- "It was like a family" Jim Richards
Legendary commentator John Smailes does a wonderful job bringing back the memories. Jim Richards, one of the big incentives why SUPER100MPH does this, such a privilege to know him. We were delighted to be part of the JPS Team BMW reunion held at the 2016 Muscle Car Masters Eastern Creek. Seeing Pip Barker all these years later still attending to the BMW 635 csi (now restored back in the old Group C specs) brought back some wonderful memories, thanks to Peter Sturgeon (and the Duchess) for making it possible. www.heritagetouringcars.com.au...
Also special to see Gloria Gardner, took me way back to those special days at back at Bathurst etc when it was a one big happy family... this video is also dedicated to the late Frank Gardner one of the great characters of Australian Motorsport History. more here czcams.com/video/_nxg9SNJfuEh/video.htmlttps://e...) enjoy.. I miss the racing of the 80's and early to mid 90's so tremendously at times it sometimes hurts to think of it.
I was only young but I remember walking through the pits at Bathurst in 1981 and went back every year till 1998.
Even the touring car rounds at circuits all around Australia were always fantastic to attend. And if not actually there then being glued to the television watching the racing with my father. Ahhh the memories!
It was such a different time and sadly motor racing of today just isn't comparable in the slightest.
Many thanks for continuing to post such amazing footage!
What an incredible video...Thank you so much !!!
Best looking touring car EVER...........
That's a fantastic Christmas present for me, thanks for making this video clip on the JPS reunion. I'm the number 1 JPS BMW fan, it changed my life.
Too right Robert, it changed my life too. I've been a BMW man ever since seeing that black beauty and I eventually got my dream car since I was a kid- BMW 635csi
John B congratulations on bringing the "dream" to life with getting a 6er, still the most elegant 2 door 4 seater ever made. In talking to the likes of Frank, Jim, Tony, Ludwig, Pip and the crew between 1984 to 1987, I learnt that truly "great sporting heros are also terrific human beings. It's a shame Tony couldn't make it to the Phillip Island or Motorsport Park events for JPS last year, but not to worry. Once again, many many thanks
Wasn't Jim Bromfield, an English-born engineer/mechanic, part of the JPS race preparation team back in the mid-'80s when they were running the 635s? I was wondering if anyone can remember and, if so, if anyone knows if he's still alive?
Thanks guys and I want to wish you a Merry Xmas and thanks for bringing us all these great videos
Thanks for creating this. Hugely interesting!
