This story hits home. And unfortunately with the same car. Please put your key fob in a faraday bag it will help. This will block their computer from obtaining your key’s signal. Always keep your key fob in the bag especially when you are out shopping, at work, and or at home. If you don’t have the time to wait on a bag, wrap your key fob in aluminum foil. Once wrapped in foil, press the lock button on your remote to see if the car is receiving the signal. The key should appear dead and will not communicate with your vehicle while wrapped. Of course you will need to unwrap the fob when you are ready to gain access to your car. I hope this helps. God bless everyone and please stay safe.

My neighbor used to work for one of the large auto dealerships and says many of the younger car thieves are all former or current techs. He says they get jobs as techs just so they can steal the equipment that helps them gain access into your vehicle. He also says if you take your car in for service and it's a popular make/model like a Charger, don't be surprised if it's stolen a week or two later. He says the techs take down your VIN and address and show up to collect your car later. Wouldn't be surprised if he had his Charger serviced recently.

Wire in a kill switch is great advice. Auto lock is another. It locks the doors until you press a button under the car seat. Everytime you use the key fob to unlock your car. you broadcast a signal. this signal can be picked up and used to mimic your key fob,and open your car door. The steering wheel lock should take care of them stealing the vehicle. but does not stop entry to the vehicle.

And aftermarket alarm with GPS like viper works well. I had that viper alarm for years. And install a hidden kill switch. The car will never move with these small investments. So before installing anything tires wheels pipes get the security portion straight first.

Not true your alarm is only as good as the installer. Most installers do it quick and dirty. I have defeated many aftermarket alarms in a matter of seconds. Not that seconds really matter. But most installers just slice into the ignition system near the bottom of the steering column. Look up under there you'll see the controller and what wires they spliced. Than disconnect the controller twist wires back together it's defeated. And you normally find spools of wire that came with the alarm that was intended to be ran deep into the electrical system. There is something simple a car owner can do. A car’s engine needs fuel to run, help yourselves by installing a kill switch that kills the fuel pump when ever wherever you park. It don’t get any simpler that that. You can also remove the fuse or the relay for the fuel pump or a fuse for the ignition.
