    Seeing a British reality TV show isn't so common, but the Wheelers Dealers prove that assertion wrong. The show was originally produced by Attaboy TV for the Discovery Channel in the UK and for Motor Trend in the United States. The show is hosted by Mike Brewer and top mechanic Ant Anstead before being replaced by Marc Priestley.
    Just like other automobile-themed shows, Wheelers Dealers revolves around saving old cars by repairing and selling them. While the reason behind Ant’s absence is very much clear to all fans, it’s been a while since they heard from him. What really happened to Ant Anstead? Let’s get into the full details.

      I don't want to say bad things about "Elvis" - I can do mechanical work, putting camshafts in and even using the machine tools, nothing special there. Edd did seem to have more vehicle engineering skills. I think we want to see genuine skills, I like to see skills I don't have or can get (vehicle body work).
      Not sure if getting Edd and Mike B back moves the show forward any, it was stagnating. To me if Richard Hammond who we all know is more a journo than engineer, (same for that horrible Henry Cole, James May) then there's a good opportunity for TV commissioners to look at the Edd Vehicle Engineering show.

Ed was our guy we could all feel we can do what he did, with AA was the opposite and the presentation was more theatrical, americanized, a show not closely related with reality, something that the original first WD with Ed was.

      Totally agree apart from the bit about AA being more skilled than Ed. In the days of Ed, WD was a low budget show until Discovery took over and moved it to US. Money was thrown at WD which enabled it to up its game and use more consultants and experts when required, this enabled Ed followed later by AA to appear to expand their knowlage. Ed was always the most popular and seemingly genuine. Wish we could see more of Ed.

THEN, because she was out of a job due to being pregnant and having a baby, he had to pay extra for spousal maintenance. @@jw-pk5vf Thanks. Not wishing to talk badly of anyone I don't know. From my own experiences I know doing good "metal bashing" (vehicle body work) takes a lot of time to learn, it's a real skill, it can't be learnt on a part time basis.
      Usually handsome men are more into themselves/chicks than spending hours learning the skill for which there is no substitute for hands-on which does take a toll on the hands/skin. I was suspicious of how Ant could be so good at metalwork when he never seemed to have put in the hours learning it. Eg a (UK) policeman has no free time for anything than the job.
      There was a piece of metal needed to fit the lower corner of a windscreen that was to be fabricated, it was all curves, I >know< that takes a huge amount of skill, the impression was Ant did it, suspicious. And that sunroof removal/replacement, all the curves on a roof takes skill to get right.

    With Ed China he actually showed you how to do things and explained well. As a result, I successfully did a few jobs on my car which I wouldn't otherwise have tried. I also liked his contrasting personality to Mike. With Ant, many of the things he showed could only be done in a proper garage. Also his style was more demonstrating what a clever bloke he was, so it wasn't so enjoyable. But both are obviously great mechanics and unlike some other commentators I think Mike was great and kept the show light and entertaining.

    Ed decided to leave wheeler Dealers so he could do new projects and now has got his own you tube channel with Paul the mechanic I do like all 3 of them Ed did stuff his way which was brilliant and ant so did ant he was brilliant for that and then mark is doing thing's his way and that's brilliant but they all get on with each others and meet up with Mike on any car's shows they have a great time

    Edd I enjoyed but the reason he left WD did not have anything to do with ego clashes. Discovery as it does with so many shows e.g Iron Resurrection was trying to turn it into a "reality" show which was less and less about the work. Ant I always felt I was being spoken down to.
    As to his marriage none of my business.

    I was a fan of Ant on Wheeler Dealers - methodical and a good presenter. Ed China was amazing and I always watch reruns of Ed on that show. I would think Mike would be hard to get on with. For all his "knowledge' he comes across as someone who's never changed a tyre let alone a camshaft.

I wouldn't have liked to fall foul of Ant when he was in the police,he doesn't seem like the kind of cop that would cut you any slack lol. But I don't think he deserves all the vitriol. But they do say it is easy Gary. Thats the problem. Thats the lie told by society to those getting married. Its why people get hysterically stupid when a young woman says " I got engaged" and everyone acts like she won the lottery because like Ants 2nd wife proved... she did!!! Young men are stupid enough to believe the lie. So when you say " No one said it was easy" thats just not true. Society only tells you that AFTER you walk out of the church. Anyway... this is a car channel not a " dont get married" Channel.. sorry. As regards Ant?... he was a big boy when he got taken to the cleaners by his 2nd wife so like all things... he has to suck it up.

    Ant couldn't be bettered in the programme for the love of cars all the way back in 2014 . As excellent as the programme was it shows the folly of car restorations ? All the cars restored where sent to auction but basically didn't achieve anywhere near the cost of the restoration in man hours and parts .
    Great for us the viewer and even better for the lucky people who bought some exemplary restored vehicles, I just wish Channel 4 or others would make some more nut and bolt restorations of this calibre , car SOS comes close but the end result isn't as pristine and back to a concourse origional condition as for the love of cars .

    • @amirmajid1366
      @amirmajid1366 Před rokem

      I really appreciated Car SOS and their efforts from season 8 episode 1, the Porsche 356C. That was a useless scrapheap that many would have chucked in the bin, it was extremely far gone with little to no viable steel left. To the extent that a bar had to be welded on in order for the car to stop itself from snapping in half at the b pillars, and to restore that (originality aside, I'm sure they did their best even if every nut and bolt wasn't identical to factory specifications) was a monumental task and they managed to pull it off really well. They do fantastic work and I honestly prefer to Wheeler dealers for that reason.
