    Stanza 1
Trials often remained with me a long time afterwards,
the greater the stress, the better the lessons
I'm walking along caring about neither myself nor my way
now I must change direction and return to the top.
    Chorus
    This is the day
that was laid out for me, that ran with me always in my heart
    and
the light is fading, flowing down onto the smile.
    Stanza 2
She was the flame in my heart that for me inspired the old desire,
a thoughtful smile, and me hiding in it.
I left the search to fail that day when I ran
"Have it and don't follow the one who follows..."
    Chorus

I am super American, as in you have to go back like 100 years in my family before we can be considered Irish. But Celtic music and just Irish culture in general has always felt like home to me. Last year when I discovered Seo Linn I was on foreign exchange in Italy, and I felt horribly lonely a lot of the time. I was picked on by my host family and some of my schoolmates, and there were some issues happening back at home that I had to watch from a distance, which was hard. This song always comforted me and made me feel better. It still does. Thank you for such a beautiful and uplifting piece of music!
I'm still waiting for you guys to come to the Western US. :)

I can say the same about being Canadian Chloe. In my case, our roots go back roughly, two hundred years here, in Atlantic Canada. I am of Irish descent, as well, and find the same about Irish Music and Culture. Well, Celtic Culture in general, I guess. The power and passion of it really, grabs you. Don't know it it's wishful thinking or if it's our Genetic Roots calling out to us, after all. If so, our forefathers would be pleased, I believe.
My Celtic Best. Be Well. Be Safe. Out.

@@buffy377 : Do you think we hold our Ancestor's Memories Buffy? What a sweet, beautiful, thought.
The English tried to destroy the language and culture of my forefathers, so it's wonderful to know there is a possibility that it lives on in the Genes of us, today. There's another possibility as well, you know; if there is any truth to Reincarnation then who's to say that many of us have not had previous lives as either Irish or Scottish or what have you, and carry memories deep within our subconscious, from that. Right? Just a thought.
Or it could be nothing more than that we can be brought to our knees by anything that is hauntingly, beautiful. That's if it resonates with us deep, down, inside. It can happen with me, with certain East Indian Chanting, as well. First Nations Singing and Chanting can do it sometimes. I've been heavy, into Asian music and singing over the past year or so, and have found the same with a lot of that.
So maybe, it's something even, deeper and broader than where we believe we've originated from. Maybe it's something that touches us deeply, on a Spiritual Level, regardless, anyway. Right?
My Celtic Best. Be Well. Be Safe. Out.

    • @buffy377
      @buffy377 Pƙed 4 lety +3

Yes I an I believe it with all my heart. I also do believe that reincarnation is possible. Native American music also holds power over me and can bring me to my knees. I feel that music can tell us where our souls originated from by how it makes us feel.

Languages change all the time and can have influences from everywhere.

They're both Indo-European languages, so there are some connections. And other Celtic languages were spoken from Ireland to Turkey at some stage, across Germany and, in particular, Switzerland (Helvetica comes from the name of the Helvetii Celtic tribe). So early German, which was spoken to the North of the Celtic-speaking territories, would have been stronger influenced by Celtic and vice versa. However, as someone who speaks both Irish and German, the similarities are minor.
