- Today's episode shows all the steps to build a unique style pergola with roof. The original space on our second floor had no cover which I found out is a no-no here in the Philippines. Sun and rain are the biggest things to deal with for outdoor living. Join me in the process of righting a poor design with one that's both pleasing to the eyes and functional.

Finished product is beautiful. Great job!
Very nice James. Looks great. Job well done as usual.

It looks so cosy and it is beautiful, I bet you are going to enjoy and use it allot.
OUTSTANDING VIDEO!!!!
I used Simpson brackets on a pergola I built. The finished product looks very nice. 👍🏼
Wow outstanding work James my dad would be very impressed. I remember when you just got the cladding up when Airene and I were there last month.
Thanks Art!
Great job James, really looks nice!
Nicely done sir really good to see the approach you took!
Beautifully done James..... You know, I was starting to have second thoughts about where we bought land because I wont have an ocean view.. But the view from your newly upgraded sitting area is actually more beautiful and tropical looking that an ocean view. All we will need to do is grow the trees and landscaping and be patient while it grows tall enough to block out the view of the lots behind us. I love it...
James you make it look so Good !!!!!!!
Nice project. Love it 👍
That project looks Outstanding.
Another amazing project. You truly are a craftsman.
Beautiful job! Looks great from every angle, night and day.
This is yet another superb project, James!
The two seasons won't be an issue any longer!
James & Mel in Tacloban have done a great job with their house as well...
Looking forward to seeing more of you and Ness plus all the ideas you're giving us for our builds...
Take care you two...
🙏🙏🙏
👍😎👍
Good morning James, magandang umaga po, it has been a while❤
Great Pergola James, as always , your Love to the details is awesome. Have something similar in mind for our Lanay, once its done. Will have to check with you by then about the hardware ( Simpson) with you. See you soon again, cheers Alma & Andy. PS: whatsapped you the progress of our little nest in Tagatay
Hello James; once again a nice job done. best regards
Good to hear from you Herve. Stop by when you can!
@@MyPIDream I won't be in PH before next year but my wife will go by end of August /September for some paper work so she will try to come to say hello to you, thanks for the invitation
Looks fantastic James!
Beautiful, came out so nice.
We enjoy each of your projects. It is refreshing to see the beauty of Villa Feliz!
Awesome job, I don’t believe project like this can’t be done by one person. Kudos to you if you do. I was scared for you when step on top of roof. Can’t wait for the wiring video
I had help lifting the beams up on the second floor but all the other posts and rafters I was able to move up there by myself with a ladder on the lower roof awning. Other than that I did all this project by myself.
@@MyPIDream wow and wow. I do like it when you do things in details and learn from it. I can watch this over and over again. Thank you.
Great project James!
Well done, looks amazing
awesome project
Without a doubt James you are a master craftsman. Your energy and enthusiasm are very encouraging to me. Marylou and I will definitely be picking your brain before we begin any major projects at The Plantation 😊
Thanks for all the details that you provide throughout all of your projects.
Missed you this time around Dave. Looking forward to spending some fun time next you are here! Your asawa always puts a smile on our faces!
Hi James once again you never disappoint !! Bravo absolutely beautiful work. I can’t wait to get back to review this project with you and Ness ❤️❤️🇵🇭🇵🇭Thanks for sharing this James !!
Wow! Fantastic! What a master builder. You are my mentor.
❤ Love it and enjoy it👍🙂
I love the view from your deck so beautiful green
Impressive work!
Wow! Another great job🎉 🎉🎉
Nice.🎉
That looks sharp James.
Spectacular
Great job
Awesome.
Great job love it
Another finely crafted DIY project. I went to Charito there in Tagaytay for a breakfast ride. Nice restaurant.
Really like the wood color, from the staining. So rich looking. Your good health has allowed you to do some really nice projects.
I thank a peaceful and fulfilling lifestyle here in the Philippines to my health. Thanks for the kind words.
thats a really nice DIY project, gives me an idea... but you should wear rubber gloves when applying solignum manually
Totally agree. I got a bit sloppy with my PPE.
Recommend LED light strip for mood lighting along the top-inside of your structure. 😊
Btw. That looks incredible.
Great idea!
James the retractable screen will be good with that from fenestram.
By the way I did get my screen door from them and I love them all the way here in Clark Pampanga.
Congrats Vivian. It's really made a difference with air flow now that we can open the doors with confidence no flys or mosquitoes will enter.
Magandang umaga James and Ness😊😊
⭐️
It's all look'in GOOD! Thanks James!
Youre a stud. Carry those beams up there yourself? How many days you have in that? Takes me all day to do minor things. Did you consider wrought iron before the wood rails? Beautiful work and wood.
Stud? Was that a wood pun? 🤣
This was actually a several month project due to logistics of materials.
I did have help with lifting the beams but all the other materials and labor was by myself.
@@MyPIDream It wood be if intended(that’s a pun). Not too many HO’s do their own work or home maintenance anymore. After a long career as lineman, Wichita type Glen Campbell sang about, might be song you’d like to sing, I still do every bit I can around the home and yard. Taking on tasks beyond my pay grade and occupational training. Takes a day or so to recover.
I remember when you were having Villa Felix built you mentioned you need to watch the workers like a hawk to get things right. Sometimes better we do it ourselves and get it right even though the body pays for it and we take a little longer. Property and area looks beautiful. You have a coffee maker or water cooler nearby to make that patio a little more enjoyable while enjoying the view right?
Very nice job James, congratulations! Thanks a lot for this very interesting and informative video. What is the approximate cost of this updates on your house? Salamat po!
I used mostly wood donated from some of my neighbors donating the wood so I saved quite a bit. With that in mind I probably built this project for under USD$2,000.
Looks fantastic, how's your solar holding up, any issues at all.
I can't express how happy I am with our solar especially after we changed out the batteries to the Dyness 200Ah batteries.
@@MyPIDream thanks for the reply. I'm building soon and I will be installing solar as well.
Hello James, you excel at carpentry. Question where and how do you get your Simpson Hardware. Also if you can list the products used to preserve wood from termites and weather I would appreciate it. Our Vacation home is in North Luzon, Pangasinan and typically I stay away from wood but the boss, aka wife wants a Cabana and wants to add Filipino authenticity to the look.
Thanks, Salamat
All the Simpson StrongTie hardware I used was purchased on Amazon.com.
The Solignum All Around Clear for termites on Lazada.
Thank you James for the info
Where do you get the painters tape? also are you using a step down transformer for your tools? THANK YOU!
S&R
May I know where you purchased the brackets from?
Amazon.com (Simpson Strong-Tie)
Hello po, magandang Umaga? Is there flooded area in tierra Maria Because we're planning to buy property there. Thanks
There is no flooding area in TME. Welcome to the neighborhood!
Excellently wonderful result!
can we know how much the whole cost of the project?
Real beauty you have there.
I sent this video to my hubby, giving hints for future projects when we retire later this year 😉😉😉
