    This is when Mattel focused more on fashion and quality in dolls, sadly barbie started going in a downward spiral towards the end of fashion fever which was around 2007-08, after that it was all about hot pink glitter and dolls that were just yawn

      Well atleasrt they are still fashionable and glam until 2014. 2015 up to present barbie lost her style, just plain polkadot printed paper dress 😔

      naaaah up until 2014 barbie had quality or at least on the collectors line but now even with the signature dolls can't even compete with a playline doll from before

    I think Fashion Fever is definitely the most successful line of fashion Barbie had, you need to check out the Fashion Fever Makeup line, it has four dolls and the faces are painted very beautifully :D

    I have the actual Barbie doll from that line (the one with pink hair). The Tokyo Pop dolls were a sub division of the regular Fashion Fever line. In 2004 I was on a "no buy" because of being recently married, building a house, etc. But when I found her at Target for only $10.99 I knew she was a "must buy!" I've never been sorry. She's one of my favorite dolls and I've only seen her on eBay for around $100 (the pink Barbie). It was fun to see Drew out of her tube as I've never de-tubed mine!

    The older Barbie have a different body shape then the new ones. The new ones have a new body mould then the older one hence why they are thinner.

    The Tokyo Fashion Fever line were released in 2005. 2004 is the year that "Fashion Fever" actually came out first. The "Fashion Fever" Barbie dolls weren't taller than other Barbie dolls, also there were not different sizes, etc.
    And maybe she feels a little 'heavy' because of the boots or even because of the stand... Or because that is a Barbie doll from the time were dolls were well made it and not cheap as the new ones? So, that comparative to that new doll made out of hollow plastic is quite incoherent to me (Think of it).
    This line in particular was inspired on Tokyo fashions at the time and it's so accurate because Mattel have (or had really good ones) socialists and fashion designers that they were sent to Tokyo to study society, people's aesthetics and the fashion as well. And yeah, I kinda agree that Drew look like some 90's fashion... Imagine if "Fashion Fever" had emerged back in the 90's? I think she looks like late 90's avantgarde fashion. Drew is actually one of my favorites from the "Fashion Fever" series.

    Your last video I said Courtney and Whitney were my favorite but oh my gosh! Drew is now my favorite. Her auburn hair is stunning and her style i so Gwen Stephani Harajuku! They need to make this remake this character!!!!!!!!!! Truthfully the only difference I would make is her name. I think Akiko matches her personality.

    I love Drew, love the face and the clothes they gave for her, I wish I had Drew, instead I’ve the Fashion fever Kayla and I think she’s the same size as my Palm Beach Barbie from 2002. I got the Kayla doll from 2005. I wish they brought Drew back and put her available on the Mattel website.

    I love fashion fever Tokyo drew , I also have her , she is regular Barbie size , it's because she has platform boots that she looks larger than normal , I gave mine an articulated body using a dream house body so she can pose better!

  • @sharonayak
    @sharonayak Před 9 lety +2

    the playline barbies in 1990s and early 2000 were of much better quality than todays barbies which are hollow and have really cheap plastic accessories. The Fashion fever barbies ARE play line. they are the predecessors of The Fashionistas. I'm from india and we ONLY get play line dolls here. :((( i buy everything online though. ebay addict too!

      Actually she and her sister designed the whole first line. After that, they were co designed the rest of the line (before Mattel took control for the rest of this Era of Barbie). They also are the performers of the song! :D

    I noticed this time around they're not really focus on fashion the quality clothes suck I don't know what happened to Mattel why they don't want to have good quality Barbies anymore

  • @Danna-rc5sf
    @Danna-rc5sf Před 8 lety +1

    I just found Drew mint in package at the thrift store for $9! So excited! But when I looked on Barbie values there seem to be two versions with different box numbers. Mine is G 9010 which is worth less and is listed as fashion fever. The one with box number starting in H is worth more and is listed as Tokyo Pop. I cannot see any difference in the doll or packaging in the photos. Does anybody know what the difference is?
