Stop with penalty excuses. It’s playoff hockey. They’re only going to call blatant penalties. Which we had. Need to play better or we are going home.
No doubt.
Always appreciate a fan that can speak the truth without making excuses. Go Avs, but respect.
100% outplayed by the Avs. This was not decided by the refs. They just were better.
We said that repeatedly.
TIME TO PUT LB IN. HE HAS WON THE CUP LAST YEAR. 37 IS STRUGGLING AT TIMES. LB WILL CALM THINGS DOWN
Great recap guys… I’m just sorry I didn’t catch this edition earlier in the day as it certainly provides some interesting insights into Game 3. It’s always tough in the second half of the game for a sea-level team playing in Denver. Well done WST
Thanks Bobby, glad you enjoyed. Posted this one very late.
Jets can’t play a solid 60 min game. Avs are well over 30% on the PP. jets gotta stay out of the penalty box.
Yup
Avalanche fan here. Not a good look for your entire pod being complaining about the officiating.
While complaints were made. It wasn’t the entire thing. We fully acknowledged the Avs were the better team.
The penalty talk is relevant Jets 2nd goal was directly off a holding the stick. It's a two way street.
So im biased as an Avs fan, but the ref excuses are a bit much. A lot of missed calls both ways in each of these games. Playing in Denver at the mile high arena, players aren't used to it unless you are an Av. A lot of those penalties could be sucking wind in the third, it happens to almost every team. Compare the first and third, the Jets were the better team in the first arguably, I almost turned off the game after the second goal when the Jets took the lead in the second period. It felt like they were just the better team. The legs were just gone then.
Thanks for your well reasoned comment. We definitely acknowledged that the Avs were the better team. Was maybe a bit too frustrated late into the night and let it get the best of me.
@SportsTalkWPG oh no hate meant. I love watching other teams channels (except Boston but I think most people agree on that). I genuinely thought Jets were better for the first half of this game, all of game one and half of game 2. I picked Avs in 6 but if it goes to 7 Jets all the way. If the Avs can't win the cup this year I'm rooting for your guys because A, Canada needs a cup. B, Hellebyuck (sorry I butchered the spelling I'm sure) deserves to raise it
The Jets took several penalties in the first and second period that weren’t called. It goes both ways. I’m glad they’re letting them play and not turning this into the special teams series.
Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Dude our second goal was an easy holding the stick penalty that was missed on the Colorado player. There was missed calls on both sides. Goaltending needs to be better. Bucky is just not a playoff goalie
Last year in the Playoffs the AVS went out in the first round because only the 1st line was scoring. Now it's flipped. 17 goals in the first 3 games and the top line only has 4 of those goals. 2nd and 3rd lines are beating the Jets. Georgi only has to make a couple of saves and there is the game.
Yup the Avs depth scoring is doing a lot of damage. Thanks for the comment.
Zack Rejuvenated Parise is a prime example.
That's optimistic. Jets are being outplayed throughout the lineup. Georgiev is the better goalie through 3 games. The Jets can't put together one full game of play and collapse late. They are streaky at best. Avs are dominating the series. Looking at the statistics, you'd think they were up 3-0 in the series.
Game 4 were really going to find out what the Jets are made of.
*Game 4

Good luck trying to get Winnipeggers to buy season tickets if this team’s M.O. is “we’re a great regular season team that’s exciting to watch, but when it came to the playoffs, our world class goalie Connor Hellebuyck couldn’t get the job done repeatedly”.
Thanks for staying up late and giving the low down on a game that was too late to watch to the end if you had a 5AM wake up call. Lots of runway for Jets to get back in this, but the takeover by the Avs does feel like a “step on their throat “ statement by the Avs. Still believing but the time is nigh boys!!!
Definitely not over. Maybe got carried away a bit on this one. Big statement by the Avs they looked strong for a majority of the game.
Tough loss - was looking good after 2! That Avs PP is lethal
100% their top guys looked deadly all night
They weren't calling both ways, on your 1 pp goal there was a clear holding the stick 10 seconds before the goal causing the forward to be out of position in the shot...
Toffolli held Lehkonens stick for a good 5 Mississippi count right in front of the official with no call that allowed WPG to score the PP goal
Its not over yet.
Big game tomorrow now though.
Win and we are tied and will have home ice advantage in the final 3 games.
Lose and we have to win all of the remaining games.
💯
Jets embarrassing the AV’s 7-0 in Denver had to be avenged!
what happened in that game!?!
@@SportsTalkWPG As an Avs fan, that game was a low point for me. What happened? Everything went wrong. I couldn't see the Avs beating Winnipeg in a series. Things have changed but, yeah, they could easily change back again.
Nothing has really changed…jets still need to win 1 of these 2 in Colorado…just now it’s Sundays game and mission accomplished.
Definitely
Any updates on Dillon's health?
Here from Mike McIntyre twitter.com/mikemcintyrewpg/status/1784314730846322997?s=46&t=wFcYKpy5071gJvetW_p2JA
As an Avs fan I am completely biased, but that being said I see the main issues for the Jets (so far) as being 1. their 1C cannot be outplayed by the Avs 2C as consistently as he has been, 2. the Lowry line "shutting down" MacK cannot be him getting 2 points a game, & 3. the Avs scoring from their blueline is unlike any other team & the Jets cannot match that without Bucky playing a hell of a lot better.
I think these comments are totally fair. Thanks for sharing.
@@SportsTalkWPG Still a lot of series left & it will be a dogfight regardless I think. Always great to see the other side of these series.
Now that Helly absolutely knows this team always folds come playoff time I can't imagine him putting up with it for more than one more season. On top of that, there is no way Brossoit is our back up next year. This team without their goal tending would be lucky to get 80 points in a season!!
Helle just signed a seven year deal that kicks in next year, he'll be here for a while. Brossoit will move on next year. The Jets in the regular season played much better hockey than this but yes they were boosted a bit by goaltending.
Brenden Dillon was acting a fool when the game was over, and he got hurt. It's sad that any player gets hurt, but it was totally unnecessary for him to create all that chaos.
And you two spent the entire video complaining about the refs, then said you didn't want to blame the officiating.
Fellas, you guys should be Leafs fans with that sort of analysis.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Could have edited some of that out. I think we made it clear that we thought the Jets weren’t good enough to win when faced with adversity in the third period.
Unfortunately I took more time than necessary to express some frustration after the game.
Dillon was being attacked by 2 players. He was in a headlock while hand was cut wide open and the player wouldn't let him go.
The jets are not getting in on the forcheck enough. It’s tough when you have 3 plodders monny toff and vilardi struggle with the speed. Ehlers has been totally invisible. The pk (whether you like the calls or not) is way way way too passive and is absolutely killing them. If your motto all year was to be aggressive at both ends of the ice then you better do it. All this talk about this team being different and how close they are had to be proven otherwise it’s just cheap talk. It’s time for the stars to rise to the occasion or changes have to be made in the offseason
Thanks for weighing in. Definitely doesn’t look like the Jets team we saw in the regular season.
This looks like a team that know deep playoff hockey and a team that is learning playoff hockey
Certainly a fair comment. The Avs have found another gear and the Jets are just trying to find their game.
Lmao at the Bloodline reference
thanks, tried to squeeze it in there. not sure if it worked but glad you were able to enjoy.
"If the Jets are gonna lose, let them lose in a fair fashion". Good Lord. Seriously? The Jets are getting the exact games and the exact matchups they wanted and are getting outplayed by a deeper, faster team . Capt. Vezina is getting outplayed by AG. The Jets system is designed to allow Hellebuyck to stop pucks for 60 minutes. He's supposed to be the X factor, right? And he's not good enough. I hope Dillon is OK, but his injury was 100% avoidable. That's on him for thinking it's 1975 and "messages" need to be sent after getting your ass kicked.
Good pod. Just enough with the penalty talk - you sound like Oiler fans . . .
Hey I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. I fully acknowledge that I got a bit carried away with my frustration during the recording, parts of it were not up to the standard I have set for myself since the beginning of Winnipeg Sports Talk. The Avalanche were clearly the better team for 60 minutes and deserved to win. -MR
Jets don’t want it bad enough!!! There not playing there style they are known for !!
Definitely haven’t seen enough of that style yet in the playoffs.
Av’s fan but no hate for the Jets. Thought when Georgiev let that muffin in, that this was headed to a dark place for us.
I think many Jets fans did too.
What muffin?
@@kalebmcdaniel9147 Toffoli’s weak backhand shot from the goal line.
Agreed I was extremely worried!
@@michaelgallegos2217
Best thing about the game for the Avs was Georgiev showing completely different reaction to that goal than his body language indicated in Game 1 and the last messes in the regular season.
Jets didn’t play completely horrible till the 3rd. Then the rails came off the train. Can’t keep giving them 40 shots a night. Jets need to grind the front of the net, and get some “garbage” goals.
It was pretty tight for two periods. Jets having trouble getting to the key scoring areas. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Trust me we're nervous for Sundays game here because our avalanche typically SUCK at day games for sure!
I think the Jets 7-0 win was an afternoon game wasn’t it 😉. Thanks for the comment. Good luck tomorrow.
Oh my remo your eyes tell me your tired
Lol I was way too tired. Probably why I didn’t edit it after.
I agree the Avs were better than the Jets. Jets did not deserve much better fate in the game. Penalties are not solely responsible for their effort, but they can cause momentum swings and can be demoralizing when the calls are inconsistent. Jets lost their composure, that cannot happen if they want to get back on track! GO JETS GO!!
Thanks Matt for weighing in
Sounds easy, but we really need to win the next game get this series rocking again. People are really down right now.
One game at a time.
Going into this weekend, I thought if we win 1 of the 2 road games, we will have done well. Puts all the pressure on tomorrow now.
The “Whiteouts” haven’t helped the Jets at all.
@@WW3_Soon Nobody said the whiteout helps the Jets win. It’s a tradition. It’s a home game. That’s what it is.
Knew they had given up on the game when Kyle conner was on the penalty kill
I’ve never seen a penalty called after the play was whistled down and it wasn’t called in the moment.
A rare occurrence.
Shouldn’t have been missed to begin with
They have called that MULTIPLE TIMES THIS SEASON. Refs would make a call they didnt see and go back to watch the replay to see if it warrants a 5 minute major.
Refs can talk to the linesman to see if they saw something, which was the case here. It happens, you just don't watch enough hockey.
Boness being out coached
Refs miss calls on both sides. Y'all need to stop whining.
I’ll get it together for the next one.
Play LB.
Hellebucyk lets in 17goals in 3 games and its the Jets fault as a team. If Samsonov lets in one bad goal, then everything is his fault..the difference in the coverage is hilarious...its a funny little hockey world...something wrong if you are talking about the"bad side of Georgiev" in a game he won 6-2 and"Hellebucyk standing on his head"??? Yeah - he stood on his head except for the 5 goals this game, the 5 the game before, and the 6 before that..aside from that - he has been PERFECT... stood on his head every moment aside from those 17 goals..Sweet Jesus..this is the most overrated player in the NHL.
It took an avalanche of 3rd period Jet penalties for Colorado to beat Winnipeg.
that's good, thanks for the comment.
BELIEVE
only down 2-1! just need to win one and the series is tied.
Poink gonna cost yall the series 😂😂
Dillion wouldn’t have gotten hurt had he just skated to the locker after the game was over. He decided to act tough after the game was decided and try to be a thug. Act like a 💩🤡, deal with the consequences 🤷🏻♂️
💩 🤡 - nice one.
40 minutes of blaming the refs…I think listening to this made me more sick than I already am. So many missed calls yet you dont mention the blatant holding the stick that directly led to the jets PP goal. Lehkonen getting his stick broke on the pp from a slash or getting regularly mugged while he’s in front of the net. They missed calls both ways so don’t pretend otherwise. If not for Georgiev playing historically bad the Jets are down 3-0. As for Schiefele playing well, he’s been crushed in every matchup he’s had this series. Have fun with him as your 1C for the entirety of that contract.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. It wasn't the entire 40 minutes but was it too much, yes it was. We acknowledged repeatedly that the Avalanche have been the better team. Good luck in Game 4.
Were those not penalties? Looking like an amateur podcast
They definitely were, that was stated. I would agree parts of this were not up to the standard that we have set for three years here at Winnipeg Sports Talk. We'll come back stronger next game.
Whole lot of crying about the refs in this 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 play better and you’ll win??
Ya we said that
Good lord, finally made it to the end of the vid, and Michael.. you are the biggest cry baby I’ve ever heard. The reffing of this game is all you can talk about?? Look at the analytics, your jets are getting dominated. Maybe clean some of that up and theyll have a better performance. Calls don’t always go your way, that’s sports. As someone tuning in who doesn’t normally listen, just some feedback to keep the crying about the refs down.
@@joshuau2395Sick comment, Josh.
@@Waders27 Sick comment, Waders.
Let’s be real. The league/refs called this game. The calls are super tilted towards the avs and that’s there real advantage on us. If they called a proper game this game goes either way. I don’t think any real jets fans are mad about our calls. It’s how biased they have been towards the avs which is giving them momentum and free goals
Nailed it.
@@SportsTalkWPG I think it’s understated how bad these calls ruin the integrity of the game. Everyone saying that we haven’t outplayed them in any game. Well pps give momentum and who’s to say how confident and how much more on their heels the avs are if they aren’t getting non stop pressure and call dominance. I’m just hoping that we get proper officiating for game 4 or I’m not even watching
Like the avs are playing super confident. They know they can play dirty and not get calls. They know they can score on the pp and they know they will get more chances than the jets in any game. Of course they are dominating. It’s a cheat code
Who whines about refs?
Losers.
Team speed creates penalties, and the Avs have a pretty big advantage there.
Bettman called down between 2-3 said ok. That's enough. Make some calls and non calls Gary galley is in Bettmans pocket as well listen to him He's selling it for Gary
Yeah I’m sure this is how it went down 😂
You sound a little salty😂
Please come back to reality sir.
Did you guys want to whine some more??? Pathetic
Was expecting that. Fair.
