George Pickens behavioral issues should definitely have been mentioned when referencing other players being taken before him. That was a large part of it
Yeah imagine him being on the Patriots the last few years. He would have requested a trade on day 1.
Mental is half of Pro sports. Talented guys end up killing their own careers when talent only goes so far
@@ADUSNhell, my old hockey coach used to take it further. He’s say “Hockey is 90% mental, and 10% being mental.” I think the same can be said for most contact sports
I feel like Adonai Mitchell will be this years Pickens. Very talented WR with a very bad attitude. Mitchell has work ethic concerns too though.
I was going to post about Pickens being an Antono Brown personality (nothing wrong, just not everyone's cup of tea)
I know that's why any team that thought it would be too much, makes the talent useless.
Using any Raiders first round pick in the last ten years for this is shooting fish in the barrel.
As a commanders fan I feel you
At least they got it right with Amari Cooper. Too bad they traded him and in Raiders fashion picked the wrong guy with that 1st round pick in S Jonathan Abram who didn’t even last his rookie contract while the following future Pro Bowl WR were all picked in the 2nd round Deebo Samuel, AJ Brown, Diontae Johnson, Mecole Hardman and Terry McLaurin 😂
@@NotMeNaNaNa mecole hardman is a bum, idgaf about the sb winning td. he's still ass
I feel like Tyree Wilson is about to break out
@@NotMeNaNaNaa chimpanzee could have got cooper right he been nice
What’s even worse than the Patriots picking Thornton above Pickens is that the Chiefs had first dibs but traded back and still took a WR (Skyy Moore). The pick they got for the tradeback was Darian Kinnard, a practice squad level OL who isn’t on the team anymore.
I wouldnt write off Thornton quite yet, he was a deep threat with a QB who couldnt throw the ball 10+ yards
As a falcons fan, drafting Takk McKinley over TJ Watt a few picks later still haunts me to this day
Mike Mayock’s stint as a GM just proves that no matter how smart you are and what a whiz you are doing mock drafts, it’s a completely different animal when you’re actually making the picks for real.
It's still on the players to become good pros. Hard work and attention to detail will make any pro a descent player regardless of special ability.
Apparently Gruden was making all the bad early round picks and he would get bored and Mayock would take over and draft players like Maxx Crosby and other solid players
@@future_teknokrat7585 That only applies on a few of your picks. However, Mayock whole draft career picks have been bad.
People gave Mayock too much credit before he was the GM for the Raiders. The dude is not good at understanding talent, nor is he good at working with players.
Mayock was not a true GM. Everyone knows Jon Gruden had the final decision so what picks were truly all Mayock. Were any???
You failed to mention the Lions drafting Eric Ebron (aka Droptimas Prime) and leaving Aaron Donald ( The Greatest DT in History) on the board.
What a terrible pick Ebron was 😭
@@xArtoriasTheAbysswalker Droptimus prime is JOKES lmao
Though it is a good example, the video is about the last few years, not the last 15.
@@BlakeWR81 Don't care. I am still bitter about it.
@@daycased8200 Haha, I feel that. Don't worry, Mayhew and Quinn can't hurt you anymore.
The Jaguars 2020 draft misses have been ROUGH
In a perfect scenario the Jag's could've had (assuming drafting based on positions they actually drafted in Rds 1 & 2)
1.9 WR- CeeDee Lamb or Justin Jefferson
1.20 CB- Jaylon Johnson/Trevon Diggs
2.10 DE- A. J. Epenesa/Justin Madubuike (not a DE, but on the D-Line).
Yep, I remember being hyped when we drafted C.J. Henderson. He was good - great CB prospect. And I'm a Florida fan. So, going from my favorite CFB team to my favorite NFL team. I was so disappointed when he flopped.
3:20 for all we know many teams also had Pickens lower on their actual boards, but NO one is gonna admit that now.
49ers success comes from banking in the late rounds, no matter how lackluster their early rounds can be.
Bosa.....
@@mattylatvala43 bosa is most certainly an exception.
As a 9ers fan this is my favorite part about us.Round 3-5 lb's and db's are littered across the field for us. Lenoir, Thomas, hufanga, ward(signed, but was a udfa), greenlaw, and plenty others over the years.
@@AD-nv7nw don’t forget that you got Brock Purdy last overall.
This has become such a thing that I am half expecting the 49ers to trade their first two round picks in exchange for the entire 4th round.
Hand size has absolutely nothing to do with why Thornton isn't a good wr 😂
No it definitely has something to do with it, not the most important thing but to say nothing is being disingenuous
It certainly doesn't do him any favors

The Eagles trading up and taking Jordan Davis over Kyle Hamilton actual kills me more than Raegor over Jefferson. I’ve been waiting for the Eagles to find their next Weapon X for what feels like 20 years now
JD is still a really good player tho. He’s no Hamilton, however he has not been a bad pick. He and Carter will be good for a long time
Well, you gotta remember during the draft. A lot of people were avoiding Hamilton early.
I'm not really bitter about taking Reagor over JJ because it put them in a position to maneuver around the draft enough to get extra 1st rounders that led to AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, and Jordan Davis. In a vacuum it looks horrible, but in the big picture it worked out better for them.
I couldn't believe teams were passing on Hamilton. I thought he was gonna be an all pro
But Davis was meant to be good while reagor was unknown and threw more people off
But everyone said Bryce had a better supporting cast going into 2023. He did go to a 7 win team. Maybe CJ just elevated others better 🤷🏼♂️
I’m originally from New England before moving to Georgia in elementary, so I grew up a Patriots fan and attended UGA. The Patriots passing on George Pickens and Ladd McConkey were devastating to watch live.
Funnily enough the Reagor pick actually worked out for us, we ended up getting AJ and it forced Howie to completely change the way he viewed WRs (hence, the Devonta pick literally the year after).
I think every eagles fan would still want JJ tho
@@adriencolesnah i’m an eagles fan n im happier w the outcome we got
I'm good, we went to a super bowl and nearly won it without Jefferson. We do thank him for forcing Howie to change his outlook tho. @@adriencoles

Poor Trevor Penning, the guy hasnt had one real offseason yet and he's getting bullied after comming from a small school. As a Saints fan, I think he can still "Legally assault people", quoting Trevor, because he started the season really badly but made some improvements through the next few weeks, and ultimately got benched because Denis Allen's job was on the line. I think that with this new offensive staff and playing time, he can still be a good tackle, or atleast be salvaged at guard. The Saints are still hopefully drafting a tackle at 14 if Penning doesn't work out, and because of Ramczyk's health, but hopefully competition can also help Penning improve. Judging a player after one real season seems kinda out of proportion, lets talk about it next year.
You mentioned a few times that you had a player above where he went but I don't see any post-mortem of picks versus where they went year to year? That'd be interesting and could show just how much of a crapshoot the whole mock draft build up ends up being, not sure if these are meant to be serious or just some fun before the draft
Darn, I saw the Vikings on the thumbnail and was hoping you were gonna dunk on Lewis Cine
Thank you for taking it easy on my boy bryce ❤
As a Texans fan taking Kenyon Green over Linderbaum or Kyle Hamilton (different positon I know but we had that original pick) is a kicker for me. Sure Pitre/Green might develop but both of those I've listed are fantastic players
ik Green was gonna be a bust after the dude legit failed the combine
What's interesting about Trey Lance is it basically changes the entire QB situation for the Niners and that in a way changes the NFL QB situation all together. Lance was supposed to be the Jimmy replacement/insurance policy. Without drafting him they probably acquire someone else, who may have been better than Lance/never got injured. Then the next year they would've had more of their picks and could've felt more comfortable drafting a QB earlier in that draft. Basically they might have never ended up with Brock Purdy if Lance didn't have question marks right away, and even if they did he might still be a backup rn because whoever they got to replace Jimmy might've never lost the job or been injured
I was so happy and relieved when the Raiders took Leatherwood. We traded back, so we got really lucky the Raiders bundled that pick. The year before that the Eagles took Reagor 😂. Rick Spielman had some gems.
fwiw i dont see the packers moving up in the draft (i think we're either trading down or maybe swapping a pick or two for a vet) but the point still stands that the saints absolutely need more draft capital lol. poor franchise has been mismanaged since the end of the brees era and has never recovered
For the 2022 class, you could also say teams letting Zach Tom drop as much as he did was a mistake. He's a top 10 tackle in the league now and a guy that can play every position on the oline at an elite level. People just passed on him because he didn't have the dream size.
still dont get y he fell tbh. it was clear he was gonna be at least an elite G at the next level
As a Jags fan, I know it was rough his rookie year, and I think Aidan is still a good player but taking Travon will probably be the right move. Granted it was always gonna be a developmental curve w Travon but even seeing his growth in year 2 has the fanbase pumped
Thornton also is a speedy wr over everything else with a qb in mac jones that couldnt get him the ball in the areas of the field where he shines most
Just FYI Gruden overrode Myock on first round picks. For some reason Gruden and OL coach wanted Leatherwood. Myock was allowed to pick later rounds. I for one do not miss Gruden 1st round reaches.
SF could have stayed put and drafted Lance at 11. As they found out when they traded him, no other team was willing to give them anything higher than a 4th round pick. An even dumber decision was the Jets turning down the trade that Miami accepted after them, to select an all time bust in Zach Wilson. Just imagine if they had all that draft capital to play with.
That muse thing looks like the new power balance bracelet.
The reality is that more often the franchise affects the prospect, rather than the prospect affecting the franchise
How are you doing my guy?
8:06 AYO!!!!😂
great vid FA
Thank you Jay!
Hey man just wanted to lyk about your last slide that Lewis Cine wasn’t taken before Kyle Hamilton in the ‘22 draft (pick 32 for Cine vs 14 for Hamilton)
Vikings had pick 12 and traded out when Hamilton was on the board
@@FootballAnalysis1 oh shoot I completely forgot about that
I think Mike Jones will be all pro if he'd been in San Francisco these past few years. With his rapid processing speed an actual weapons you can get separation he would be an upgraded version of what they have right now at quarterback
For my Ravens, even though we have drafted well over the years, the one position that the team can never nail correctly was wide receiver. I mean, when Eric DeCosta first took over the reins from Ozzie Newsome, his first draft pick was a wideout. Hollywood Brown was OK, but with the benefit of hindsight, imagine the Ravens not wasting Lamar's rookie years with him throwing passes to AJ Brown, who was picked in the 2nd round. Rashod Bateman has shown flashes, but the man can never stay healthy, and this stings too knowing Amon-Ra St Brown would not get his name called until the 4th round. Zay Flowers seem to have broken that trend, but it still remains to be seen if he can be consistent over the next few years.
iirc Pickens had issues when he was 19 in college, but had clearly matured since. Think it was overblown just my take tho
Think he fell more so due to missing his whole final year
tyler smith is a elite guard now because he failed at tackle, we needed a big aggressive type of tackle similar to terron tyler wasnt really that and most likely viewed at a Guard in the nfl by most teams, after your video talking about dallas and saying they are the "more successful saints" its pretty clear you just dont like the saints lmao. I love your content though man
Im surprised penning didn't get moved back to guard where he was a mauler tbh, he only played a few games at tackle in college
@@ghostofmoredishesmorebitch1507 im praying we just move him to LG but knowing mickey and DA he will end up getting traded away for a bag of chips
Tyler failed at tackle? Wasn’t he quite decent at tackle?
@@spidamitchell8311 no he was ass, why tf u think they moved him inside to begin with
8:06 bro was whipping him
8:04 bro got that butt slap
Whoaaaaaa wandale hate will not be tolerated he is still a good receiver even after the acl injury and I genuinely think he’s gonna have a breakout year
Don't forget to add LaPorta to Detroit's outstanding draft picks!!! Brody is a beast!!!
Drafting jaycee horn over micah parsons pisses me off still as a panthers fan
Denver drafting Paxton lynch
Saints fan here. Penning has been a bust but im hopeful that Kubiak can give him one more shot to become serviceable
Micha and Bosa on the same team would've been insane!!! Also, whomever chose that WR over Jefferson should've been fired after his rookie campaign 😭💀
Day 10 asking for a Texans analysis video
Two more days!
I never liked Penning... He averaged over a penalty per game at his small school and meathead o-line guru gushed over him just for getting in fights. Like bro a penalty a game is a drive killer per game, same as a sack is.
I always thought the NFL's focus on player safety would kill Penning's career.
The Jets shouldn't have drafted Zach Wilson (he shouldn't be drafted at all) and should've traded down to get more picks like Jamarr Chase and Penei Sewell and would've taken a developmental QB in the later rounds and acquire Joe Flacco that would've worked
Wouldn't be a draft mistake list if the Raiders weren't in it
8:51 IDK if I would call Trey Lance a bust.
We’ve really only seen him for two games.
unless it’s that he’s so bad in practice that they’re not putting him in games?
Same with mac as mac hasn’t had any weapons and has shown flashes
Patriots draft a WR under BB, expect them to stink. I think there was only Branch and Edleman who were two who amounted to anything.
And those were late round picks.
Pickens really hasn’t done anything in the league yet, these aren’t really the worst picks when Pickens also had maturity/character issues that still show up
yea bc his crappy QBs holding him back
I’m a pats fans and i never like this pick from day one simply because of his frame lol. Not gonna act like i hated the pick and i knew he would suck. But i definitely remember going “bruh is frail idk bout dat”. And do not fucking get me started on Cole fucking strange. I literally laughed out loud seeing that pick no exaggeration at all. Literally was laughing
Pickens is solid but he’s not even an actual WR1 and you put that one on there but not the commanders taking Emmanuel Forbes over Joey Porter jr?
Hated that Tyquan Thornton pick. Another one of Belichick's awful 2nd round picks. Chad Jackson 2.0
That Mike mayock draft pick list almost made me throw up, holy shit 😂
I’m a fiend for football I need help..
It's funny how Mac Jones is just declared a bust by everyone with no argument (because he is one) but won't say it about Bryce Young. Jones has the exact same excuse Young does, sh*t roster around him. I can actually name Youngs WR with the most yards without googling it (Adam Thielen), I can't do this for Jones though (Can you?). "But it's only one year!" Ok the Panthers roster will be poo in 2024 and likely in 2025, so is Young a bust-in-waiting then?
The point here is either a bad roster is an excuse for a rookie QB performing poorly or it isn't, just be consistent.
Wouldn’t it be pronounced “Mews”? Rhymes with the verb form of ‘Use’?
Ruggs and Jeudy over Lamb and Jefferson gotta be one of the biggest draft blunders of all time
Not at the time, hindsight is 20/20
@@22s22a it really kinda was at the time. Almost everybody had CeeDee as the #1 ranked WR in that class, and nobody had him falling outside the top 12 picks.
You forgot Young from carolina he will join soon
If Pickens was a patriot he would’ve been off the team by now
My Vikings taking Cine over Kyle freaking Hamilton is inexcusable.
I still remember a Vikings fan saying "Kyle Hamilton is nice but he ain't no Cine". After the draft. That aged well.
I think blaming mayock instead of gruden isn’t wise
Bustin fields is the worst qb ever. That’s a huge regret what a bum
This entire fucking list could be the commanders I hate this team and we’re about to do it again with Jayden Daniels over Drake maye 💖
belicheck would cut pickens before the season even started the minute he acted anything like a deva
Which is why Mike Tomlin has to be given credit for managing locker room egos and getting production. AB was an all Pro under Tomlin the moment he leaves is loose cannon and cut
@@jamesknapp64 oh absolutely, it’s impressive work
Lets say niners never trade for lance, take parsons, still trade for cmc, take mafe in the first in 22 realistically, then take branch in the first in 23. yeah fuck mahomes, we have his kriptonyte in branch
Bro if they had Micah they’d have like at least two chips. Shit they could’ve traded to 3, still took Micah and then still won a chip or two even without the firsts. Crazy to think how loaded that class was bro you had Micah, chase, pitts, sewell, Amon ra, and so so many. That’s why I’m so excited for this draft cause I think it’s the best class since that amazing 21 year. And yeah credit for them completely drafting a bust, and still being one of the best teams in the league lol 😂. But yeah with him they win at least one, maybe two rings
andy isabella over dk metcalf lol
Obviously no, the 9ers don't have a Super Bowl if they never make the Trey Lance trade. Dumb question
Why do you use first names when talking about the players?
What's funny is if a clown organisation like Chicago or Cleveland had done what San Francisco did with Lance, they'd be decimated for an entire decade. San Fran just did better and made a Super Bowl.
Nah. I can't really speak for the Browns (though they did make the playoffs last season despite everything going wrong for them, which is only the second year after the colossal mistake that was selling their soul for Groper Cleveland), but the Bears actually did do this very thing with Trubisky and still made the playoffs with him twice. The bottom eventually fell out, but even their most legendary draft fail was never really the disaster it has since been made out to be. He isn't Mahomes, obviously. But does Mahomes even become Mahomes without being drafted into the single most perfect situation for an incoming rookie quarterback ever? And the post-Trubisky rebuild is on the cusp of bearing fruit in year three (for the current GM) or four (overall), not 10.
Also, while the Niners still had a playoff caliber team outside the QB position, they would likely have been in a much more precarious situation had they not bumblefucked their way into a franchise QB with the literal last pick in the draft. It doesn't matter how well any given franchise is run, a Brock Purdy falling into your lap is just pure dumb luck. You simply can't find anyone that good that late on purpose. Even if you could, completely whiffing at the very top of the draft the year before completely negates any credit you'd deserve for it.
we all know why bill didnt draft pickens
That Bryce is already the worst number one ever include it dalton proves it was Bryce not the roeter
I’m so glad Brad Holmes exists and is now in Detroit. I don’t have to stress when the draft comes up anymore , I just get excited.
The English word muse has a pronounciation, and its not muuse. MUse. MUse.
It's entirely possible that if the 49ers stay put and draft Mac Jones they beat the Eagles to make the superbowl in 22-23. Mac is a more durable version of Brock Purdy with a lot of the same elements to his game.
Brock got injured the same year as 2 other 49er QBs got injured.
The problem is Mac Jones went from having a decent OC to one of the worst run offensive organizations we've ever seen. I would have loved to see what he could do in SF.

Taco charleton over tj watt is another one😂 imagine Micah and TJ on same team
As a fan of the commanders, I still dont understand the Emmanuel forbes pick over Christian Gonzalez
Yeah that was a head scratcher for sure. Forbes got picked on so much. I hope the Commanders can land Rakestraw jr in the second round. I still have PTSD from when my team the Steelers drafted Artie Burns.
I mean I completely get it even tho it was the wrong move. There are different types of number 1 CBs they thought they were both CB1s but they wanted the playmaking CB1 over the shutdown don't even throw to his side CB1. Unfortunately for them Forbes isn't even a CB1.
