In my opinion Tanjiro Zenitsu and inosuke already earned the title of hashira not only were they called the Tsugoku of both Rengoku and Tengen they were the first demon slayer in hundreds of years to kill an upper moon.

Kanao is one of the most intriguing characters to me because she's literally like 1 of I think 5 slayers who became slayers WITHOUT demons being a pretext. Most of the slayers had a demon kill the rest of their family which resulted in them becoming slayers. The other 4 that don't fall into this category are Zenitsu(Debt), Mitsuri(Marriage), Rengoku(Family Business), and Uzui(Ninja Clan Fallout) Tengen being the most tragic story of those 4. Kanao though? Based on her backstory: Neglected, Starved, Beaten, and sold / abandoned: it's a coin toss if she would have became a Demon or a Demon Slayer. If the slave trader ran into Muzan at night instead of the Kocho's during the day, I truly believe she'd be another Daki but much more skilled as an individual with her tragic past being shown to us as she dies by Tanjiro's hand. It's amazing how she turned out after swapping a human conscience for a robot one until Tanjiro literally did a coin toss. The most tragic stories truly do lead to the most kind and humble people.
@@omkarkatore Right --- Kanae's and Shinobu's origin was their parents were killed by a demon and they were almost killed themselves but rescued by Gyomei. So they trained to become slayers like most of the other characters we meet. Extreme props to Gyomei for saving and training 3 Hashira level slayers (Kanae, Shinobu, and Genya) as well as being arguably the strongest current Hashira himself.
@@omkarkatore Ohhhh wait --- I think I see what you're saying. The two people who saved her --- Only happened to save her --- Because they were slayers based on the fact their family was killed. Had their family not died, they wouldn't have been around to save her from being sold to someone else so in a way, she became a slayer because of demons. I see what you're saying. That's a cause and effect way of looking at it which is accurate, but just from her perspective she was saved by strangers who happened to turn her into a slayer. Looking at it that way you could probably trace the other 4 back the same way as the Ninja Clan got wiped out --- Likely by demons because Tengen didn't kill his last brother himself. Rengoku business had to start somewhere back with Yoriichi. We don't know Jigoro's story but it likely revolves around demons. Then Mitsuri is linked through the Ubuyashiki whose tied to Muzan and Kyojuro who falls under the Rengoku category above.

The requirements for becoming hashira is either to kill 50 demons(iirc) or to kill one of the 12 kizukis. Tanjiro technically didn't kill Rui. He got close, but tehcnically Giyu actually did it. However, what has to be said is that Tanjiro is the one alongside Zenitsu that kill upper moon 6. Even though Tengen did a lot of the work, Tanjiro and Zenitsu chopped off the heads and also helped a lot in the fight. This means, similar to how Rengoku and Kanroji becames Hashiras, by the end of season 2, both Tanjiro and Zenitsu qualify. They just haven't done anything about it.

@@dioisabot4276 that's correct, this means by the end of the first arc of season 2, Tanjiro qualifies, but zenitsu still qualify after Gyutaro and Daki fight.
Inosuke cut Daki’s head off with Zenitsu and was right there with Tanjiro in the battle against Enmu, technically all 3 of them should be officially recognized as Hashiras now
Inosuke definitely is too, he and Zenitsu beheaded at the same time, Tanjiro and Iniosuke also killed LM1.
Thing is they count assist as kills. So it doesn't make sense that they aren't hashira.

Demon Slayer takes place in the Taisho-era, which is about 40ish years after the end of the shogunate. The Shinsengumi was long disbanded at that point.

The reason those that had the mark didn't live long is because they are potential sun breathing users, Muzan sends demons to hunt them before they become a problem.
tanjiro lived past 25 because we was born with his mark, his mark just got developted over time, but he was born with it

Personally, I believe the breathing styles should be passed down history still in the series (besides Hinokami kagura, which is still passed down in the final chapter) but it would be cool to see like certain family’s using their great great grandfathers breath styles.

Tanjiro says that the water style isn't suited for his body, while water breathing is the most flexible of all the forms, it's the form that's easiest to change into a new form, which is why hes able to switch to sun breathing. but Tanjiro only really used water breathing for recovery and defense. not sure if youre a manga or anime only so i wont say more than that.
@@velogang9640 got ya I’m a manga reader but it’s been so long I dont remember him saying that but it does make sense I figured that Sun breathing would be a breathing technique he uses when he gets serious so I assumed he would just be a water pillar for a name title but I appreciate ya letting me know he doesn’t prefer to use water so Sun pillar makes more sense considering everything plus his family’s lineage
Well Sun breathing is a collection of all breathing styles so he's also a water hashira
@@brandophiri3618 not necessarily true, sun breathing is the first breathing style, all other styles are modified versions of it. When yirochi tried to teach other demon slayers how to use sun breathing pretty much none of them could, so he modified them to fit the user, which is where stone, flame, water, thunder and wind breathing came from, all the other breathing styles branch off of those.

Little bit of a plot hole to me that it was Tanjiro that dealt the finishing blow to Lower Moon 1’s head, technically being the one to kill a Twelve Kizuki, before Rengoku died, which would have left a spot for Tanjiro to join.
Just a little bit of a rant, idk how it necessarily works, but if only 9 Hashira could exist at a time, and Rengoku died with Tanjiro killing Lower Moon 1, just seems like a promotion to me

At that time Tanjiro was a water breath user, and obviously there was currently a water breathing Hashira, that being Giyu. So he had the talent, but there wasn't an opening as I don't believe there is more than one Hashira of the same breath style.
Also, on multiple occasions, tonjiro has stated that he himself does not think he is strong enough to be a hotshot, even after he took out guyataro and daki he does not feel like he is strong enough to do it by himself because it took him inosuke zenistu and tegen to beat them, and he couldn’t do it by himself
oh no there were sooo many points in time that the main trio should’ve become hashira because they killed one of the 12 moons but turns out the terms of becoming hashira are as follows;
1. kill either 50 demons OR 1 of the twelve moons
2. be of at least kinoe rank (the one right below hashira)
so basically tanjiro didn’t become a hashira because his rank was too low at the time

It was said already that the breathing styles water/flame/wind/stone/thunder were deprived from sun breathing but other styles were deprived from water/stone/flame/wind/thunder.. like how love breathing is deprived from flame breathing

Well tengen didnt learn thunder breathing yet he has sound breathing..
Tanjiro said something when he was fighting upper 6 to the effect that he didnt suit the water breathing style because he couldnt move his body the way he wanted too and that the hinokami kagura was much suited to it..
So in my interruption of this is that the user has to have a affinity to the breathing style.. if my theory is correct that why you dont see everyone using sun breathing at its purest form
So with everyone being different yoriichi in his era noticed this and changed the breathing styles based on the individuals..
I believe it because this manga was about to get a cut-off to end the story before it earned popular due to the anime show.
If the publisher knows the series will get this explosive population, the story will be extend to this day and we will see Kampachiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke became Hashira's.

Anyone that wants to downplay Zenitsu’s ability to kill Kaigaku only because Kaigaku just recently transformed into a demon and hadn’t mastered his demon form yet… Kaigaku was still a fucking Upper Moon demon.
Ok, no hate, but the upper moon thunder breathing was fighting, wasn't really a upper moon, he was just a replacement, but it still makes him a. High rank because he was able to solo him, but just one breathing style and one move, so he's kill the LM1 because the demon that uses dark thunder, the one that the thunder breathing user fights is not really the strength to become a upper 6th, so he was a LM1
i think he was stronger than daki.....and regardless people got to remember zenitsu did that without a demon slayer mark or see through world access

That's the part, but we never saw the full power of thunder breathing, but we do know it's faster than sound breathing, judging by how fast he was able to cut the Moon's head off almost
