      @zakzak6780 Both of those. They also have a habit of over-estimating wait times.
      However, the important thing is that they are legitimately overcrowded most of the time. Some of that overcrowding, like for the Magic Kingdom fireworks, isn't possible to alleviate via park expansion even if they did it. A 5th park would spread people out better. It would also help if Animal Kingdom was made an all-day park, as it would keep people from flooding out of there into the other 3 in the evening.
      Parking lots mean nothing and in my experience, don't correlate well to the number of people in the parks on a given day. A majority of Disney guests are staying at Disney hotels/timeshares or being bused in on charter buses.
      Does anyone really care about the water parks? Disney definitely doesn't seem to. I considered adding them to my annual pass, but decided it wasn't worth it with them only having one open (if that) at any given time now.

  • @jasodan72

    • @EpicLemonMusic
      @EpicLemonMusic Před měsícem +7

      It is easier to build a 5th park than to maintain current parks, it just simply is. It is easier to hire, it is easier to build, it is easier to do NEW. In fact look at Universal Studios, that park is rough.... same with the old parts of Islands, much smarter to be all new.

    • @therealventures
      @therealventures Před měsícem +6

      @EpicLemonMusic if you have money, then it's easier. But maintenance is cheaper than building an entire new park. Disney is lacking maintenance with their parks, and its hard to imagine they could build a brand new park and not give love to their other 4. Specifically Disneyworld. Disneyland, I think has their sh*t together.

    2:03 Simplest answer - they weren’t. That much debt means you need to start planning well in advance of the deadline to figure out who assumes the debt burden (likely assumed by the state b/c Reedy Creek is/was a state-created municipal district), and by October 2022, no planning had taken place yet. That kind of debt transference takes years a best, so I never believed DeSantis was gonna follow through on killing Reedy Creek. I think he was hoping by spring 2023 someone would’ve blinked.

      It appears Disney got what it wanted - a government it can work with instead of a government out to get them. As you may recall (and was left out of the summary) was that DeSantis and the new board wanted more than just regulating roads and sewers around Disney - they wanted to affect the content of Disney media, claiming Disney was too woke.
      The lawsuits worked. DeSantis no longer speaks out against Disney (damaging their reputation), and the new board agrees to work with Disney instead of punishing them.
      Disney, in return, gives up a contract that, to them, was only necessary when working with a advisory. With the adversarial nature of the relationship gone, the contract isn’t needed.

      It's hard to grow your economy when the state government makes a sport out of bashing economic engines like Disney. Disney itself needs to find a more regulation friendly southern state or territory to relocate to. Lower taxes (they and their customers pay $6,600,000,000.00 per year) and fewer government regulations. The government shouldn't be allowed to punish anyone including companies for their speech. If Disney caves to this socialism, just imagine the type of pressure you or I would be under if we crossed the wrong corrupt politician.

    The video mentioned how Disney "could possibly" go after the board members personally. This was just allowing them to try to not saying how successful they would've been. However, it didn't go into detail one of the big reasons Disney signed this was due to that audit which had disastrous findings for Disney. It was mentioned briefly, but it's huge if true. The new settlement may not allow for Disney to be sued criminally for things found in the audit. For you that have read the audit, you know it's really bad some of the things that have happened behind close doors.
    Knowing that the state won't come after them criminally is huge for Disney as more and more of these problems with the audit come out. That being said the audit may bring some civil suits (from residents and others) as well as SEC violations against the company itself. However, at least criminal charges won't be brought. That's big for Disney as those could've been bad personally and for the business brand.

    Hey Brandon, There are over 1,900 special districts in FL, which I understand operate similar to how RCID operated. It sounds like you’re biased against the previous structure under Disney & RCID. I’m sincerely interested in why it was a good thing (seemingly in your opinion) for the Gov. to treat Disney & RCID differently from the other special districts.

      Yeah, also he didn’t understand the settlement and the reason for the state settlement not to include federal actions. Disney got everything they wanted in this deal. The federal action is still an option and that is pivotal because Disney added people individually to the complaints. That means if the fed suit is successful( and it will be) they can be sued civilly.

      Disney shouldn't have made such a political stance in the first place, but DeSantis' reaction is a gross mis-use of power. There has to be more checks and balances to prevent a rogue governor from changing the laws until he gets everything he wants. Especially when he seems to be doing it to boost his political stature ahead of running for president. Shameful. He lost the respect of moderates on both sides of the line.

    Brayden, Is the CFTOD’s board make up the same as the new Universal district? The number of governor appointed and Universal appointed the same as CFTOD’s governor appointed and Disney appointed.
    I realize the RCD was approved before the current Florida constitution took effect and ran against the current FL constitution. However, all districts should be developed equally.

    • @mahall85
      @mahall85 Před měsícem +4

      The makeup of the board matters less than the power granted to the district itself. That is why RCID needed to change, and even now, I don’t think the CFTOD and the Universal district are exactly the same thing.

    • @gtr82
      @gtr82 Před měsícem +1

      @@mahall85You are correct, they are not the same anymore as Disney's is now more strict and has less power than Universal because the governor controls the Disney district with his appointments at anytime on a whim, unlike Universal. Universal's new district is exactly how Disney's Reedy was with Universal employees exclusively making up the board of supervisors. Disney no longer has that. Shingle Creek, Universal's district, also is a taxing district that will set bonds, just like Reedy was. Shingle Creek already has plans for $170M in bonds for infrastructure that is similar to what Disney constructed around its theme parks with Reedy. So in essence, Universal has what Disney used to have. You spoke of the power that the district has, Universal has that power now. Its own employees controlling the board and Disney has a generally hostile governor-appointed board.

    • @mahall85
      @mahall85 Před měsícem +1

      @@gtr82 “Essentially,” LOL. You’re failing to mention that the Universal district was formed under current Florida law, while Reedy Creek was formed in the late 1960s under VERY different circumstances. It doesn’t matter if the Universal district is helmed by the board of directors of Comcast itself, they don’t have the same power that Reedy Creek had, nor would the State of Florida legislature ever grant that kind of power again. It’s apples to oranges, beyond the surface level observation that both are “special districts.”

    • @mahall85
      @mahall85 Před měsícem

      @@jason_kucera What do you mean? What many fail (and continue to fail) to realize is that Disney was never supposed to be “in charge” of Reedy Creek, and that RCID was formed to create the city of Epcot outside of Disney’s direct control (because private corporations don’t also run governments in America). The “gain” would be that Disney committed potential fraud by applying for bonds (public money) to build things not designed for public use (theme parks, instead of public infrastructure related to a functioning city). That is illegal, so the “gain” would be self-evident.
