- Black Hawk Down (2001) - Rent or own full movie: amzn.to/2NROKbG
The film takes place in 1993 when the U.S. sent special forces into Somalia to destabilize the government and bring food and humanitarian aid to the starving population. Using Black Hawk helicopters to lower the soldiers onto the ground, an unexpected attack by Somalian forces brings two of the helicopters down immediately. From there, the U.S. soldiers must struggle to regain their balance while enduring heavy gunfire.

My God I’d be deaf even before he puts his SAW right over my head. A 7.62 M60 is bad but I imagine the SAW is worse without hearing protection.
M60 would be far louder, never used one but the M240 is much louder than a SAW and M60 is same caliber as the 240.
Uh, isn't the M60 AND the M240 both designated as a Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW)?
@@onefivefourzerosevenproduc3261 Technically yes.
M249 is a squad automatic weapon, M60 is a general purpose machine gun

Had to scroll too far for this lmao
It explains a lot
Literally just noticed this haha
Ma man Phil 😊
And he can make Margaritas with Salt on the rim, while administering 1st aid
You can easily hear the fear and nervousness in 6-4s voice
1:42 T/Sgt Timothy A. Wilkinson (right) later received the Air Force Cross, the Air Force’s highest honor, for his actions in Mogadishu. And his squadmate - M/Sgt. Scott C. Fales (left), received the Silver Star.
This wasn't seen in the movie but I think this was mentioned in the book either it was Wilkinson or Fales going to resupply one of them literally went out getting fired at and went to the Rangers position to resupply then went back out made it back in without getting hit. Then one problem... they forgot the IV packs so one of them went out again being open fired at running to the Rangers position again without getting hit, got the IV packs then went back out again being fired at and finally reached back to the helicopter without getting hit.
@brianson2733 somebody who was watching him do that said "God loves medics". 😂
Lol..Air Force, Silver Star, Master Seargent, prove it. SHOW YOUR RANK.
2000 somalis dead and 18 Americans dead. Thank god for our soldiers fighting hard and the experience they are given in training… it probably saved hundreds in this battle
Actually the vast majority of Somali deaths were civilian casualties at the hands of Somali militias before the battle even took place. Our soldiers didn’t kill 2000 Somalis. There were 160 Americans Over 84 of them got wounded. The actual number of Somali soldiers killed or wounded is unknown.
USA doesn't know what happened in Somalia muqdisho America Pakistan Indian Malaysia we are coked than we eat 🍛🍜🍜🥣🥣🍳🥘😂😂😂😂
American soldiers are well trained. Even against the odds we come out on top. The Somalis outnumbered US forces but were tactically wreckless.
lmao made up numbers by americans to hide the fact that they lost the war and had to run out of Somalia, there was 133 sna and 150 civilians killed mostly by indiscriminate helicopter gunfire, against 18 us special forces and 2 blackhawks with 60 injured, according to the Red Cross which is a reliable source, Unlike the American propaganda.
Somali militias killed civilians before the us came
I think 160th guys deserve to be in the mainstream conversations with sf tier 1 and 2 and smu in general. I can’t believe there are helis that have the power to carry 160th guys balls let alone carry out wild And intense combat flight conditions
you're allright?

I want to see more Black Hawk down scenes 😥
Black Hawk Down 2001
"Super 68" was lucky here. "Super 64" unfortunately wasn't and I'm sure those who saw the movie knew what happened at the end of the clip.
It was a sad chapter in American support for their troops. RIP guys
RIP Shugart and Gordon.
Considering 68 in real life crash in an ally and had its cockpit crush by a wall and 64 crashed pretty much as we see it. Ya 64s crash was better also according to what i read. The book plus other work most the crew of 64 did survive the crash or seem too. If only they had been able to get there
Yepp they should of sent more reinforcements to help out the pilot
@@alphaares6027 they should've gotten Executive Outcomes to assist them at least without the public knowing it US Army could have taken the credit as long as the Independent south african PMCs provided support and security without unwanted publicity.
50 second mark. Imagine being shot at but you cant move because you have soldiers rappelling down. The pilot must have had the seat modified to accommodate his enormous balls
Really great film I hope this video does well!

Typically, Hollywood overdramatizes things, but IMO, this movie is one of the rare exceptions where the actual incident exceeds it in intensity. Compare the scene here to actual footage and radio:

@@An0niem4 Wasnt this actually a good cause, them fighting against the local warlord who was stealing supplies that the international aid was sending them?
They actually did. But for movies sake in order to see the actors expressions, eye pro wasn’t worn. It’s the same thing why they’re names were on the helmets. It was a real thing but it’s so that tha audience knows who’s who.

Why the hell would they order another chopper to immediately take the place of one that has just been hit? Very poor decision that cost lives
Its esay to judge from the outside
Because the guys on the ground needed every air support they had available to them. The Little Birds just weren't enough so the Black Hawks provided support from their snipers and miniguns

How many casualties did the US have in this battle compared to the Taliban's casualties
The US wasn't fighting the Taliban here, they were fighting the Somali National Alliance. But anyway, the casualty count was 93 US marines to the SNA's 1127 troops. So yeah, America was ambushed and outnumbered but still dominated the casualty count

What started this war
A dictator
@@scorpionizmydaddyeditzit's not a dictator. There's some kind of Vacuum of power in Somalia at the time, so many war lords start trying to get in control. One of the most dangerous one, is yes. Mohammed farrah aidit.
The plan was to be in and out in one hour.
The mind of man plans his way,
But the Lord directs his steps. Proverbs 16:9.
malaysian soldiers save american soldiers
I hate that they show the somalis firing RPGs into the air at the helicopters, because in real life the person firing r2g would get killed by the backblast when the rocket propelled grenade fires out, it would have been cool if they had shown what actually had to happen, because they got smart and realized if they dug holes and put the back of the RPG into the whole it would disperse the energy from the back last so you wouldn't get instantly killed. It still wasn't fun to be the one firing it, but it made it so they could fire RPGs right into the are basically. Because that and they're heavier machine guns were the only thing that could really hit the helicopters cuz they didn't have manpads or anything like that. Thank God they didn't result would have been way more of a Slaughter than it already was. It also really pisses me off that this was the incident that finally made the command structure to be like oh do you know what the overly exposed guys on top of the vehicles shooting the machine gun which is making you a priority Target for the enemy they should probably have some cover. So that's why there's Shields and bulletproof canopies and things like that. It makes me sick how long it took for the politicians and old farts to finally get that going. Just like in Vietnam they gave them shity trucks so they had to weld stuff on and throw sand bags and big ass machine gun and anything else they could do to make their chances of survival better. Because Vietnam and then almost every war after that became a lot more deadly because of booby traps, landmine and now especially in the last 30 years or so IED's.

A lot of good young US men died in these battles on this God forsaken land simply because they followed orders.
This whole mission was botched from the get-go. American lives wasted for the needless pursuit of war.

The us could have lead a special forces to rescue the Iranian hostages but they failed at that
Any time americans try to help a country in the world it end’s horribly blows up in their face, and that country is left to wolves or even worse they have a shitty leader like ayatollah, or Pinochet, or Jorge Rafael Videla

@@sneakysasquatch6014 Even then who the Hell started it? UN Went there to provide food only to be get killed
You should have blame the UN not the US, you people always blame America for no other reasons just because you saw WAR WAR AND FCKING WAR before looking at the reason why they even there in the 1st place
And most of all BLAME THE FCKING SOMALIS not the US
This little battle in Mogadishu is a defeat for the US military, but Holywood has once again harnessed the heroic epic.
They never showed it as a victory, as at the end the soldiers are clearly shown as exhausted and defeated men who barely survived. However, it did rightful show the heroic actions and sacrifices taken by the US ground troops, nothing wrong with that.
@@roy6907 The US intervened in Somalia for imperial purposes. As in every war ..... It is not to prevent hunger or democracy ..... You US people believe in this boast but the whole world does not believe anymore. The only thing that is real in the film is that the Somalis repel the imperial American soldier.
@@cagdaskose9429 No one said that America was justified to intervene in a foreign war, and it wasn’t. Even at the end of the movie, there is no sense of victory, only survival as the US achieved virtually nothing from the battle. But it did show the actions of the US troops who weren’t fighting for their country, but for themselves and their comrades, which is often the case.
More times than not in the modern era, US ground forces generally see the conflicts they fight in as pointless or counterproductive decisions made by idiotic politicians back home, and their primarily focus is to survive and come back home in one piece.
