Given the details in the rest of the song it’s def Abt that. Leaving at 15, the parents part ties back to the song ring off and seeing her mom go through it, having to secure financial security for her family bc her career was part of the reason her father was so irresponsible, the part about being overworked and underpaid refers back to DC and the comment prince made Abt how the label needs to give them a bigger share of their money, the lack of a childhood.
It’s a little crazy when you think of how she never got to live a normal life as a kid. She was going back and forth between dance and singing lessons, practicing with her group, pageants, competitions, she’s never really gave way for anything other than her goal. Probably why she keeps her kids lives so private and safe.

I really appreciate you being here Jesse and this track seems the perfect song to help you reflect on that vortex you’re feeling. 🤗 No one can beat Beyoncé’s runs. I get what you were saying Jesse about the whip sounds, like a commanding hand on a horses bridal, cracking the whip to highlight her work ethic and definite sense of direction. Whippin’ off the dust of the road as she journeys onward.
The fact the Bey has been on the road carving out a career since she way young, firstly with Girl’s Tyme, then being signed at 15 to Destiny’s Child with their first major release when she was just 16. Now she’s reflecting back and pointing out how she was overwhelmed and because they were women, how underpaid they were for the work they were putting in. Those 16 carriages or tour buses carrying away all the fear and making her determined to make it. Making her determined to be self sufficient so, unlike her mother having to deal with an unfaithful husband, she can always have the economic means to leave, or just get on her high-horse and survey the prairie. She’s been doing her thing all these years and now she’s appearing with the mirrored glass stetson, outfit and horse projecting a ‘Rhinestone cowboy’ vibe. However, instead of shinning outward like Rhinestone’s trying to impress with false shine, she reflecting inwardly, mirroring her inner feelings and letting us see a glimpse of emotion. She’s here to point out that Country has its roots in the blues and gospel and that the white country folk element came later. She’s subtly pointing out to the likes of Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey “Hey, we were here first!” And to the Grammy’s “I’m a coming for your country” (music that is 😉).

@@Mya_water so there’s an acoustic guitar pressed way up forward - it would be compressed really hard and thinned out a bit so you basically just hear the pitches, and the pick across the strings. There’s also a piano, organ, slide guitar and maybe a few other string instruments that do the shot together! As well as percussion - which if I were to guess would be some sort of hand drum or box instead of a typical kick drum. When it all drops out and goes back to Beys vocal I believe it’s an acoustic guitar playing along side her - but I also thought a banjo was an acoustic once so 😂😂

As much as I love Beyoncé, I really don't find anything appealing about the songs they're at best mediocre.. she is such a great entertainer and artist.. it's OK to step outside the box. But in all honesty, would I buy it? No

Maybe someone should educate you on where country music originally came from if you don't believe that ask Grandpa Jones ask Bill Monroe you may also ask Hank Williams and stop being so ignorant about black people in country music read the history

I thought there were WAY too many unnecessary notes. It’s more for show than for telling a story. Country is about storytelling. Nobody cares about melisma. It would be a more effective song with stable notes.

@@breanahayes3030 an example would be a person singing Classical songs with Blues background music. It makes no genre sense. It is a travesty. If you are going to sing Country, sing Country. I can switch between genres without corrupting the other. I was trained in Classical but I still listen to. Country, R&B, Blues, Bluegrass. These are categories because they ARE the cultures of those who make them. You can’t come in as an “interloper” and appropriate the culture of others you aren’t a part of. I’m not speaking of race.
