Here for sale we have a stunning Yamaha SG1820 from 2014, made in the Yamaha Japan Custom Shop. The Yamaha SG1820 saw Yamaha produce a fairly traditional guitar, with Yamaha opting for a more traditional build style, with a conventional glued-in mahogany necks with a classic combination of mahogany body topped by a new, deeper carved maple top. The SG1820 was apparently inspired by a custom order from none other than Aussie rockers, Airbourne. They'd asked for a stadium-ready SG1000 with PAF-style humbuckers and a simpler aesthetic.
Similarly to a Les Paul, the scale length of this guitar is 24 3/4 , with the tonewood choice also the same. The guitar itself is fairly heavy, certainly heavier than your usual SG. The result of this is plenty of sustain and a massive, warm tone. The set neck has a fairly substantial profile and a moderately wide feel. This is a great shape for those with slightly bigger hands and is certainly a guitar for those looking for a traditional feeling instrument.
Equipped in the SG1820 are a pair of Seymour Duncan ‘59 SH-1n & b pickups. There are underwound, PAF style pickups and give a warm, vintage voiced tone. In combination with the Mahogany body there is plenty of sustain produced, this guitar is amazing for classic rock and blues. Other high end features include: Tone Pros bridge/tailpiece, Graph Tech Tusq nuts, CTS pots, Switchcraft toggle switches and locking Grover tuners.
