im not so sure... for a couple of pillars, it might actully be cheaper and easier for him to solid plaster them like this than to organise order pay pick up fix (drill cut and patch) That video went for 12 mins at probably 2x speed.... so it took him lets say 30minutes to do that... in a 8 hour day thats 16 pillars... (probably a good day..lets say he could do 14) thats pretty good... no dragging drills or saws screws and no pick ups.. if he was working for me and did 14 in a day for $300 for a days work and a bag of cement... id be pretty friggin happy with him.

R Adams, I know, I have applied them myself but still, you can buy cheap machine made products or have far more valuable ones handmade on demand. I don't think people with a lot of money want cheap foam in their house.

mark dwyer I believe it's a sand and cement mix most likely a 1/1. As its purely an architectural accoutrement and is fully supported along the bottom and side so the strength requirements are relatively low. That said, a simple sand and cement mixture at the proper ratios can give compressive strengths well in excess of 2kps. Please note , the cure process is the most important element of concern here not the compressive strength as a good cure will leave a product that is resistant to water erosion and infiltration. After a 7 day water cure I'd recommend a sealer/hardening agent for a product that will far outlive that Driscoll fella.
