Hi! My name is Christopher Odd and I’ve been playing video games on the internet for a few years. I really enjoy a variety of games but generally lean towards games with a unique and engaging story (Bioshock, The Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077, The Last of Us etc), strategy/roguelike games (XCOM 2 War of the Chosen, Darkest Dungeon, etc), and RPGs (Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Dragon Age, etc). If not the constant Arctic freezing temperatures and risk of suffering from frostbite everytime you wake up, I would definitely live in Frost punk city. I kind of do it currently, but not close to it. I am used to like occasional -18/20 Celcius or -0,4/4 Fahrenheit. However it is usually -12/15 Celcius and 10,4/5 Fahrenheit during winter

Love to see you play games like these. If you need another city-builder survival game to hold you over until July, can't recommend IXION enough. Similar vibes to Frostpunk on space station. Can't wait to see more!

Saw this and was like wtf it's still NOT available in my Library, After 20 mins of looking and reading other post's I was able to figure it out, ALL I had to do was sign out of steam and exit it, then restart steam and sign in for the FP2 download Banner to appear in my downloads list

Agreed! Hope the decicion making, factions, communities will go alot broader and deeper. In real life... well we got 80+ types of rule types/ ideologies/ socio economic systems etc. Basic, fitting ones? Well an example. Representative Democracy / liberal-conservative/ syndicalist. Just an example! Love if we could choose any colors from a color wheel for buildings/ faction+community members clothing/ interface in general😉

Heat stamps are a fascinating idea...and it makes sense, honestly.
In a world where the only real resource you have to work with is heat, why not make your money based around it?

I adored the first Frost Punk.
FP2 looks absolutely GORGEOUS and the new systems thus far seem really great - I hope we can have cities with more than "2" factions though...

Yeah, the factions form offshoots of each other. And from what I see they hold a bit more of value of the extreme over the people the base themself off.

I just hope the one thing this game gets is replayability value. Once you had a proper build order, replay value dropped off a cliff in the first game including DLCs.

Loved the first Frostpunk game. Looking forward to the sequel. One thing I would like all the games to do better is - when it says something increases slightly or significantly, it feels ambiguous. If it would display numerically like in terms of percentages or something then that helps to make a better and informed decision.
It's done on purpose. It's supposed to be a real life simulation. You will never now 'exactly' what an effect of a passed low or decision will be in real life as well, you only get an approximation based on polls or whatever. Therefore game will never tell you "34 people will get sick because of this", that would be nonsense.

The legislature mechanics are pretty neat, and seem to reflect my understanding of deal brokering and coalition building that one would see in the real world, or at least commonly.

This game is traumatic and yet so good to play.
Seems like with the 51/49 split the cheap tactic to maximize support would be to pass the forager-supported laws that you like while showering machinists with promises and funding their projects to maintain their happiness.
maybe,but in the full game it probably introduces more factions over time, I don't think the devs intend for a player to be able to keep everything balanced

I just loved the first game and all of its DLCs. I even bought the board game and that is arguably even better than the computer game. I was super excited when Frostpunk 2 was announced. But I must say after having watched this I feel a bit dead inside. It's quite the departure from the first game. It doesn't feel very steampunky anymore. The UI is all white and futuristic and the buildings feel a lot more modern. Thank you for demoing this. I think I'll stick to the original game.

In the first one, child shelters (instead of labor) gave you the option that the children later on help at research. This research speed can not be accomplished when you choose child labor!

Man i totally disagree about the Child Labour stuff. At least for the Scenarios I played you will have more than enough workers, and the speed bonus for Medical facilities or Workshops was a tremendous boon. Edit: Would love to see more of this.
Sure and that’s fair but generally from most things I’ve seen majority go the other route. Depends on difficulty and a few other factors I suppose.

The ability to negotiate a faction into voting against the law proposed is interesting, I wonder how that'll be used.

Ah man, this video killed all my hype towards this game. I wanted more of the intimate strategy and relationship to the community both graphically and gameplay-wise. I hate this kind of strategy games where everything is abstracted from the view and graphics are nothing more than nice looking excel-cells. The magically appearing excavating machines to clear out the ice and the magical lights depicting the traffic instead of real people are the epitome of all I dislike in strategy games. Damn, I'm disappointed.
But other than that, this was a good video. It showed very well what to expect from this game. Enjoyed watching it, even though I probably won't touch this game myself after seeing this.

Yup. Frost punk 2. Expected to be fully out later this year. Larger communities. More of an oil age than the steam age. Probably a similar time frame like ww1 and great depression equivalentsin terms of tech I guess.

I dont like the fact that "frost breakers" appear out of nowhere and disappear into thin air. And all the building is done by magically linking up with the main hub with no people involved.
One of the features that added to the first game's atmosphere is the actual people that had to make their way through the snow to get anywhere. You FELT for them.
This game feels more like a soulless 4x tile manager.
a necessity of the change in scope. the amount of micro management in the first game made sense for a survival city builder, but obviously in the sequel it's about more than just survival. the post apocalypse is over and it's the post post apocalypse now.
That's an unavoidable casualty of the larger scope. It's hard enough to make that work for a city with a few hundred inhabitants, with thousands like this it's just impossible.
@@bmobmo6438 it was already pushing its limits by the end of the first game. after the 3 refugee convoys you had nearly 700 pop which is basically impossible to keep track of.
Agree with you here. The real humans struggling made the first game “real”, you rooted and feel for them. With This one not so much
While I can understand your intital impression, the new direction of the game is much more about the tougher decisions that come up while working with the different factions. As I mentioned the survival stuff is still there, but everything in FP2 seems to be a much larger scale, where some of those things you miss wouldn't make sense.

What a shame the hud/ui is far from the first game which captured the feelings both of frost and steampunk.

I actually refunded the game this morning after sitting overnight, thinking about my experience with the Utopia builder. I'll just stick to the first game for now and hope this game falls in price and gets improved over the years. Sitting around, staring at my screen waiting for heat stamps, just isn't what I want from this.
Would love to see all the base factions together not just 2. Imagine the political shitshow
Tbh, I'm disappointed with what they're currently doing. Buy a deluxe edition, get the access to a closed beta for your own money to report any bugs. I've seen people buying a deluxe edition and still not getting the access to the beta. Like? The companies used to pay players to report on bugs, not the other way around. What's with the greediness?
If the games goes through the next stages of updates for half a year before coming out year later then im outta here. I expect full release very soon, otherwise you are right.
Oh and you are wrong about the bugs, the job is called a beta tester and it is pretty well paid if you are good. Even someone new can expect decent money.
