  • In this video we will be repairing a boat dock ramp. My uncle in-law have come up with a temporary lifting device that we will have to build befor we can ever start on the repair itself. I'm super excited to share this project with you! I love these projects that are out of the ordinary for me. They are challenging and therefor they force me to learn. And I love learnin!!! Come along as we head to Grand Lake in the north east part of Oklahoma and fix an ol boat dock ramp by way of some torch cutting and some stick welding!!!

I work at a dock service and we work in these type of conditions all the time. We have a boat that’s fully rigged up. Building and repairing docks. I never imagined that I would get the opportunity to learn how to weld in such a cool environment. Cool to see it on CZcams.

Thanks for sharing with us Austin, enjoyed the project you took on. The welding worked out for the conditions you were in, the location was questionable though. Won't say anymore on that . Keep up the great work and look the project over before taking it on the next time. Fred.

I'm getting PTSD vibes from this one Austin. I had to reweld a wet aluminum pontoon back together a couple days ago while it was pouring rain outside... That AC kept making me tingle.
You got a bigger set of kahoneys than I do standing on that pipe like that as well...

@Wake_Maker • In all dew respect, if you are a young man, GO FOR IT!!! The only legitimate thing to hold you back would be a family member with serious health needs. If you move off for a year and return, you will have discovered that they can, in fact, make it without you, and you will learn a whole lot about yourself. You are just like most of todays young people, SCARED - E - CAT. Too afraid to get away from Mom and Dad.
I had the prevelage to grow up with a dad that did this type of work. I would not trade that prevelage for all of the tea in China. I went off to diesel school, did a lot of moving around, later went away to aviation school that had a flat market, got into a more stable industrial environment, and retired. Throughout my career, I relied heavily on the work ethic and foundation skills I learned working with my dad.
If you could get Austin to let you work for a year, you should really pay him a very handsome salary just for the prevelage, skills, and not to mention the growing up to learn about yourself.

I would recommend the goal of becoming a helper. If you already have experience building barges that will benefit your skill set to being a helper on the pipeline.

a drain hole would have just let water into the pipe up to the level of the water... Capping each end would have been better I think.
