@James Paddock I didn't know you were the composer for the MIDI soundtrack! Thanks my dude and hope to listen to you again when Back To Saturn X episode 3 comes out. Cheers!
Hooooly fucking shit that rendition of E5M9 is simply the best. It's my favorite track in the entire wad besides the obvious E5M1, it's just so powerful, yet beautiful. And you just nailed it(even despite the fact that riff at the end has one wrong note, but i don't really mind that).
@@Kolibri92 the latter, unfortunately i lack the music theory knowledge to say which note exactly, so i'll just leave a link with a timecode czcams.com/video/6wUt2bJtqhI/video.html
Hehe dw, I lack music theory too. But you're right about that part. I guess, can't be all sharp and on the point when doing covers by ear. Maybe some day, after training enough. 🤔
You know the graphic designers did a good job when the box art gives me chills Also this is some top tier music I have no idea why you're this underrated
I would understand that hopefully my view of this remake doesn't throw over go the original. Which is by "Jimmy" Paddock. I only followed in his footseps.
This is the best instrumentation of the soundtrack there is, hands down. And all the tracks benefit to a great extend each. I really love what you did here and I especially dig how powerful and distinct the harmonies are. They really lift "hate machine", "adrenaline in the blood" and "you ain't the boss o'me" of the ground. I also like the balance between distorted and clean bass. Gives either a powerful lead or a good structure for the other instruments where it needs to. Finally, the tone of your acoustic guitar for "quell the beast" gave me chills. One minor complain would be that the drums sound quite loud at some point, especially in "Easel", but there's no need for pointing fingers when everything else is so masterful. Spot on at everything. Keep it up!
Thanks man, appreciate the comment. For being one to practice mixing alone with just headphones + the time spent for tuning the instrument sounds, views from different angles help greatly
Bro your modified soundtrack is the perfect combination of the original James Paddock one BUT with the metal vibes of the real instruments you have used. If James Paddock soundtrack is a masterpiece, your remade versions are the perfect enhancement. Any possibility of downloading them as audio files?
This remix is the best way to experience Paddock's soundtrack! Lightning struck twice and we have a brand new original Doom soundtrack to spend hours listening to
I can't believe something of this quality has only 5k views, it's banger after banger after banger. Easel, Riot Squadron and Hate machine are insanely good, these tracks alone put the entire BH soundtrack to shame.
@@starzach8209 I wish that for PS-platforms you could add your own addons, because I play occasionally on PS5, and can't enjoy the music packs, which there are multiple ones.
I love that "Quell the Beast" from Sigil sounds so much like "One" from Metallica. Whether this is intentional or not, I love that even in Sigil, the music sounds very much inspired by classic Metal albums, just the way Doom music should. :)

Are there tabs? if not, that's okay. if there are that would be good because this whole OST remake is amazing I like how you used the instruments that each track had (especially the synths)
You can extract the MIDIs from Sigil using the (very simply and free) tool called Slade3, then you can use yet another simple and free tool called TuxGuitar to import those MIDIs and display them as easy to read tabs. Hope this helps!
Is it hard to play midis at all? It seems like it would be difficult considering it's made on a computer and meant to be played that way but here you are playing it with "real instruments" so to speak. Just curious. This is great btw.
Well no and yes. Writing midi is easy, anyone can do that really. But for it to sound real, there's the challenge. It all comes to velocity, timing, the midi-instrument you're using. Reverb and delay as well. Until about the midway of this project, I wrote all midi by hand. Listened with ear, played with my electric piano, then clicked all the notes I thought I heard and so on, but then I got myself Arturia Minilab (which is great btw), allowing to play those notes, control automatically the velocity, timing, more "real"-like instruments, ability to modify the sound on the fly. Played by a hand always sounds different. Has a better vibe imo. On any cover on my CZcams, all the drums are midi, as I haven't been able to get myself an interface with enough outputs to record the drums myself. Maybe someday. Sorry for the long answer if it's painful to read, thanks for asking, enjoy! 😁
I'm never going to be able to get the bucket head soundtrack because I don't understand why John has to put it in European currency so this will have to do
I wonder why Paddock's work hasn't translated into recording instead of Buckethead stuff... This music is much more constructed and more driven than the later, it fits the ambiance of Doom. To me, the problem with Sigil isn't Sigil, it's Buckethead. It feels like Romero was like "OMG Buckethead music in my maps". But didn't reflected a second about the cohesion of the end product. Hard maps need good music, not a moody-mushy no-direction soundtrack. Buckethead has skill with a guitar, but he played the same thing over and over for years and he has no direction, it feels like he records his jam and replay them, he bores me. *yawn* Must have been disappointing for James Paddock.
Nothing beats the original, right? And I mean, this rendition strays a bit from the original, end product became very metal. Thanks for the feedback, though! Glad you gave it a listen. ✌️
