I just DIY redid my houae and repointed the fireplace as well as did some rendering. As a DIYer it was a steep learning curve for me and alot of practice to even get smooth clean pointing. Respect on the skill and care, i wish my builders paid my built about half that much attention.

99% of tradesmen recognise terrible latching when they see it lol. This will fall apart within a couple years, it isnt anchored in any fashion. I guesse this is how things are built on the cheap in parts of asia.
He has created a perfect Greco-Roman plinth. ….I gather he made the L&R reruns, yup he does. Now this what’s called a Master Mason. Being Plumb and measured is a religion for all of us to master.
When i did my first restoration with things like that I proved to my self that ive got the Skill🤪 and that was the best official job ive ever had it taught me that i can carve the stone to and make statues so i already know what im going to enjoy when ill get old 😋 ill be doing clases about the lost skill and how ancestors build all those incredible creations even at the top of the mountains. Ps its way more simple then it looks 🙂 ones u get the idea things becomes simple 😀
Very nice work and skill but very time consuming. It's okay for just a few pieces. But if your doing a- lot of this trim it would be wise to make a mold.
im not so sure... for a couple of pillars, it might actully be cheaper and easier for him to solid plaster them like this than to organise order pay pick up fix (drill cut and patch) That video went for 12 mins at probably 2x speed.... so it took him lets say 30minutes to do that... in a 8 hour day thats 16 pillars... (probably a good day..lets say he could do 14) thats pretty good... no dragging drills or saws screws and no pick ups.. if he was working for me and did 14 in a day for $300 for a days work and a bag of cement... id be pretty friggin happy with him.

mark dwyer I believe it's a sand and cement mix most likely a 1/1. As its purely an architectural accoutrement and is fully supported along the bottom and side so the strength requirements are relatively low. That said, a simple sand and cement mixture at the proper ratios can give compressive strengths well in excess of 2kps. Please note , the cure process is the most important element of concern here not the compressive strength as a good cure will leave a product that is resistant to water erosion and infiltration. After a 7 day water cure I'd recommend a sealer/hardening agent for a product that will far outlive that Driscoll fella.

Вячеслав Рокало. На самом деле, такие изделия делаются с помощью "тяг" и быстрее и точнее. Думаю такая техника не сложна в освоении но пригодна для коротких расстояний. Лет 20 назад, делали ремонт в старом доме, где были комнаты по 30-50 кв/м, и потолками 4м. Там были такие фризы между потолком и стенами в сечении где-то 400×250мм. Были установленны новые перегородки и нужно было востановить фризы на новых стенах. До этого, подобного ничего не делали. Взял какой-то старый строительный учебник, почитал, изготовил за час тягу и за небольшое время, сейчас уже и не помню за сколько но не долго, изготовил метров 30 таких фризов с очень приличным качеством и без особых сложностей! Стоят по сей день без дефектов.

Лет 20 назад, делали ремонт в старом доме, где были комнаты по 30-50 кв/м, и потолками 4м. Там были такие фризы между потолком и стенами в сечении где-то 400×250мм. Были установленны новые перегородки и нужно было востановить фризы на новых стенах. До этого, подобного ничего не делали. Взял какой-то старый строительный учебник, почитал, изготовил за час тягу и за небольшое время, сейчас уже и не помню за сколько но не долго, изготовил метров 30 таких фризов с очень приличным качеством и без особых сложностей! Стоят по сей день без дефектов.
