Agree with everyone. The BEST TV drama series of all time. And yes, the wonderful music of Pete Rugolo added to the quality of the show. The series also showcased the finest collection of character actors ever assembled. These individuals were hard-working and applied their craft in total support of David Janssen and the story lines. Such quality is lacking in many of today's shows, relying on coarse language and glib characters. Thank you for this video.

I was a teenager when THE FUGITIVE was in its original run and was such a devoted fan that as I went about my personal activities, for fun I often pretended I was Kimble. In my mind I would imagine Pete Rugalo's music and William Conrad's narration. It's a wonder I wasn't detained by the police for suspicious behavior. Once, while shopping in a store I got spooked when I thought I saw Lt. Gerard looking through the window in a door to the backroom. It turned out to be the reflection of Barry Morse's picture on the cover of a TV GUIDE issue displayed on a nearby magazine rack. That cured me of those fantasies. LOL!

One weeknight, each week as a young child my family and I were glued to our B&W TV to watch The Fugitive. After the show I'd go to bed, which gave me about another hour or so more to fantasize about the show before drifting off asleep. I think my mom (RIP) had a big crush on Dr. Richard Kimble, as I'm certain many housewives did. And my siblings and I rooted for him every week as if he were our dad. His character had that odd mixture, bridging the gap between masculinity & vulnerability. Kimble was always on the run, always in need of help, but never too desperate that he couldn't return the favor before moving on to the next town, like an iconic Western hero. If anybody has asked my friends and I what we wanted to be when we grew up, I wouldn't have said Batman, Superman, or Captain Kirk. I'd have said Dr. Richard Kimble fm The Fugitive.

Absolute pure class in every aspect. David Janssen's acting acumen allowed him to personify the Kimble character and never failed to command the viewers attention from beginning to end. The old saying "they don't make 'em like they used to" sure fits this stand-out television drama. It was a favorite of mine as a kid during the first run of the show and I have always searched for re-runs in the years following. Technology made a dream come true in that I now proudly own the entire series on DVD, but still seek out the cable airings. It simply ranks as one of the finest tv dramas in every respect. Pete Rugolo's score is pure gold and those violin sweeps heighten my senses every time I hear the theme and music bed score. Quinn Martin already had a great track record going into "The Fugitive", but I think this series set a high mark for all his shows to follow.

I’ve rediscovered, The Fugitive, as I was only 13 when it first aired, so David Janssen as Dr Kimble was just a guy with a story that was exciting to watch, a serial to follow, and now I’m much older, I see the great actor on the re-runs as an attractive man that he is as Dr Kimble, his expressions, his smiles, his gentleness, his sensibility and his versatility, he proved in many ways he was innocent and that is superb acting and portrayal of this iconic serialised drama that kept its appeal for 3 yrs. Love this video and shows these points that I already came to a conclusion about the man and the TV series....well done 👍 RIP David you died much too young at 48 😥

It was if he was born to play this haunted character and he played it to perfection making it perfectly believable. I’ve often wondered about that too. When you have close-ups of cars the license plates are from the state Kimble is supposed to be in. But if you look very closely, in some scenes the surrounding cars have those old black and gold California plates. It would have been really expensive to be filming in different states but they did a really good job of camouflaging.

Angela, this is absolutely fantastic!! I enjoyed every minute! I fell in love with his portrayal of Doctor Kimble which was always superb - even on an off day! The producers, directors and writers were magnificent in maintaining the consistency of his character through some seriously creative storytelling. I always think David was absolutely stunning in Never Wave Goodbye and Storm Centre...so sad he went so soon :-(

Like Johnathan Frid in Dark Shadows, David Janson had the same type of secret hurting charm type of personality in the The Fugitive. Acting at its very best!

I always enjoyed watching David Janssen in all the TV Series fom Richard Diamond that he made plus his Movie - Ring Of Fire.
Here in The UK we saw a number of other TV Movies and Films that David also made and appeared in, but my favourite TV Series for watching David Janssen in was - O'Hara US Treasury, which was a better suited TV Series for David than was his Harry O TV Series and O'Hara should have run for more than just only one single season.
I would love to see the O'Hara TV Series again.

back in the 6o's tv shows were more exciting. now there are only sit-com's. I haven't watch TV for over 10 yrs, so I am guessing. Love, the Saint, Mission Impossible, and RT.66 were my favorites

I was very surprised to learn from Barry Morse's comments on a VHS tape that the show was filmed almost exclusively near L.A. There was a 2-part episode with Susan Oliver that was filmed in Santa Barbara but that was an exception. I can't help noticing that you never see storefronts or billboards that would give away the time period (such as you do in "Route 66") which is one reason why the show holds up so well. Do you think that was intentional or an accident?

I feel that two best actresses in the series were Jacqueline Scott and Janice Rule (2nd of her two appearances). I am not sure you listed her. Later in life, she got her Ph.D. And became a psychologist.

I loved The Fugitive as a boy! Dr Kimble had a real dignity. I always wondered what happened to him after his exoneration. Were he and Jean happy? Did they have any kids? Did Kimble fade into obscurity? These questions intrigued me so much that I wrote a piece of fan fiction about Dr Kimble in the form of an interview with him on his 90th birthday. If you are interested you can check it out on my website. www.kurtkeefner.com/post/interview-with-anti-death-penalty-activist-richard-d-kimble-md
