I forget where I picked up that trick with the tray, but with a house of brick it's invaluable. I've tried to get her on screen more to boost the numbers but she is camera shy 😅

It was mildly larger than what I was expecting when wifey was describing it 😂 It is literally a full sheet of 3mm thick hardwood ply cut in half with that box framing behind it. I feel like offering to make these for him... he freehanded the cut and I can spot the little wavy bits between them 🤣
The Makita hammer drill I want has an awesome little attachment that hooks up to a vacuum capturing dust at the source... but until then this method rarely fails (unless you drop the tray... ask me how I know 🤣)
Hello James Sad to hear from an acquaintance in Sydney that you are in lockdown, hope that ends soon. What a lovely piece of artwork, well worth taking time and care with. I always learn from your videos and this time was the catch tray for the drilled out dross and the idea of using blue tape for wall marking! I do not know what dry wall is as I have only lived in places with brick walls covered with trowel applied plaster, I once hung a large fish tank shelf on that with confidence and stood on the shelf with my sons each side to make sure the strength was there! I enjoyed the humour of the tiny picture! I used to raise smiles in the same way - humour and a cup of tea gets us through anything - including present stresses! Best wishes, Eryk. 🎬👍👍👍
I am most fortunate as a public servant in the front line I get to keep working and thus am not as affected as most by the turn of events and got early access to the jab. Dry wall or plasterboard is also foreign to me as my walls are exactly as you describe. Our apartment block was built in the 1970's, it is rare to see internal brick in modern apartment buildngs, one of the reasons we purchased this older stlye unit. They certainly don't make 'em like they used too. The little picture is by the same artist and was a surprise gift that came along with our purchase. An extravagance we are blessed to afford at this time (though only with generous lock-down discount from the artist as his studio is closed and he's been unable to trade normally for over 18 months). It is sad his story is not recorded anywhere, he has lived the most tragic life yet produces craft of such skill and beauty and has won national acclaim, with work hanging in our National Gallery, the highest honour an Australia artist can acheive. Thank you for taking the time to appraise these little videos as always Eryk.

I wonder how safe a house is with plasterboard and studding interior walls if there was a roof collapse - maybe due to snow - as the weight bearing is small compared to brick. I am shocked that new houses in the UK have a guaranteed life of 40 years, less than minimal life expectancy! Proper brick houses around where I live are as good as they were in the 1750's! The phrase "Safe as houses" is not as certain as it was! Keep safe and well both of you :-)

The little one was a bonus gift from the artist, we will have to find it a home now too 😊 it actually did serve a small purpose, testing the screws would take the hanger hooks correctly 😁
Great video and those pictures look so nice, why did you put the gap in the middle? If i had them on my wall, i would have it looking a continuous piece of Art, but hey it does look great. You should have got your wife to hang it up on her own, she did a great shop hooking the first corner up.
Ha! Little show off, invite her on for a cameo and she shows me up 😅 We were lucky having that set of drawers beneath them as we could set them on top as a dry run in a rough position. The 30mm gap was the umpires call, just looked nice, and once I paint the wall grey like I photoshopped in the last image will tie together even more 😊
