If you wear glasses buy the full face mask. I own it and I never have any fogging issues. Even when working in -15 C outside. It is definitely worth the money in my opinion. I used to use the half mask with safety glasses and the glasses would always fog up.
Does the 3M Half Face piece Disposable Respirator Assembly 5301 work for sanding Fiberglass safely? Thanks
The cartridges on the 5301 assembly are only rated for certain vapors. It will not filter particulates. We carry a line of disposable respirators that block both vapors and particulates. The 3M numbers are 07192 (medium) and 07193 (large).
No info online about aluminum dust. What filter do I need for grinding aluminum?
A particulate filer such as the 3M P100 2091 would be sufficient.
what should i use when ply cutting carbon fiber? i have a half face fitted and clean shaven with p95 filters and i can feel the fibers in my throat. and can see some in my mask when i shine a light in it.
A P100 or comparable filter should be enough. Personally, I would spend a bit extra and get one of the vapor cartridges, with the built in P100 filter that he shows at the end of the video, distinguished with the magenta cover, and a black band on the filter body (or the same end, via the self assembly route, as talked about in this video) . If you're wearing the mask for a while, I would spend the extra on a full face model, they're immensely more comfortable. Make sure you get that taken care of, as I understand it, carbon fiber particulate causes lung cancer.
Is the 6003 cartridge good for working with epoxy resin sawdust paint etc? Is it enough?
The 3M 6003 cartridge is good for protection against certain organic vapors or acid gases. It should not be used for particulates.
I prefer the 3M "ready to go"cause the seal is better than the individually respirator.

Mostly got it for fumes for roll on bed liner material. Says dated use by 2028 but I also read replace the filters every 30 days

N95 gets 95% of particles, look for respirators that protect you from silica dust
Thanks for demystifying all the different levels of respiratory protection offered by 3M - think a basic 8210 N95 "dust mask" is just fine for most people whom are mostly staying indoors, social distancing & frequently washing their hands/using hand sanitizer. The 8511 N95 mask with a filter is more comfortable for longer periods of time but there's more of a question mark regarding the expiration of the filter - the only real concern with the 8210 once it's years past it's shelf life date is the elastic support deteriorating! Anything more serious than those 2 options is probably excessive unless you're on the frontlines - healthcare, EMTs, police, fire, public transport and others in constant close proximity with the public. Personally I'd pray for a full face respirator in those situations. I have a couple of 1/2 face respirators with pink 2091 pancake filters - but if I went to the grocery store in that, people would accuse me of stealing from nurses & doctors. Even with my 3M N95 dust mask, I now wear a fabric dust gaiter to hide it. Be safe all.
I think you worry too much about what people think. Those people "accusing" you of taking from Dr's and nurses aren't going to be there to help you if you get covid19. Wear your pankcake filters to the grocery store.
No body is stealing from anyone, the government has already stockpiled their share of the products from 3M and 3M seems to be fulfilling their 90Million Masks orders and etc. 3M needs to consider filling orders for commercial, businesses, restaurants, private sales..etc. Stores like Homedepot, lowes, home hardware - stock availability is unknown and you cannot order any for the general public.

Everyone here **was** missing the point though -- in terms of infectious disease, masks are best for preventing **you** from exposing other people to viruses **you** might have, which these respirators will not do, since for comfort you're only filtering inhaled air, and not filtering exhaled air.

No, you need a respirator with a p100 filter n95 only filters out 95%of particulates p100 filters 99.97 of particulates

The maximum time 3M recommends to use your filter would be six months after the package is open regardless of use. It is also recommended to be replaced when you can feel/smell any contaminates through the filter.

What’s the difference between the pancake p100 and the cartridge p100
The pancake P100 filter will be for particulates only. While some of the standard cartridge's are also only made for filtering particulates some also filter organic vapors. We recommend looking up 3M's cartridge selection guide, this will help you determine what filter is right for you.

Mean its does not even Filter paint spray which is much much much much bigger then a Virus what is a Aerosol concentration of Risk Class 3 means this Virus is even smaller then Class 2.
So wearing a mask M3 8210 only might protect you from droplets when you get rid of the mask and do not breath in the Virus from the droplet on your mask.

@@melvinhhcp3615 The 60926 filters are more than good to block the covid-19 virus from entering your air passages. It's good for chemical dispersants too. It's the top line of filter.
How to clean the filters ?
The p2 and p3 filters for the half and fullface masks you can clean with an air compressor a couple of times before replacing them (probably not recomme ded, but it works just fine). The others you don't clean.

The second one that has the exhaust valve is not good to use if the person wearing it is A symptomatic it will not protect others around them or any surfaces because the vent allows moist breath to leave the mask. The who idea of wearing a mask is to keep other from getting sick from the carrier by having the carrier wear a mask and contain the virus at it starting point (Host Carrier) keeping it from getting out in the surrounding environment. This keeps surfaces clean and is the same as coughing in to a sleave but without the fact that the virus can still be rubbed off on surfaces.
you wear a standard surgeons mask over the top of it. It also protects the 8511 from splashes and moisture. That is what they do at the hospials

If you get the 2097 filter (pink pancake), it is rated at P100, meaning it’s better than n95. Most medical worker uses n95 when treating Covid patients.

3M packaging is very important at this stage for the Corona Virus, does the 3M 7500 series Half-Mask respirator come fully sealed in a poly bag?
