades off to sharpen them.
Haha, I get that a lot. Yeah, I bet it's a bit more of a chore with a riding mower. Hopefully it'll be worth is for ya if you get it done. Appreciate ya watching and commenting!
@@BudgetLawns2nd channel name or podcast, Sunday Lawn Sermon. 😀
😂😂👍👍
@@BudgetLawns Yessir definitely made a difference my blades were completely dull, probably getting close to time to replace but i was able to get the angle grinder out and put a good edge on them for now.
Nice. Thanks for the update.
I am waiting for the robo reel mower to come out 🤣🤣
Haha, wouldn't that be something!? Thanks for watching man.
@@BudgetLawns great tips as always Bud . I have used them myself when I used my rotary in the past 👊
👊 Now it confirms that I'm not crazy. 😂
@@BudgetLawns Haha or we both are lol
💯💯😂😂
Unlike a reel mower a rotary mower will get those ugly annoying seed heads. I look at my reel mower & shake my head in disappointment at the beginning of Spring.
Great point. Seems like everything, no matter how good, has a downside. Appreciate ya watching.
Now you want people to 4X their fuel and time budget by half the width cutting and then reverse double cut. 4x budget lawn 😂
Right on cue…
It’s called problem solving, Harp. It’s a solution until other measures can be taken to allow for a better method.
@@BudgetLawns more like a bandaid 🩹.
