Nerf Ultra compatible "Ultima" darts assembly

PLEASE NOTE! In this video I am using Vytaflex 40 and 5/8 felt, however soon I will be Vytaflex 60 and 1/2 felt to increase performance.
This is how I make my Nerf Ultra-compatible (after disabling the dart detector) darts known as Ultimas.

What size foam are you using and where do you purchase it?

It’s 5/8 foam backer rod. It can be found at most hardware stores, this came from Ace.

How rigid are the heads.?.

They are a rather soft rubber. Think in between rubber band and pencil eraser.

They are a touch over 2.5 inches long, just like Ultras without the tail nub. I’m not sure what you mean by easier.... you could always cut a bunch of whistler heads and use those.

Nice work! How about just glueing a waffle head to the backer rod? Might not be the best balance though.

Waffle heads have a significantly smaller outer diameter (about 1/2) than the foam. It might work, but it won’t work well if it does.
