I had the same problem with the undercarriage boss mount not fitting corectly on my vehicle. GM model. Had to make some modification to make it work correctly.
I like the truck videos
We have lived on a private road ,we are the end place for 30 yrs, love it.
We’re on a class 6 as well. 1 mile of snow to where the town plows - it would be spring by the time the tractor made it out there.
Nice to see your child helping on the farm not like city kids refreshing good kid. Was it difficult installing the plow complete
Lol...I knew it was Figaro...I wonder where he was. It was really cool to see how you trim your goats hooves.
I found this video looking for some thoughts on putting a plow on my Tundra... what an enjoyable video!
And now the additional road to the NEW BARN !!!!!!!!
That's a lovely long driveway a little off the beaten track...Glad you included the original ending with Olivia..its nice!😗👍✌🏼
Moose is the Man!
I was thinking that if you screwed a sturdy cup hook onto the nesting box area of New Yolk City, Olivia could hang her basket there and have both hands free. Wad'da you think?
I like it.
Hi....... AL and Olivia nice to see you I love your video, thank you for sharing your video homestead chicken farmer garden 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 👨👩👧👸👕👓🐩🐔🐓🐥🐖🐈🌱🐐🏡🎥👍👍👍
Your chickens sure like to makes comments on your work. We love it.
10:35 looks like a chicken bac on ranch
If I’m going to lose my front tow hooks, (which I have used in the past) I’m not interested… I thought about getting a plow for my 19’ Tundra . But that’s a deal breaker
WELL WHAT'S USUALLY,
A TWO-MAN JOB AL ...
YOU MAKE IT LOOK SO EASY BY DOIN
IT URSELF THERE DUDE. 👍🏼 .....
( KNUCKLE👊🏽BUMP ) Lumnah Acers.....
🐷🐐🐓🐔🍓 good day to you Al, Gina & Olivia !! thanks for sharing another awesome update and adventures on the homestead !! 🍓🐔🐓🐐🐷
Great video. Wow . Those chickens are really doing their job very well.
Can you imagine all the rain that we had, and is it had turn into snow we would have feet over feet over feet piled high of SNOW .... I snuck in and used my personal time to watch y’all have a good day
If this rain was snow I couldn't imagine.
Sooo happy Mr. Figaro is back.
Good morning modern steaders
It’s awesome to see the ladies out working in the farm with you!
Go Olivia!
So many apples, does you family eat them? Canning some Apple sauce or apple butter would be great in the winter..
Al the plow that you got is awesome I would have got one even if I don't have a road to plow the money that you make is amazing and you get a chance to help a lot of people snow can be dangerous for some luv you Queen Olivia
i just got back from hauling a load of hay new hampshire
Are you selling hay in NH?
we sell hay all over the north east mainly horse farms
we unloaded in hudson falls
Living down a Class 6 road can be a challenge, regarding emergencies, school & work, but the privacy and quiet is great! Our road ends in a Class 6, but the town does plow our section. The snow blows across our upper ridge fields and fills the road! Sometimes my brother-in-law drives down on a tractor to clear a path, before the town circles back, so I can get to work. Folks often ask us why we work so hard on the farm, since we are all over 65. They seem to fail to notice how healthy we are. We can be independent and self-sustaining in hard times and NH blizzards :-). It all depends what your passion is......
This is the first time we have lived not right on a main rd. It is so..... nice.
I agree Al. We only have a couple of neighbors on our road and our house sits on a hill in the woods. The view from all our windows is WOODS!
It's well worth having a plow installed on your truck when you reside in snow country.
Your videos come 4:00 a.m
I have them upload for 6 am est.what time zone are you in
Oh wow! That's a clever thingy with the bolt!! Great job Al! Can't wait to see you build the plough.
I’ve enjoyed watching you videos. It has been a great learning experience for a southern family that is about to relocate to NH in a few weeks. I hope we don’t freeze this winter ❄️😧🤗
What part of NH are you moving too?
Lumnah Acres about 40 miles NE of you
North of us! Lol what town?
Milan area
Nice to see Figaro. Cats do wander a lot. Nice video.
The power angle plow will be nice to use in the snow.
I'm excited to try the v plow. I almost want it to snow. 😂
Very interesting. Your quite mechanical . Great skills.
Nice job buddy I think you should have kept the Chevy I don't know if a Toyota push that much snow hehehe
🤣
Tomorrow I have school in Easter Utah I live in Utah
Enoch Finley 2nd- personally, I think it's barbaric that they're now starting school so early in so many states. Growing up, it used to always be September.
Good luck this year in any case.
Al was talking about needing to do his homework before installing his plow... the key to a good life... never stop learning.
That's right. You don't have to like school either to be a good learner.
Enjoyed the drone footage.
Everything looking good!
Dear Alcide (Al), I thought might know what the wire wound “Chinese Finger trap” is and where it originated. Any way I thought I’d tell you what know from my childhood in the 1940s. They use to sell Chinese Finger traps in candy stores. They were used as handcuffs. I’m 79 this year Al and I enjoy your many talents on your site. Thank you. John
Thanks. I remember Chinese finger traps. We use to get them at a carnival 🎡
It is a really good thing you are thinking ahead! Watching you laying on the ground, in shorts installing the truck side of the plow, says it all! Your going to miss your little helper when she goes back to school. Don't tell Olivia, but I don't know if it is a good thing to jog with the hogs. The idea is to fatten them up isn't it? LOL! Nice job on the filming! Thank you for sharing!
The pigs love to run. I think Pluto taught them how too 🤣
Why didn’t you put the skid plate back on?
I'm surprised you didn't have nosy chickens checking on your plow installation.
Little moose has got a big "Eggo" ego running around with all those bigger chicks showing them he is the stud. It was good to see Olivia back in the videos and Figaro to.
The biggest flaw of our small farm is we are on a well maintained paved highway. Yes it’s well plowed but we hate the traffic. It’s a trade off. The truck snow plow will be awesome and a great investment in self sufficiency. Nice video.
I bet it's nice to sell things from
Time to start making cider and feeding the pulp. The chickens and pigs will eat the pulp a lot faster and you don't have to cut the apples for the goats.
Also by doing all that work yourself with the plow set up you’re saving yourself a boatload of money
Yea the dealer wanted $850 to install
Holy moly!! ( that little' Liv is sure getting prettier by the day...what a gem). The pedicure wasn't so bad...lots of eggs!
"Awe their not eggs" the pigs said, mouthing the apples. LOL! Can't wait to see the plough in action. Hi Figaro. I just built 2 of your coups for my rabbits. I put in a shelf for them to hop up on and chicken mesh on the bottom and they are loving them. Thank you so much. Fresh patch of grass everyday. They have winter quarters and the manure grows great vegies.
😂
Figerooooo needs to keep his audience happy and show his mug off. Hey l don't care about your truck stuff! Thanks for sharing your cat with us!🍅🍀🍉🍀🍅🍉🍀🍅🌹🍅🍀🍉🍀🍅🌹🍋🌹🍅🍀🍉🍋🌹🍅🍀
I know not everybody cares about the truck stuff but we're going to need it this winter. And if we couldn't keep our road plowed open we wouldn't be able to get Figaro any cat food 🤣😬 we will be back to the norm soon.
Well as long as you keep Figerooooo feed. Living way out in the boonies had some draw backs, like the roads being unplowed by the county. Thanks for Highlighting my comment!!!🌹🍀🌹🍀🌹🍀🌹🍀🌹🍀🌹🍀
Are the chickens protective of their eggs at all? Another awesome video, and just relaxing to watch. Thank you, and God Bless from Phoenix.
No they aren't as long as they haven't gone broody
Most likely asked before, but what do you do with all the eggs you gather everyday? Just curious
We sell them
I figured as much, really enjoy the videos. Keep up the good work.
Plow is coming along great. It's got to be nice working with brand new parts!!!
What is the remote thing you have on your hip in some of the videos?
That's a remote for Pluto. She wears a vintage collar
that push plate eats up a lot of ground clearance.............:-/
How often do you need to move New Yoke City with that many birds? I laugh each morning how they come down the ramp and circle back in the door for the feed...:)
We move them every week or two
I was just thinking the same thing.
I did miss Figaro yesterday
I live in the older section of my city. My drive way is in the back and a 2 car and my front entrance is very steep steps that have to be hand shoveled. I have a small gas snow blower. I would rather sell my freezer than that snow blower. It make heavy hard snow removal at least 50 times faster and easier. It also helps keep the alley clear so I can get to my driveway and garage. You know how to work smart not hard. I love your videos. Would you show the pigs when they first arrived and now after all the growing they have done. It seemed to happen so fast. LOL!!
Figaro! All is good... Courage, Barbara in Maine
Don't forget the eggs on the side of the firewood!
I need to check that. Lol
@@LumnahAcres LOL
Thats going to be a sweet plow. I have never had a truck with a plow on it. I clear my driveway with a snow blower on the front of a john deere lawn tractor. Works great. Those wire bolt fishers are really cool. I used them helping a friend install a receiver on his suv. They really work awesome. You mentioned fall coming... I'm in Ct. so I'm not too far from you guys. Last night I went out to dinner on my motorcycle. When I came out to go home, there was dew all over the seat. Thats the first obvious sign that it's getting cooler at night. That probably happens where you are all summer. It still gets chilly at night up there even in the summer. I wonder if those apples are yellow delicious?
Hello from Cromwell !
Howdy neighbor! hahaha
N. Stonington
Yea we have dew a lot. When is your first frost date
Good question... I just looked it up. It's around the beginning of Oct.
Great video! So you didn't have to cut the bumper or air dam at all? It's just a bolt on system?
No I didn't have to do any cutting, which made it really nice
Lumnah Acres that’s great! I hate the look of the cut air dams on the other trucks. Makes it hard to resell the truck with out replacing expensive parts. I’m looking to get a 2020 tundra this winter. Do you know if car seats fit well in the double cab?
Hi Al, may have shared this before but what type public job do(did) you have before you retired to the farm full time? I’m trying to catch up watching all your videos since I found your site so you may have covered this before.
Thanks for sharing your life on the farm. Great information and takes me back to my childhood. Good memories.
zetus kid I remember him saying he built houses
My last job I built custom homes for a local builder
Lumnah Acres I felt that you must have had some background in construction based on the skills you have (and the toys you own to play with) lol. Love your videos!
Hey buddy I bought a older boss straight blade for my 2010 tundra do u have a long or part numbers of what I need to order for light hookups and what not?
Are you losing much ground clearance with those brackets sticking down from the carriage AL? That's a lotta eggzz ..... what size would you grade the brown ones ..... look jumbonormus+! Nice that you can do your own goat's hoofs. Take care AL, Gina & Olivia.
We lost a couple of inches but it will be worth it. Some of the brown eggs are Jumbos
Does olivia go in with the pigs? Never seen her in with them i dont think.
You would have had to spend a lot of money to pay somebody to do that for you, thank goodness you have the skills to do it yourself. well worth the effort i agree, that's a long
driveway to plow.
I couldn't imagine what someone would charge to plow that.
3:40 This is where I'd be looking for my step reamer, which I would probably never find...
What type of bit did you use to hone?
A carbide burr set
Boy, Willow does really well getting a pedicure! Great job guys!
When I watched Olivia gather the eggs I just kept thinking "..what in the world are they doing with all the eggs?" Do friends and family come and pickup the excess? I eat 2 eggs a day and one of your baskets full would last me a week. :-)
Love the channel, yours is by far my favorite to watch.
Yup our friends and family get lots of eggs. 😂
The twisty bit on the wire is called a spring. 😂
In the last few videos, I've really noticed how much Olivia is growing up. I'm also seeing a lot more maturity in her. A compliment to her and to her parents!!!
I just wonder if that plow is to much on a half ton truck? I wouldn't want one on my daily driver. I got buddies that have bent frames pushing snow.
This plow is rated for the tundra. It's designed for half ton pick ups
@@LumnahAcres just trying to look out for your equipment buddy. I want Lumnah acres to prosper.
That plow is built for the half ton! I love plowing in my tundra. Unfortunately I have to operate my dump usually during the storms. I have this 22yr old kid who gets to drive around in my loaded tundra listening to XM radio with heated seats. Although he earned it. I have been amazed with the tundra plowing. My buddie put a 7.5 western MVP on his tundra no issues. My tundra has worked 100k miles in 2 yrs doing alot of crazy stuff! Awesome plow. No storm will stop you!
You are gonna need those tow hooks since you are driving a towota or nobody will be able to pull you out when you get stuck
😂
Those tow hooks are for pulling gm’s fords and dodges, no big deal now just use your trailer hitch.
Do you sell some of those eggs? That’s a lot!
We sell them or give them to friends and family
"There he is. Hiding"
Ninja confirmed.
👍 👍
Do the residents of New Yolk City have water available inside at nighttime? They should also be moved more often to get fresh pasture and not over work their area it will recover quicker and more lushly.
I am going to over sees the area they are in know. I am curious to see if this will help the pasture get thicker
Time for a egg for sale sign.
If I was only plowing the farm, then I would have put the plow on the red truck.
Ole red had a plow
Goood Mawnin' Al! Just a follow to yesterday's question... I have the 5 new chick's that I'm feeding a organic non-gmo starter feed, I also bought a bag of Grower feed, do you use starter, then grower, then finally a layer feed (3 steps), or just go from starter to layer as they start laying ... do you use a grower feed in between?
Grower is what I feed my meat birds. I usually go from starter to layer because it takes awhile to go through fifty pounds of feed
Hi Little White Dory, I can say with our girls that were born 3rd week of May we used starter feed until about 7wks old then switched to grower feed. We'll keep thwm on this until we see eggs. Also using now organic feed from Green Mountain Feeds. But our broiler chicks are on their specific Broiler crumbles thru processing time next month.
@@kidsplayrabbitry4930 Thanks, on the flip side of Al's situation of using up the bag of starter, I only bought a small bag of starter and went through it in 3 weeks! So I went from starter at 20% protein to a grower at 17% protein. I'm a bit puzzled because I was under the impression that grower would be a bit higher in protein, my regular Purina Layena (just as a comparison) is 16% protein. It's all a bit technical and to add to the confusion my friend that's using a lesser known brand feeds his layers 20% protein! I thought that sounded very high for full grown layers, makes me really wonder what various feeds are for and which is best....assuming that there is a best and not just different! I believe Joel Salatan runs 16% effectively for his adult birds and only higher proteins blends for his broilers. Well this weekend I will be off island and will look into better choices for both my older laying hens and the chick's that are at ab I UT 4 weeks now and seem healthy and hearty. Thanks!
@@littlewhitedory1 yes we only have 9 layers to be and 7 meat chicks so feed bags of 50lbs last a longggggggg time especially raised on grassy yard like his. I figure that must be how Al is going through so little feed as well!
@@kidsplayrabbitry4930 my we'ins just went out on grass last week. I had them in a xlarge dog crate that I modified to keep them in. The temperature here at night has only gone down to 66° so far, so they seem completely OK with the accommodations! I will be moving them on grass every day or two and they seem to love the grass and bugs I've been catching for them (crickets are in season!). I'm hoping that I can get good feeds in upstate NY and with crickets on the menu hope that their protein needs are being met.
like my daddy always said, "with the right tools the job is easy. Never wrong in investing in the right tools for any repetitive job." He was right. As he usually was.
He sounds like a wise old man
What size is your truck
The tundra is a half ton
Lumnah Acres sweet . What the engine size too
paddygoesracing it's got the 5.7 v8
Lumnah Acres wow 😮 my truck is only a 2.5 turbo Diesel
Is it just me or is Moose getting a little more "back end" on his crow? He rocks ;-)
He's getting there 🤣
Whenever you collect eggs have you ever seen a snake? That is my fear of collecting eggs LOL.
No we haven't seen any snakes 🐍 while collecting eggs
AL, not being mean, I think I would also try to install the plow, and I am not handy at all. The cost of having a dealer install the plow at $850, I could take a week make 50 calls and still come out ahead. You, being very handy, can spend a day and make the day pay off well. Smart thinking. Still you are using terminology that I do not know the meaning of. I excelled at shop in junior high, then I took a college prep course in senior high. I had no father at home, so I never really learned handyman skills that you provide to subscribers in very seasoned amounts.
Now I do know about trimming goat hooves. I have trimmed many hooves and even done tattooing on Toggenburgs and LaManchas. The LaManchas needed a tattoo in the web of the tail. I put the daughters tattoo about the same location as her mother's tattoo. It worked. Still it would take me a week to install that plow.
God bless you all, and God bless America.
I've never tattooed any thing before
Oh my word... Moose must have tonsillitis... lol
Now that you are no longer tied to a day job, you may be able to 'hire out' to plow other folks' lanes. Or at least help your neighbors after heavy snowfalls.
Why aren't ya'll using your apples for applesauce or apple butter or freezing them for pies or something?
These apples aren't ripe yet.
Good morning
Hi from Ireland !
I have two pygmy goats about 7 months old. I was wondering after cleaning out their bed every week do they really need bedding? Or are they happy on wood floor raised off the ground.
I see yours have a bunk bed with no bedding do they choose to sleep up there or on the floor ? Also do they pee and poop as much on the raised wooden floor
They poop plenty on the bunk but they pee on it.
Well if this adventure is a business then the plow is justified cost.
Before it gets too cold, are you going to let the Turkeys free range inside an electric fence?
Hopefully soon. I want them to get a bit bigger
sausage and links look tastier by the day...mmm
That's the beauty of raising hogs, when you get them they're cute little piglets, but then they grow into huge tasty hogs that you don't mind harvesting. :D
This is so true.
😊👍❤
MOOSE! OK now that that is out of the way, I can concentrate on the remainder of the video.
🤣good to know.
The piggie piggie. how is moose and andy going
Only an 1/8th of a mile, you can do that with a shovel. Lol
